Worth pointing out that it's a graded item and so not 100% brand new.

Also worth pointing out that it's Samsung and they're not exactly known for their quailty in this price bracket.

True!

As an alternative, I rather lose 10 inches of screen size and buy a 40'' Sony V5810 for the same money from M&S. It comes with free delivery and installation and a free Sony blu-ray player plus a free 5 year guarantee. In addition to the inbuilt freeview tuner is a freesat tuner so it is a 1080 line set. Of course if you don't care about picture and sound quality get the big old Sammy. For me, if you have £599 to spend on a tv, it's a no brainer!

Except plasma gives better picture quality than LCD, even SOny, deeper blacks and better contrast. Many people will apreciate a 50inch screen, which will give 100%+ More surface area than a 40inch set. This is also a 1080 line set and HD freesat/freeview tuners arent really a big deal as you can get a seperate box for that

I would recommend the 50 PS3000 from Richer Sounds over this set though as some people are susceptable to the Sammys flicker

Unfortunately, Plasma Samsungs have very poor grey scale ability. The blacks are too black to the extent that shadow detail is lost. Flesh tones look very unnatural too, displaying a pink orange tone and the contrast is way OTT. I am a fan of Plasma TV's but not the one's by Samsung.

Anyone thinking about buying a Samsung plasma should think again. The power consumption alone would put most people off. If anyone wants a Plasma I'd recommend Panasonic everytime.

This deal is collection only. There will be very few people wanting to collect a 50'' TV and especially one that's not brand new!

I have 2 Panny plasmas, amzing pictre quality but over on the AVFORUMS people say LG/Sammy have better colours, while the Panny has better blacks...

They have a LG 50Ps8000 which is last years LG for only £720 and a 50PS3000 for £580, those are really amazing deals IMO (better than this 1)

If this is the same tv that bennetts were doing a few months ago then I have this one....all i have to say is its an amazing tv, but the only let down for me was the sound quality....a home cinema system is definately needed...

it looks like it is the same at the bennetts deal

I have this tv and the picture is absolutely stunning in both Freeview and HD - but it is going back because of the brightness flicker that occurs - lots of people have returned them because of the same problem from the deals that were posted on here at the same price (Bennetts & Currys).

So a fair chance you will get one of these Plasmas with the same problem - now whether some people either don't see the problem or have got lucky I am not sure.
