Been looking for a good spec drill for a number of weeks and just come across this one at Argos. Seems a good spec and also has the bonus of an extra battery. I have used WORX products in the past and found them to be of good quality. Reviews are positive so have reserved one for store collection

Any feedback appricated before collection tommorow

Good price and heated it for you - but Li-on is the way to go IMO.

Feel this drill will be fine for general DIY use but know what you mean about Li-on

Might be able to drop it to £43.99 with this voucher on Argos vouchers page on HUKD. Worth a try, wont put it it title until confirmed

Your right there and Worx are a pretty good budget brand. :D

I have 2 dead nicad drills in the garage a couple of years old wouldn't pay a tenner for another one, just bought a pair of Hitachi li-ion drills from Screwfix for £150 quid great quality and as long as you don't drain them completely they should go on for years.

Went for the Hitachi too, Excellent drills and and a bonus with 2 li-ion batterys.

Agree with the comments above. Li-ion is a better technology for power tools. More power, none of that degraded performance whne the battery is dying either. The battery gives you %100 till the end.

You may not to spend £150 though, lol. Try this from B&Q.

Good make, LI-ion, only one battery though, but I thnk this would be a better buy. If you are not on-site all day,1 battery should be enough for the DIY'er

Had a worx dril, drill was fine but batteries were poor, after a coupleof years they wouldnt hold their charge and replacements were a ridiculous price so ended up buying anew drill

I think you mean as long as you DO regularly drain them completely, they should go on for years...

    From what I understand:
Li Ion batteries DO NOT like getting drained regularly.
Ni Cad do need draining regularly.

My Bosch Li Ion drill seems to have some electronic control to stop the drill when the battery reaches a certain level. All I can say, is I hope the Li Ion cells last a lot longer then the Ni Cads on the previous Bosch drill.

I agree with what other people have said.

I had an old heavy 24v NiCAD drill before my 18v Hitachi Li-ion drill that Ive had since about 2009 - its had some heavy use, and especially so over the last 3 weeks (4-6 battery packs put through a day) and still going strong. The twin kits for £150 are a steal - only have one myself but got it when they did the hammer drill with 2 batteries for £100 - and then brought it on a 20% off weekend - deal. In comparison if I brought a NiCAD in 2009 - it would have needed new batteries by 2010 probably with my usage + the Li-Ions have much more torque.

If you can wait for a good deal and use your drill a lot it can be more cost effective long term to spend an extra £35 or so like I did. The only thing on my Hitachi now after 3 years of heavy use is the chuck is a bit worn.

(normal average usage at a guess for me is a battery pack a day, 5 days a week - but 4-6 a day when I'm on a big job)

I have just been instore and the voucher does not work any more. They are aware it is has been posted on Hotukdeals.com and no longer accepting it. So no doubt someone from argos head office will be reading this, and monitoring forum. Gutted I wasted petrol to travel there. did not buy at 53 or what ever. O well..
