World of Warcraft Battlechest - £7.98 - GAME.CO.UK

Four years have passed since the aftermath of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and a great tension now smolders throughout the ravaged world of Azeroth. As the battle-worn races begin to rebuild their shattered kingdoms, new threats, both ancient and ominous, arise to plague the world once again.

Great deal, paid £14.99 for this a few months ago and thought that was a bargain!
#2
Tell me about it, I remember paying about 25 quid just for the original game ¬.¬
#3
Bought this yesterday - its was £9.99 in store so online was cheaper with free postage AND Quidco! Very pleased.
#4
good deal
dont buy unless your prepared to sell your life to a game though
#5
So do you need the other expansion packs to interact with other people who have them all? lich king, etc
#6
u need the wrath of lich king to access the extra northrend land and get to 80

No you don't need the expansions to play but you can only level to the respective caps (60, 70). You also won't be able to go to the new zones. Other than that it will be exactly the same.

This game sucked all my funds dry back when i was at college. Now I'm trying to keep away from it and claw some of my social life back xD
#9
Good price but

World of Warcraft has a subscription fee of £8.99 per month.

Voted Hot btw

SO there is no advantage at all to getting lich king and installing it straight away over playing burning crusades to cap and then installing lich king?

Isnt there also another expansion scheduled for soon as well?
#11
Just got this. Played WOW a few years and and fancy trying a month again to see if it's still fun.

If you've already got a character over level 55 then installing Lich King as well as these two would allow you to create a new Death Knight character. This class starts at level 55 rather than 1 and has its own unique starting area. Other than that I can't think why you'd need to install Lich King before you have a character at level 68 ready to go to Northrend.

Edit: yeah, 'World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is the next expansion. In that they're revamping a lot of the old leveling content to bring it up to their more recent standards, which should make levels 1-60 a lot more fun. It's not out till much later this year though, probably autumn-ish.

8.99 a month:thinking: No thanks!!

Good deal, if anyone is interested I'm thinking about selling my account and I'll set up a for sale thread. It has a 70 Paladin and wrath of lich king installed, basically you can either start a new death knight or just play level 70 - 80 with my character. Would be looking for about £50-40.
#15
Afaik it gets a little cheaper if you subscribe for 6 months at a time. Once they've sucked you in so that real life is an annoyance that interferes with WoW life, 6 month subs will be a given. :P
#16
Brilliant game, but stay clear as it'll eat up your life.
#17
would buy but u have to pay subscription

I have no characters, in fact i have never played wow before, i have been gaming RTS and FPS for over 15 years and was happy until now, the only thing that is making me consider WoW is im getting really into the RPG side of borderlands, i know its not a real RPG by a long shot but im finding myself enjoying levelling, questing and buffing, etc more then killing and i never thought i would see that day. I figure if im going to try a real RPG it might as well be the big one.

I have been reading up a lot about the game but this deal might make me actually jump in. That said i see the refer a friend program on the WoW website that involves triple XP for 90 days if playing with the referer and a free months subscription and an epic mount for the referer. so idealy will start with the refer a freind 10 day trial then upgrade to this pack and get another 30 days free. The refereral period is 90 days.

So that seems like a great deal if i can find an experienced player that wants to help a noob out, preferably one in a guild already for group play, they will get a free epic mount and some free play time after 60 days i think through the program I am a fast learner but am learning from absolute scratch (fair warning). I want to play an Alliance priest (i think) and will be putting some serious evening/weekend hours in to get started.

this is starting to sound like an application to a dating website....erm... i guess...... so i will stop there and await any offers ;)

**EDIT** oh yeah i want to play PvE rather then PvP

It's a total grind, took me a while to realise. You'll never be satisfied with your progression. Despite being able to play "casually" in practice there is no such thing. Certain dungeons take hours. When people say games take up your life, in this case, they are actually right.

At first it's fun as everything is new and exciting, however don't play this game if you have an addictive personality. I say this for your own good. I've logged about 2 SOLID months on this game and was it worth it? Perhaps 5 days worth, but not all those hours...This isn't even as long as some people who have been on the game for actual YEARS. Just imagine if you started the game in 2004 and played hours every day till now. You have probably spent 365 days or more playing this game with little reward.

Playing a game with a solid finite storyline is a lot more healthy than this game. I'll never play an MMORPG again now I've got myself off the Warcraft Addiction.

Guild wars. You pay for the game but no subscription
#24
I've 'earned' a total gameplay on a single character of 400 days, and thats not including several level 80 alternative characters either. Seriously only buy this game if you have the time available (and im not talking days here), and if your really wanting to play an awesome game (which it truely is).

The one problem I had (I have now quit for over a year), is that you have to pay for every expansion, in my eyes and opinion, 8.99 a month should cover all updates. Anyway, this is a great offer for a fantastic game, however its missing the new expansion which inevitiably you will buy.

Guild Wars, made my lots of ex Blizzard employees.
Way better graphics. No subs.

Longevity via PvP rather than questing.

New version of Guild Wars will no doubt be amazing, hope we see it this year.

I'd be up for that depending on a few things. Would you want to be 'boosted' by a higher level or would you be up for leveling with someone? Ive been playing my shaman since burning crusade was released and I stopped playing a few months back waiting for patch 3.3. I'd happily start a new class. As for guild help, it all depends on which server you want to play on. Ive been in practically every guild on my current server, so finding groups etc would be easy.

WIN :-D

Hot deal, very cheap compared to other places and buying them seperate.
#28
Patch 3.3 is out already.
#29
Avoid this like the plague if your children want it. It sucks up hours & hours of a players life.
And it does it gradually without you being aware. I wish the the game never existed. Blizzard should be banned from making this type of thing.
#30
With the latest Patch Release 3.3, and especially the 'Dungeon Finder' tool, Blizz have made it easy for the Casual gamer to find groups for Duungeons.

They have however made some of the content a little too easy for hardcore gamers.

I've casually played most classes, and currently play Alliance on the PVE Server Stormrage.

I can highly recommend WoW.. however it does come with a Government Health Warning, but even Blizz acknowledges the fact..

Take all things in moderation.. Even World of Warcraft.
Bring your friends to Azeroth but don't forget to go outside with them too.

Quoted for the truth, I have friends who play this game that now rarely leave their houses except for the few of them that work, and even that's too much trouble sometimes. As for being sociable anymore? Not a chance. Recommend to stay clear of this game unless you're either retired, a teenager (in which case it'll probably still **** up your perspective of life) or you've simply given up on life and expect to do no better.

Good price though. :p

very true.
personally i had a fair bit of time on my hands but not at consistent times or for 4 hours at a time.
due to this, the game consisted mainly of solo grinding and frustration about the content/equipment on my character.
you do get the social side but unless you play together at all times its pretty disjointed due to different progress levels.
if you do have the time so spend then you may do better but then ofc.. at what cost?
