Another review I found from CNET australia for this TV:

http://www.cnet.com.au/tvs/lcd/0,39035307,40059182,00.htm

It gets 10/10 in the user reviews...

@ Gary - yeah I noticed that! £400 discount since it was reviewed, I think the value might be slightly higher than 8/10 now

From the Viewsonic website, this is stated as having an 8ms response time. Imagine hooking this up to my computer and playing Half Life 2 using my X1900XT!!!

There's a very detailed specification here if anyone's interested:

It looks very nice and the reviews are good too :)

40" display for gaming... Phew! Could really feel a part of the game :o

Might need to sit a way back from the telly to see it all properly though...

Hi Emmajk42,

Great find!. Am drooling over this offer. Agree 100% that Viewsonic make excellent products. They're a very well respected manufacturer from what I understand. Shame Dixons.co.uk don't seemingly have any working discount codes on consumer electronics/AV as Egg.com are offering 5% instant cash back :-(.

Further details on this product can be found here:

Not read the PDF in detail but must ask do Viewsonic not offer 3-year warranties on these products anymore?. Think that this model carries a 1-year warranty. This is the only downfall afaik. Quite a lot of money to spend for a 40" LCD HD TV 1-year warranty especially whilst comparing with the offering from Aldi (40" LCD HD TV with Samsung panel and Twin LG Tuners) with a 3-year no quibble warranty. Not a big fan of Samsung though admittedly as their customer service for MP3 based products for example is awful IMHO. Whether or not their consumer electronics division offer a better level of customer service i'm not sure.

Edit: 09:50 02/09/06.

Think that this product carries a 2-year warranty.

Has anybody bought this through QuidCo?

They offer 2% cashback for Currys :)

They also have discount codes for use on checkout - does anybody know if you can combine the codes to get the TV at an even cheaper price?
#15
Answer my own question I will, quidco discount codes are for June this year, expired they have.

Must stop talking like Yoda ;)

Hi, The only codes that i'm aware of that DSGi (Currys.co.uk / Dixons.co.uk and PCWorld.co.uk respectively)allow to be combined are one discount code and one free delivery code however I might be wrong on that. Let's say for arguments sake you use a discount code for £20.00, free delivery and nhs192 from HotUKDeals the latter code cancels the discount code for £20.00. Hope that makes some sense and is of some help.

Yeah, the two codes I have included in the original post are the best combination of discounts I could find for this lovely television. (Can you tell I want one?)
