Wyke Farm Rich And Creamy Mature Cheddar Cheese 600gms £1.99 at Lidl

£1.99 @ LIDL
Yes, not a misprint. This is a whopping 600gms of mature cheddar cheese for just £1.99! It is actually made at Wyke Farm in Somerset - Cheddar cheese from Somerset, fancy that!

Price is fine, sadly NOT for mature cheese lovers so don't get carried away with the "mature" part of it's title! I tried it while a this price for 400g recently elsewhere - bland and insipid is the kindest I can be about it, don't know where they dreamed that this was "mature" in any sense.

Wyke Farms cheese tends to disappoint generally, as at best it is ordinary factory produced Cheddar, but this range is particularly poor :-(

I've found Wyke Farms mature cheese ok.Certainly better than Pilgrims Plastic!
This is a very good price for those that like it so heat added.

Bought one of the other mature cheeses on offer at Lidl last week.
Currently on David Stow from Tesco, which was on offer ridiculously cheap a few weeks back.
Now that is a quality mature cheese.:-D

Well, it's a good long while since I tried and hated Pilgrim's Choice, I would find it hard to argue, but seeing as you are right about the Davidstow, I am crediting you as knowing the score, so it might just be a matter of personal likes & dislikes! :-)

My personal favourite Factory Cheddar is Parkham Farms from Somerfield, which the Coop seem to be keeping in the range since they took over, but have pumped the price up dramatically!

Only bought it once so far, but Aldi stock a cheese under their own label of Bishops Land which is stonking, and I was quite taken by it - first time of buying it though, so don't know if it is consistently as good! (sells for £1.49 for 200g as their standard price,so fine for when there are no cheap deals of other decent stuff around!)
