I was in Tesco's today doing our weekly shop and the other half suggested I check the PC section for Cataclysm as it's due out this coming Tuesday. I didn't expect to see it but it was part of the PC Game Chart, labelled as a "Pre-order".

It's the full expansion, not just a code. It's labelled as a Pre-order as the expansion doesn't go live until 23.01 on Monday 6th. I've already added the code to my WoW account and had to download an update when I logged in. My account will now automatically upgrade to Cataclysm when it launches.

This is over £7 cheaper than doing the same via the Digital Download which is £29.99 and it does the same. I would assume this is nationwide as the "Pre-order" price tag looked normal but I do know one friend who was told by his Tesco that it wasn't available.

It was in the Quedgeley, Gloucester Tesco today.

So you were able to buy this and walk away with it today?
#2
.....and was it just the code or the box with the DVD in?
#3
It was the full retail expansion, the same thing that will be available from Tuesday.

As it's on my account already I can start playing from 23.01 on Monday, an hour before any midnight opening, I don't have to get cold waiting for a copy and it's £7 cheaper than upgrading online.

They make you pay for the game and also make you pay a subscription to play it too?oO
#5
That is true but when you think it's been going strong for 6 years now and that they add new things pretty much every month (recently had a massive one!) and these expansions add a lot of game time to the world.

Confirmed, I just went with a friend to Tesco's In Ricoh Arena Coventry. And bought a copy.

Thank You.

You can play it at 11pm UK time as the servers for wow are on Europe time as it will be 12am there.

Correct, we technically get it an hour earlier... but that's only because the hour was taken away from us earlier in the year! At least one good thing comes from Daylight Savings.

Great deal. Unsure about whether I'll go down and save the £7. Think I'll order it online and save the embarrassment of having to pay for the game face to face.

Went to Tesco this morning and my store are switched on and said i cant buy it till midnight today.

since when do you need to pay for this? i get emails inviting me every single day!!!1

@brilly - its a new expansion, and therefore not free. However, the original World of Warcraft free trial is constantly being pushed by Blizzard.

Enforcing release restrictions on this xpac is stupid on the part of supermarkets. Nearly everyone that pre-ordered online from a reliable retailer got their copies today anyway. My store in Llandudno Junction has 40 copies, but aren't selling them till midnight - 1 hr after EU release.

Plus you've got the no-life factor of queuing up with a bunch of like minded nerds in the freezing temperatures to save what? £7? and have a hardcopy of the game. Think I'll pass and pay for the digital upgrade.

GG Tesco. That's £23 of my money you might have had otherwise.
