what size were the drives?

are you serious ? are you assuming hard drive ? if so heres your answer. used for playing the "dead" format of HD DVD however very sought after item as can obtain very cheap HD dvds from places like HMV (online) and others, but stay away if your looking for the new stuff coz it aint coming.

Opps mis-read the post thought it was for a hard drive

HOT Bought one of these from TK Max Cheetham Hill earlier tonight. Main reason, to install different OS on a couple of Netbooks. The ability to play HD DVDs is just a bonus for me. BTW the accompanied Back lit Remote is worth £15.00 alone.

P.S. Cheetham Hill (Manchester) had 3 left, if it helps someone

Great as external drive for aspire acer one or any notebook with no optical drive found mine in blackpool day before yesterday should have posted but only confirmed compatability today thanks scotty boy and zermatbusby

Or you could use the drive to make yourself a laser gun/pen thingy-ma-bob :P

Hot? How can this be hot? Please remember that HD-DVD drives are no longer in use. Yes, you can still buy some old films but they are no longer producing these as blu-ray won this fight!

you can use this as a regular DVD drive as well. quite handy to have a game in the Xbox, and a DVD in the HD-DVD drive (personally this is the only device have that.upscales for my HDTV). Also, the remote is worth the entry price alone!

the remote and its function as an external drive on a laptop aside, I can buy this drive AND most films on HD-DVD for less than the Blu-ray disc alone.

Stop it. Stop it now. Tell me, did every HD DVD drive stop working when Toshiba pulled the plug? Is a High Def movie any less enjoyable because it's a dead format. No, of course not.

Did you even read that you get a 360 remote and can use the drive for other uses, like installing software onto netbooks FOR £20!

Hot. Allows a few more months of ignoring overpriced and under performing BluRay as it approaches its inevitable demise. They STILL havnt got the profile thing sorted out. Buy a standalone Blu Ray player now and its already obsolete lol. At least HD DVD did it all from day 1.

Downloads and online streaming are the solution of the future. e.g. Netflix HD downloads already available on the Xbox 360.

Poor quality blu-ray players? I dont know where you heard that.

I've had mine since launch and its still going strong, in fact funnily enough its had a much longer life than the HD-DVD format.

Out of interest does anyone know if there will be a minutes silence next month for the anniversary of its death?? :whistling:

Don't know about a minutes silence, mine is still alive and well..

I may celebrate by watching planet earth HD that I picked up for a tenth of the price of the blue ray version on my £20 HD Player.

Just got one from Ipswich, if anyone else wants one I can pop over and pick one up, there were a couple there when I left.

Maybe in a good 10 years time or so. UK is not even close to having an infrastructure capable of supporting this and nobody wants to pay the bill.

Not a bad price on this, didn't know Netbooks supported these, makes it ideal :-)

I used that code but was not as greedy as I should have been thinking they would maybe cancel if I ordered 50 or more LOl so I only ordered some of the £3.49 ones like purple rain and ones I would not normally buy with them being £3.49

Great item but not the best selection of films available now.
I have over 170 and keep looking for a few more but the prices are going up more and more each week.
