Cold from me, may be cheap but it is and something that would end up in a car boot sale, money better spent these days buying a kid a pink mp3 player even if that was cheap, cd players are soooo 90's!

Each to their own, my kid has had 1 since last year and still gets hours of fun and enjoyment out of it. I paid full price, it's only 4 quid after all.

you should vote as a deal not wether you are going to buy it, use it, or already have one.

That's ridiculous. If people voted just on the price and didn't have opinions, nearly everything would go hot and there would be no point in a voting system. It's as much about rating a product as it is about the price.

Buy this piece of tat, utter waste of money

Would rather give £4 to Charley32's DONATE TO HELP FOR HEROES : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/196061/40-amazon-voucher-for-a-coupla-quid

NOT voted BTW....

there'll be a market for cd players for a while longer as the older generation may not want the hassle of 'ripping' their cds to the pc and transferring to a little mp3 player! very handy, So i wouldnt say 90s but admitedly we are living in the time of mp3s! not sure that in this case that a pink cd player will be applicable here, i'll let you know when i hit mid life crisis :whistling:

i never mentioned anything about the quality of the item off course this matters but shouldn't vote cold just because its " soooo 90's"

The reason for voting cold was that dvd players were 'soooo 90s!' or would end up in a car boot. Nothing at all to do with value, price, or even finding a cheaper alternative. Express an opinion sure, but vote cold because its so 90s? Mine has done well for a year so no car boot quite yet!

Voted hot from me! This, like the OP says, is a great stocking filler for the kiddies...as for CDs and players being sooooo '90s, the last time I ventured into HMV they still sold thousands of 'em! :|

I am not being funny, I did vote on it whether I THOUGHT it was a deal or not, a bargain is only a bargain if it is going to be used, I and others summised that it wont and I believe that money would be better spent on a kid with a little mp3 player that can store a number of songs or albums that is more durable to knocks and not have cds that can get scratched easily. Lets face it a pink cd player these days is going to have limited appeal, hence the car boot market comment....I am just expressing an opinion likewise others do, its a debate. Cheap cd players like this have been available for a fiver in lots of discount shops, and most have terrible supplied headphones and these budget no name ones dont as a rule offer any buffer caching against the liklihood of jumps and skips like models from the major brands do.

The fact that this was £15 in Woolworths to start with is ridiculous, making it in my eyes not a bargain as it is only WORTH a fiver (Even checking on Argos just they have one at £5.99 being the cheapest whicj in itself is cheap but looks nicer than this woolworths one) If you really wanted a portable cd player I think its worth spending a little bit more cash than this on one with anti skip and decent headphones by a known manufacturer, else get an mp3 player which is more practical (provided yes that you have a pc or a mac to transfer files to)

If we were not allowed to vote whether a deal is hot or cold then debates wouldnt occur and what would be the point of this website, just a shame that when we do vote things cold we have to explain in length like I have done here in "defense" of our statements, and what I have outlined I feel are practical criticisms in buying one whether £4,50 or not. I don't say these comments to "hurt" or "attack" the original poster, I much prefer to see people have others opinions on deals that dont know much about a product and prefer personally to advise people against buying something I don't deem to be a "deal". Some people might be reading this now thinking that would be a good bargain for their kid, and not know that if cd players are shaken around they skip without shock protection buffers/jog proof technology and what other marketing bumf the manufacturer gives them. My own opinion is that I am sure these days (you only have to look at the dmiminishing number of personal cd players from all electrical retailers) a kid would prefer to own a mp3 player, not just from a practicality point of view (less bulky and no cds to scratch and no song skips), but you ask any child and I am sure they would prefer to be walking around with an mp3 player these days than a cd player.

I have more of a problem with people trolling and belittling others on here rather than people expressing an opinion.
