Looks a cracking laptop, nice to finally see some solid state hard drives available, shame it is only 32gb.

For fun I maxed every available option for the laptop and cover, not the peripherals and it came to £3379. That's just crazy.

great looking laptop,

down sides to this is that it only has a 4 cell battery at this price, but for only another £11 or so you get the 6 cell which is something everyone should get.

I cannot see the total weight is? anyone got any idea?

Great price but there are optoins like the samsung and hp but they are heavier i believe.

MikeT have the new laptops arrived and is the 1501/6400 still available?

Nice to see someone else doing a 13.3" laptop.

Before it was a choice of Sony or Packard Bell/NEC.

Alfie - Do Samsung / HP do a 13.3" ultra-portable?

I love my NEC S940 for travelling / business meeting, but at home 'er indoors commandeers it, hence my purchase of the Dell 1501

PcPro have two articles the range on their website, www.pcpro.co.uk, and say the models weigh 'less than four pounds'. The also say that although they're super-slim at the front they get deeper towards the rear hinges.

They have their reservations about the keyboard but the rest of the review is very positive...

Worlds thinest 13.3" notebook? it is 3.38cm at the thickest end and 2.21cm in the thinnest part - seems a bit misleading. For comparison the macbook is 2.75 cm along it's whole depth.

"Worlds thinnest 13.3 notebook?" Well as nedmonston points out that is rather misleading, at the thinnest part maybe but taking an average over the whole unit (2.21cm-3.38cm) the Sony SZ series are thinner (2.34cm along it's full length) and lighter (1.69Kg Vs a mininum of 1.79 kg).

Can anyone comment on the webcam and screen upgrades?
0.3 or 2MP huge difference

dunno if anyone uses webcams except for those live sex shows (performing in them).

The 0.3mp is in the upgraded screen. The upgraded screen will make a big difference, otoh doubt you'll care about the webcam.

I'll stick with my good old Dell X1, thanks. Anything >1.1kg just seems like a brick now :-p

If you want this to be thin you're going to need the LED backlight!
