Cheapest price by £1 or so and includes next day delivery. Works out at £7.50 per month, which is £1.50 less per month than what Blizzard normally charge.

Also, please don't vote cold because you disagree with paying per month to play a game etc etc etc :)

Yeah lol, thats my point, a lot of people have trouble looking past the price. If you think about it though, £7.50 per month that covers huge content patches, constant updates, huge servers and community etc is actually a good deal. Compare that to the £40 a year for xbox live, which is basically just skype for consoles, which isnt free. Or compare it to the £8.00 people usually spend on a few maps for their beloved COD or whatever other game. The content sure as hell has a lot more playtime than any game DLC for consoles (paying £10+ for a 4 hour long addon :whistling: ).

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rant mood :-D

Not my cup of tea either ! . I've just been playing Uncharted 2 online and its pure action and no fees .

Add to this the cost of expansions (at the time of release) and you'll soon find yourself paying in the region of £150+ for a game, not even including the monthly fee.

Theres a large variety of multiplayer games which are action packed .I 've not tried them all yet though . The game itself is twice as good as the first one

2 original games £30, 2 burning crusade expansions £40, 1 wotlk expansion £20, plus all the other crap ive spent money on in game, character transfers etc.... Maybe its time i get out

Just got out from playing this game after 4 and a half years. Was about time. Voted hot for a good price though. =)

your comparison between that and xbox live is laughable - xboxlive allows access to multiplayer servers, additional content (some paid for) , demos, videos, paid for movies, etc
also
- "covers huge content patches" -these should be free anyway, i shouldnt pay extra for them to fix their software
- "constant updates" - fair enough but doesnt justify the price
- "huge servers" - fair enough but doesnt justify the price

ok so gta V came out would you pay £100 a year for it!
i wont pay more than £25 for a game now
#12
loving the hatters, just a little pointer ' omg you pay 100 a year'

yeah and in a year my account is worth £700+ whats your xbox games worth ? £5 each ?

The huge (or 'major' as theyre known) patches arent fixes, they are added content, usually consisting of large new areas, quests, raids, etc etc, i wont bother going into the details. Its effectively the same as all other game addons, except theres greater reward and the content lasts for months, unlike the 4 hours of content on and xbox game addon.

So if these patches should be free, then point out to me which company offers that much new content for games every month for free? From memory, the only game that has had a considerable amount of free content on consoles is Burnout: Paradise.

Also as for xbox live content, I'll break it down;

Movies: Paid for, and only useable for 24 hours
Multiplayer servers: Generally run by the same companys that run the servers for all other console/pc versions of the game which are generally free, XBL just provides the patches and downloads
Additional content: Majority is set between 800 ms points for a map pack or 2-4 hours worth of gameplay, and 1200-1600 ms points for a arcade game or slightly longer gameplay (ala gta 4 addons). The free stuff generally isnt worth talking about.
Demos: Paying to download demos?
Videos: Again, unless its a trailer which is widely available on youtube etc and wont require download, most other videos require payment.

I'm not against Xbox live, as i use it myself, im just comparing them.

fair enought but come on does this justify the £100+ price tag per year - and whats worse is that if you stop paying you have no game

Such is life. If you stop paying for Sky TV, you have no good TV.

I've never played as I think I might get hooked, but I think it's the same as anything, all in all it sounds like people spend an average of £10 a month (ish) that isn't too bad if they play regularly. At one point we were paying Sky more than that for a movie package when we rarely watched a movie. Some people spend more than that on smoking a week. If you have the time and money it's up to you. Seems like a good price so heat added!

The fact is that people will play WoW all year making the monthly subs a bargain. 1 Xbox game may be £30-40 but there's no way you will ever play it as much as WoW. For example an Xbox game might have 20 hours play time, whereas WoW you can get that much play time in a week, in a month you get as much as 4 xbox games for only £9. Sounds like a bargain to me.

These are very rough figures but you get the idea.

Mix in all the additonal content patches, the excellent server uptime and tbh pretty good support all round.

BTW I have an Xbox as well so have nothing against it.

For XBL, the £26 I pay a year lets me enjoy the online experience on all my games - not just one :) You can also pay for DLC correct, although I don't bother with that - most comes free with the games, but a one off payment for some more maps is tolerable as it's a one off purchase for as much playing as you want :)

I appreciate the point of the sub fee (well, I understand the pros) but I disagree strongly in being forced to pay to play - The game should be free to play once you have bought the CD - Paying should be optional as a member subscription, allowing unlocked access to all content!

Plus, for £8 a month? If it was £3 a month, we'd be talking!

(Not looking for a fight here [for once!] but just explaining my points to you as well :))

It's for this reason I don't play WoW - If it was a free game with the option to pay for extra access to content (and at half the price) then I'd be in, well and truely! (Used to be a Runescape addict and I guess I favour their pricing strategy, works well imo).

I disagree... CoD has provided many, MANY hours of gameplay online... Not to mention the other games I have that I can play online for the £26 a year :)

As I mentioned above, if the sub fee was less and voluntary, then I wouldn't be complaining!

Well yes you can play quite a bit of CoD online, I know I did until I got bored of it! Talking retail prices thats £55 for CoDMW2 and £40 for the online subsription. And the other games you play are probably £40 each. That's not exactly cheap is it for the same amount of gameplay.

If we talk in sensible prices, MW2 was £26 (We'll say £30 for the sake of arguement) and subscription can be had for £26 online :) The other games I play I bought for approx £18 each at most.

Reasonable for the gameplay ;) Especially since you are not tied to one game but can play many online with that subscription.

Also if I don't play my Xbox at all for a while, the comparable loss is less (based on subscription rate of £26 pa vs £96 pa) :)

However, I don't know if WoW can be compared like for like with XBL, but the similiarities are there.

This is my opinion of course - You're unlikely to agree - The magic of a debate!

Doubt your account is worth £700, wow accounts are worth next to nothing with all the botters and cheap gold selling. I've levelled up and sold many accounts vanilla wow onwards for 500+, doubt you'll get 300£ even if you got 5x level 80's....so easy to get 80 in a week.

Also the game is crap, addictive and a time sink yes, but crap. Get a better mmorpg if your going to waste this amount of money. Agree also with the xbox remarks, xbox live is worth the sub compared to wow, granted it sucks to pay £26 a year but well worth it imo for just one or two games alone online. Not voting hot or cold, as it is a decent price and probably the best for it....just not a good deal imo.

yeah,,,,, thats right with full uldar HM acheivements, toc 25 heroic downed, holy pala with best GS on server / top 100 world wide? 38k mana unbuffed hmmmmz , and 4 lvl 80's

check ebay tbh ,

dont think the 75 mount i got count for anythign either?
#28
If you have the best possible gear (which aint that hard to do) even an account with 1 lvl 80 will go for at least £200. If you have more 80's similarly geared, then you'll really rake some coin in.

Btw, even £26 for XBL is a bit high, because its just skype with a flashy menu. The PSN provides exactly the same thing but for free. And no there is no lag on PSN, just people who use wireless :/ People that say its laggy online either havent played it or have played a game which really shouldnt have had online, i.e. MGS 4. The only thing it lacks is cross game voice chat.

Microsoft only provide the servers for the content and marketplace (same as sony), not the servers in which to play on (which are free btw). Heck, when BBC iPlayer was set to come to the 360, Microsoft refused, as they wanted to charge people to use it (even though its free everywhere else), so the BBC pulled out.

Okay so with those prices it's £74 for the gameplay of just two games. Don't get me wrong I don't think the Xbox is bad value at all, I'm just argueing that you get just as much value, if not more out of a WoW subscription. Of course with the Xbox you get different games, but if you're playing WoW seriously that's not going to be a concern.

Oh and you aren't tied into it in anyway other than your current months payment, it can be suspended or cancelled completely at any time.

Anway all I'm getting at is that for the amount of game hours you get in WoW for the price it is no more expensive than buying a few games and an online subscription.

Arguably better? Yes, but a very one sided arguement it would be.

Just reinforcing the point that people who are bequething the £7.50 a month fee, don't understand the amount of gameplay you will get out of that. Far more than you will get if you spent the same money on new console games.

For example, the guy who mentioned he's loving uncharted 2 online. How long have you been playing that? Can't be more than a few weeks, tops, its barely been out that long. How much longer will you be playing it online? A few more weeks at most, I bet. It is a great game though. Thats probably £35 for best part of a couple of months entertainment, that price would net you five months of entertainment from a WoW sub.

It's horses for courses really, if you like getting involved in one game of this genre, then the subscription cost is relatively cheap compared to how much you could spend on console games to keep you occupied for the same time.

Wow you must be easy pleased if you think unchartered is pure action online....its one of the most boring online games ive ever played ( single player is class though ), the framerate is 30fps for a start and this never works in online games.

As for warcraft, stay well away from the game....its more addictive than crack!
#38
Spoke to the local dealer on the corner on the way to the shops. Says he's willing to do 3 bags of crack for the price of 2 in order to compete with this WoW offer. If you ask nicely yours might do the same too...
