Dont vote cold because you dont like it or because it destroyed your marriage / life.

You get the first month free etc etc, but its the best price around by far for anyone looking to start playing or anyone wanting the extra account for the recruit a friend mount.

Seen in Middlesbrough store, also had TBC expansion for £4.99.

The game is free...

Free trial...why would you pay for this ?
#2
You still have to buy the game code, and the rest of the expansions if you want to fully "enjoy" it.

Its not free, you can get a little trial with big restrictions for free. If you want to play the game in full you have to buy the original game... then you can buy the expantions if you wish.

This is a great price if you get a free months gameplay as thats usually 8.99.

What you can also do is buy bundles where you get the original game + expanstions included.

Cold because I don't believe in having to subscribe to play a game.

Thats irrelevant. Whether you believe it or not has nothing to do with it.

For 24/7 support & regular updates/events I think £8.99 a month is a great price, staff/GM's gotta make a living somehow. When you see the actual game costing £2.99.. they aint going to be making much from that.
#8
That's over £100 a year from every sucker they bring in. Most games cost say £40 at most and you can play them all you like and online too at no cost. It's just a big money making rip off ploy. Still if you're happy paying it to play it...

Make a living?!?!

Have you seen how much money WoW makes? it's obscene!

You wont pay a subscription to play a game? I suppose you don't think DVD will catch on and that people who have mobile phones are show offs?

Joking aside, the wow subscription is amazing value for money. I don't think that can be disputed by anyone who knows what they are talking about.

And before you attempt a comeback anewman I advise you to think carefully. I would never pay off the shelf 40 quid for a game, most of which last 10-20 hours before the content is exhausted. To explore the full content in wow, in the most efficient way would last most people up to 30 days.

And 10m people enjoy that content apparently...

As for this deal I do not think that this is the best one to go for. Wasn't there a pack around recently which included TBC expansion for 7 quid total.

I love wow so i pay to play it cos i enjoy it, however i do agree that the sub is daft and the fact we have to pay 25+ quid for the expansions is silly too most pc games let you have them for free but Blizz won't have any of it. As for service ie customer services and opening tickets for a GM well all i have to say is LOL what service :P its practically non existant you have to wait 8 hrs to get dealt with, Blizz/Activison/Vivendi make more then enough money out of various projects that they can afford to make expansions free.
#12
EVE managed to give away 13 expansions without charging. Guild Wars is free to play after buying expansions.

WoW is NOT a good example of a 'player friendly' MMO. It's a good example of how stealing ideas from other MMOs, overcharging players & disappointing expansion packs makes for a good business model.

Still though 12million can't be wrong eh :| Bearing in mind 9 million bought Susan Boyles album worldwide :{

They may be a bit expensive, but Blizzard have proven time and time again that they are one of the few compaines around these days that actually put some time and effort into their games. If more companies took a "when its done its done" approach then the gaming scene wouldnt be in such a mess these days. Ive yet to see a fully completed bug free game in the last 2 years which hasnt tried to exploit people through dlc.

And you'd spend £40 on a game that takes 10 hours to complete, with poor multiplayer, only to either leave it on the shelf for years or trade it in for a harshly reduced store credit? And do that with multiple games? Yeah, paying £100+ a year for a game that can technically go on forever is a REALLY bad deal *insert more sarcasm here*

Almost every WoW player would be open to other MMOs... IF they were actually any good. Guild Wars is a pathetic example, seeing as how their free MMO build wouldnt even allow them to run decent enough servers. Whats the point in an MMO if you can only interact with people in cities / checkpoints?

Ive yet to see a fully completed bug free game in the last 2 years which hasnt tried to exploit people through dlc.

Bug free games don't exist anymore, haven't since the rise of the internet & day one patches. While we're talking bugs, shall we talk about the DX11 glitches of cataclysm? How bout the faulty multi-monitor support? No? We'll just stick with the 2gb max addressable memory cap on WoW.exe then.

For the amount of money they are making, & you are paying out, it should be damn near fault free.

As for DLC, it's a natural reaction to 2nd hand games sales, companies like Game et al make a killing & publisher sees nowt...besides there's nothing wrong with DLC in itself, it's certainly not exploitation, it's all about how it's implemented...

Bad example: Battlefield 2 DLC split the user base & thus finding games for the DLC was a pain & a waste of money.

Good example Bad Company 2: 7 (free, as long as you bought the game new) map packs so far, a DLC 'skin' pack @ £3.99. Bad Company 2 Vietnam as a separate game for £9.99 = DLC done right.

It is for an unwinnable game. Not to mention Actiblizzards nickle & diming over name changing, race / faction changes, server transfers & the rest which really should be free or at much lower cost when you are paying a monthly fee to access.

AFAIK World of Warcraft is the only game that when you quit, you win.

Sometimes people forget what a deal is, it seems. I dont like MMORPGs, having lost far too much time to Ultima online and starwars galaxies in the past so Ive avoided this like the plague...but its a good price for what you get. Hot deal, for a cold social life :p

I have to say that the recent expansion Cataclysm is fantastic - i've dipped in and out of WoW over the years, and I normally get bored after a month or two - but the new quests and zones are fantastic. It's the first time i've really wanted to complete all the quests in a zone before moving on - they play more like a single player game with a story and they are actually fun. It's not just a grind like it used to be - well it is, but it's wrapped up nicely.

A lot of the old instances have had a revamp too - and all of the instances, including the likes of Deadmines are playable at heroic difficulty once you get to 85 - so all of the fun instances are available for the end game.

If you have yet to play WoW or have played in the past - now is a great time to jump back on board - just remember to not let it take over your life.

And 98.000 people watch Barcelona every week but they obviously play **** football because Susan Boyle sold 9m albums.

This is a hot uk deals website. Putting people off a game which you know represents great value to a vast number of people is very mean spirited.

Has anyone told you that there are wow haters out there? And that you are one of them?

You can phone blizzard 24/7 and talk to them regarding anything you think needs immediate attention, GM's ingame usually respond to me within 20 mins. All you have to do is put *Urgent* in your request.

Don't forget warcraft offer lots & lots of ingame content upgrades without having to buy any expantions, dungeon.. gear.. citys.. mounts.. etc all get upgraded regularly and you only have to pay your monthly £8.99 to access them.
Sure they release a major expanstion every 2 or 3 years that usually costs £25, but lets be honest.. what other online or offline game gives you basically a sequel for free?

I saw somebody complaining on onrpg about blizzard selling a mount + pet for r/l cash, what they failed to realise is every penny of the millions the pet/mount makes goes to the make a wish childrens charity that grants a wish for terminally ill children.

On warcraft you get many city/zones/quest/storyline/events upgraded all the time, they just choose not to call them "expanstions" as you get them as part of your £8.99 sub, eve just do the same but choose to call them expantions.. when most the time you don't get hardly anything in them.

Not quite true - 50% goes to charity, the rest goes to the Blizzard christmas party fund :)

Quite right - even without buying the latest expansion you still get all of the revamped zones from 1-60, along with the updated dungeons, etc ...

I know the pets and mounts you can buy from Blizz store go to charity i have bought some of the ie the Celestial Steed Pandaren Monk and the most awesome of all Lil XT :D but what a lot of you seem to forget is that Blizz are now owned by Vivendi and are now part of Activison so they aren't their own company anymore (although why they sold out to them is beyond me because they were a great company ontheir own) they don't always have final say in what goes on with the game anymore. Blizz were interested in what its paying customers wanted but the other companies are just interested in making money and not want players want, i know they fix most bugs ingame i'll grant you but how about bugs like the tanking bug they never fixed that. Also i have never been dealt with by a GM in 20 mins even if i have put urgent on the ticket, I have been in contact with them numerous times about the bots that farm the popular spots so the gold sellers can make their profit (something of which they claim not to tolerate) and nothing has been done about them i find it frustrating as a player trying to make cash for myself and there are people who have their accounts hacked so others can profit from them. On that note rant over lol :D i am dying to try Cata i have a copy in the house and my husband won't let me have until xmas :( its nice to see some postive comments about it from others on here!!

First off, thats a terrible example. Bad Company 2 has only recently been given DLC that wasnt actually on the disc to start with. "map packs" 1 through 6 were all readily available on the disc, no download was required. The VIP code crap was simply EA's way of getting more money out of their games, and forces users to buy more than one copy of the game if they have more than one console.

Secondly, so what if faction changes etc cost so much? If people are willing to pay those prices (which they obviously are), then whats wrong with charging that much? You're basically saying that a business like Blizzard shouldnt be allowed to earn money from what it offers.

Its probably a safe bet too that half the people that are against paying monthly fees for MMO's are also the same people who pay Micro$oft £40 a year for a service that is offered for free by many other companies. Its called exploiting the userbase, every business does it.
