Seen in Sutton Tesco

Tesco are doing a bargain bucket deal on their cooked deli chicken, 8 breasts and 8 thighs plus some wings and a free pack of match attax cards for £6. Basically there is a large carboard bucket by the delicounter and you hand it over and they fill it with hot chicken. Bargain for £6. Think its a world cup promotion.

If they're what I think they are, they look to be roasted and then kept hot until they sell. This can mean that you end up with a load of very dry, stringy chicken (especially the breasts) - if they've been kept hot too long. They're edible if you're hungry or drunk, but nowhere near as nice as proper fried (or freshly roasted) chicken.

Good deal

Thanks - that may help, though still not convinced it will be ideal if they're hanging around for a long time (if things don't dry out, the moisture will make the skin soggy. I've had some of their bakery savouries kept hot in plastic bags - I don't think I've ever had anything nastier in my mouth).

If you've got time, it's quite easy to roast a load of chicken thighs/wings with garlic, lemon, chillies and salt. It's a good price if you want the chicken hot and cooked, though.

No and nothing like KFC/fried chicken either.

Legs are 'drumsticks'. Thighs are... 'Thighs'. There is a difference.

Its not Kosher (which I only eat) either.

Your point being?

So you dont eat processed food either?

Your apples don't come off a conveyor belt?

Excuse my spelling....

Sounds foul! but cheep so heat and rep added:-D
#27
Sorry but this seems very unhealthy. I will get a healthier meal at my local kebab shop. A donor kebab with salad is a better idea. And chilli sauce on top.

WHAT !!!

You're trying to tell me that these chickens have not skipped playfully over Hebridian thistles, whilst whistling a merry tune before sipping on spring water that has been cold filtered filtered through pommegranite seeds ?

COUNT ME IN YUM !! :)

The people who would be interested in this deal I'm sure are well aware of it's benefits and disadvantages.

If you fancy it .. buy it and enjoy!! If not .. let others worry about themselves.

Thighs and legs are different... Legs tend to just be like drumsticks. Then the thigh is the bit cut off from the top of the leg
banned#36
weird how its not 8 wings too

must be extremely small portion sizes as it only works out at £1.50 per chicken so I guess they used 3-4 week old baby ones!
