Absolutely STUNNING in Blu-ray!

Prepare to immerse yourself in an alien world as if you were standing there yourself. Giant ice fountains rising over 100km high; an ocean hidden beneath a frozen crust of ice; storms twice the size of Earth coloured blood red by a vortex of dust and gases; immense volcanoes that could rip a planet apart - this series reveals the true and awesome beauty of our solar system. Using the very latest breathtaking images sent directly from space, groundbreaking CGI transforms the static into the dramatic. Travelling from the Sun to the far-out reaches of Neptune, the series has at its heart the latest scientific knowledge beamed back from the fleet of probes, rovers and telescopes currently in space, and offers a vivid and unprecedented tour of the world beyond our planet.

and all of us without a PHD in Astro-physics
it is aimed at bringing inspirational science to us plebs, im sure you are fully satisfied attending Hawking's lectures at Cambridge, but i cant see why you have to scoff at us mortals, unless you are just a really self important pleb who thinks hes not a pleb.

excellent series, I think brian cox is superb too.

Awesome series. Buy it even if it's just to show off your new HDTV :D (the movie Sunshine is great too for demos). But it really is one of the best science documentaries I've seen. Really captivating.

Shame the second series (Wonders of the Universe) didn't live up to the same standard as this one (at least for me - actually found it a little boring).

Certainly worth it.

Voted hot - and I never even saw the series! :)

I just tried to buy this from HMV - their "create an account" page fails to "continue" to the checkout after you enter your details in Firefox. Want to email them about it? You have to copy and paste their address into your email program - are we still in 1998?

No wonder Amazon is the giant it is - the competition from the UK won't be giving them sleepless nights... :(

only £1.01 dearer from Tesco stores - if you shop there and don't want the hassle on-line shopping sometimes brings. Good price though - heat added

As a self confessed pleb I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
I shall be laying down some hints as it is almost fathers day ;)

Prof Brian Cox is a legend............. this series is amazing as well

The series although the topic is highbrow is actually set at reasonable level so that even dullards can enjoy and maybe even understand.

If I had a blu ray player would be must buy ~~HEAT~~

Thanks, ordered one and heat added.

I love Prof. Cox's work on making science easy to "get". This is right up my father's street so the timing couldn't be better :)
