Nothing left of any quality in my store in Rhyl. Some plonks bought most of the games at full price!!!
#2
If this actually happens the entertainment sale could be great...
Sceptical though
#3
Is it guarenteed they will not be removing all the good games/Blu rays etc before then so you will be left with the junk they cannot return/sell wholesale. Also are the prices going to be 50% off what they are now and not repriced to rrp making them still more expensive than online retailers
#4
too be honest cant see them having any consoles there let alone games.
#5
Also why are people voting this hot especially after the last sales thread where there was hardly any savings to be made at all.Do they not learn
#6
is it 50% off or upto 50% off?

yeah or is it going to be an up to 50% off lol.
#8
According to the news yesterday, 50 million new items of junk will be delivered to all Woolworths stores this week.
#9
Why cant they start this before xmas? Lol that would be great.
#10
Most new ish release games can be bought from a variety of online retailers for less than £25.

I doubt Woolies will be selling for less than that anyway.
#11
COLD

Just asked my aunt who works in woolies, this is NOT happening.

Probably HMV wholesale or some distributor most Woolies seem to have no DS games in Now.
#13
The one in Hamilton was pants... I bought a box of quality street and I could have got it cheaper in Morrisons... I think the madness musta got to me while I was there... everyone was grabbing everything of the shelf, I swear some of them had to rub sugar into their gums just to make it to the end of the shop lol
#14
Will be good if this is actually true, and your woolies isn't one of the first to go

Yeah, can just see the own branded stuff and the instant bargain bin rubbish left out.

they had to see this closing down coming a few years back ? They never have been THAT competitive. Just convenient.

Ahh well hope it makes other stores take notice.

COLD

wouldnt surprise me if it was rubbish i wont be making any effort to go and have a look after all i have bought all the presents now!! it would make more sense that they are closing down to just do a huge sale before xmas.
#17
The last time I was in a Woolworths there was nothing left worth buying, so I hate to think what it will be like come the 26th December! I couldn't believe the size of the ques on store, yet most thing where more expensive than what you cna buy them online or in other stores for. I think people see the sign 50% off sale ( hiding the upto part ) and go mad! ( I know I do ;-) )
#18
yeah, i have no interest in getting up early on boxing day morning, cramming into woolies to get a shot at the maybe 2 things left in the shop worth buying.
#19
firstly,if there were any consoles the staff would have em so there is NO CHANCE of the public ever seeing them.

second, entertainment uk(euk) ,the distributor of games, cds etc to woolworth/asda/tesco etc, although a fully owned woolworth subsiduary is a separate company and is being treated by the administrators as such.

all goods delivered to woolworth by euk and not paid for yet remain the property of euk and woolworth have no authority to reduce them by any further than ten percent.

euk as a distrbutor will be saved even if woolworths are not-there is already a bid on the table for euk from asda which includes all their depots, vehicles, stock in warehouses and stock in stores not yet paid for-there is absolutely NO way there will be a 50 percent off consoles deal-voted cold.
#20
What staff member in their right mind would go into Woolies on December 26th?
I certainly wouldn't bother.
#21
Not for me. Thanks:thumbsup:
#22
I`ll never actually believe anything about woolworths sales until it actually happens or someone states a specific great deal they got there. I will refrain from voting as we have all been misled on these sales too many times now.

And risk losing there redundancy payment
#24
:lazy: I feel sorry for the staff having to continue to work til they all finally close - I'd hate to work there now, it would be like being surrounded by vultures

You're having a laugh aren't you?
Government minimum is all they'll get and nobodies taking that away from them...
I worked for 15 years and was made redundant. Government Min. was all I got £3500 and without belittling the staff, I was ion a lot more than them.
I'll be very surprised if the get a good payoff!
#27
they had about 10 consoles in huddersfield but they were way overpriced....cheaper in zavvi
#28
All the games were apparently stolen from my local woolworths. They have tape covering the areas where the empty games cases are saying that due to a break in all the games had been stolen so they had no stock to sell.

euk was massive and it was probably the cancer that is woolworths that has caused them problems - alone they had a massive distribution base and I for one hope they'll be saved one way or another
#30
Went in my local woolworths today they had limited stock of DVDs and they had filled the empty shelves with videos and their own brand electricals no sign of any consoles and very few games to be had.
#31
Been and nothing but tat left, but then again alot of the stuff they had before was tat so no difference. Most of the decent items have been removed from the shelves.
#32
i have been to the glasgow and east kilbride woolies, f**K-all left in either, bare shelves everywhere, looked like an abandoned warehouse! so good luck with your sales!!! ;-)

pretty certain asda will win the fight to take them over-asda have been stung twice in 4 years with their distributors going down at christmas-first it was t.h.e. 4 years ago and now this-dont think they want that to happen again which is why they have bid for euk-far as Im aware noone has topped their offer yet.
#34
Its just getting sad at Woollies. I dont think i will go even if they are dumping stock - the staff are being forced to work during a period where they know they are out of work, and the stock is thin on the ground anyways.

It really is picking the bones of the carcass. You will see similar deals online at HMV and such without needing to visit the woollies morgue.

It was reported though that they were shipping the rest of their warehouse stock into stores as there is obviously no hope for them now.
#36
iF YOU BUY ELECTRICALS FROM wOOLIES? wHAT HAPPENS WITH THE GUARANTEE'S?
#37
Not sure how accurate OP is. I have a freind who is manager of quite a big woolies store and they are aiming to close doors on christmas eve!

Manufactures will apply but obviously on somethings not worth bothering with.

Oh FFS, if they are contracted to work on Boxing Day and they don’t turn up for work, they could loose any payment above the statutory minimum they were going get. Plus if you are loosing your job an extra days pay would be welcome
#40
for what it's worth, redundancy payments don't apply if you are fired for breach of contract - not that it is in any way likely to happen, but if you just stop turning up to work, you can expect to get little to no benefits - you'll probably get pay til the end of the month, and I think your JSA might suffer as well.
