I'm guessing this is in reponse to Amazon's November pre-order deal for around the same price. This version is available now from HMV. Factor in 8% Quidco and this becomes a no-brainer - only a pound a disk.

Next nearest price is price is £135.

One of television's biggest phenomenons during its ten-year run, Chris Carter's THE X-FILES established a whole new genre of show, blending science-fiction with drama in a truly original manner. Contains all the episodes from series 1 to 9 of THE X-FILES.

If i didnt already have them on dvd i would have got this, ive got half the seasons with the collectors edition case then the other half with the normal m lock ones, would be nice to get them all the same...

I can get 10% off this with my student discount, then quidco, If I could offload my partners individual discs this would be worth it

Good deal :)
#4
If only I could find the time to watch them all.

HMV are offering "The X Files - Complete Collection" quoted as 63dvd's by hmv and 59 by Amazon. Details from FOX here

Amazon's deal is on the "The X Files - The Complete Collector's Edition " which is quoted as having 61 dvd's

I've got a feeling that the amazon one has the movie in it as well ??

Cheers

so is the movie the only difference? If so I'm not too bothered tbh. Think I might already have it somewhere, can be picked up for a couple of quid anyway i think.

Didn't I read somewhere that there were issues with the way the older 'complete X-files' is packaged - flimsy outer packaging with some DVD boxes not matching?

I've ordered from Amazon with the hope that the packaging will be more consistent.

Can any X-Files fan tell me if the series actually came to a conclusion and didn't leave you wondering what was going to happen next?
I use to watch the series but gave up when there seemed to be no end in site

I bought this set back in April for £109 from Bensons which was the cheapest back then, so this deal is a bargain, voted hot.

There is some mis-selling going on regarding the number of disks which I discovered. Somebody assumed that each season had 7 disks to come up with a total of 63. The error has been repeated by copying of the original incorrect description.

There are not 63 disks in this set just 59 as you get with the individual sets. In fact, you actually get the individual M-Lock sets in a presentation box. Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, & 9 have seven disks and seasons 5, 6, 7 & 8 have six disks.

The rumour that this is made from inconsistent box sets is utter bull, the disks are all brand new and of a similar and consistent design.

I am not sure what packaging people expect but the outer box is designed to look like an evidence box similar to those in the x-files, it's a box with a lid much like a shoe box. It's not flimsy.

I've been buying the magazine/dvd collection monthly for a while now, worked out i've spent over £200 on it, gutted this has come out now at this price:x

Oooohhhh... two awesome X-files boxsets...

Should I wait for the 2 extra discs? hmmmm.
banned#15
mine's been despatched. It should be around ~£6 less with quidco, so makes sense to me. btw what is the other disc if one extra is the film? (or is it a 2disc ed of the film?)
#16
I'm confused now. I've pre-ordered the version from Amazon. Which version has got more disks with it, Amazon or HMV? I assume the Amazon one will have different packaging to this one as it is a newer release?

Amazon one has more. the 63 discs is based upon a miscalculation that each series has 7 discs (which is wrong).

That's great - thanks for all the extra info.

Mine's been dispatched also :)

Amazon version appears to come with the movie and a disc of "X Files Mythology documentaries".

At £69.97, it's the same price, but no quidco available.

What is not clear from all the sites I've viewed is if the discs themselves come with any extra "special features" or material.

No. You'll just get it sooner. The Amazon set has two extra discs - The Movie and a documentary. Plus maybe better packaging.
