Good price, but there was no way it was ever worth £799.99!

You could almost get an Apple laptop for the original price. It's a great tatic to sucker folks to part with their cash.

Makes it closer to value at 399.. comet's 299 offer is close to this + has quidco.. or for a little more you can get a 1.6gh core duo for 449 from a few places (Bought an amilo pi 1505 from staples at 449 and got the business reward vouchers too)

The Comet 299 lappy has only 256 ram no dvd writer and is a 14" screen

Not a bad price for the Wollies one, looked at them yesterday as I am on the lookout for a laptop for my parents, but do not want widescreen !!!

Just spotted this one, maybe better as it is Centrio not Celeron

True but for over a hundred pounds differance you can add another 256 meg RAM easily enough. 14" is better on the battery life too. once you get as far as 399 going a little further for a dual core 1gig RAM 80 gig HDD dual layer lightscribe writer 15.4" tft with clearbright is definitely worth it... The battery is pretty poor on the medion too..and its fairly heavy so not too portable. Great if you dont plan on using it without the power lead though.

edit: nice spor elitom.. media centre too.. thought again 256 ram. Nice alternative for playing dvds.

When they say "was 799", it doesnt always mean it was £799 before it became £399. It could have been £799 last year with several price reductions in between, bringing it down to its current £399.

Just all marketing ploys... They are sneaky, sometimes almost on the verge of lying at times (any company in general). Not a bad laptop for £400 but i would shop around first.

Isn't this the same one that's been this price all year? Only christmas is coming up so they've decided to pretend it has been reduced.

I noticed it in store, right next to the PC also with a stupidly high price corssed out and a more realistic price as the 'sale' price.

If this laptop was ever £799 it was 3-4 years ago, Never heard of the Medion brand, but from experience (Personal & Business) when it comes to I.T Equipment it is always best stick with leading brands, For laptops these would inc H.P, IBM (Lenovo), Acer, Toshiba, They are the brands used by Businesses so tried and tested.
You get what you pay for, cheaper laptops have noiser fans, poor screens and use cheaper components. I know, I have seen quite a few opened up and then you really see where the money is spent.

A few years back this laptop would of been a bargain but now prices are very competitve and heres 4 laptops I would choose over the medion for same price and spec.
