Well worth the money. I bought a couple and my house mate was impressed enough to buy some for himself.
#5
Really good item every mp3 player shold have one!!!
#7
are they mono ?
#8
Had mine on holiday and didn't need charging at all, and used every day for 2 weeks, superb sounds too.
#9
Just ordered these, hopefully will do the business.

Got two from Play last month when they were £13.99

Excellent little speakers for the size.
#11
Yeah, if you don't have one, buy one! they are awesome for the size. Battery seems to last forever and a day as well.
3 of my friends want one now after hearing it.
#12
these are amazing little speakers. got one the last time these went hot
#13
I ordered one of these the last time the offer popped up here. Its mighty impressive. I've yet to charge it (came fully charged). I absolutely love it. Going to order another one with the stereo splitter cable. Really robust and clever design.
#14
If you are happy waiting, those are £1 from DealExtreme.

By the way, that won't give you stereo if you buy two speakers to go with it - unless the speakers have a switch to select left or right channel.
#15
very hot. I bought one and immediately had to give it to my dad and get another one after he saw mine and fell in love. three mates have seen it since and bought their own.

they're excellent for mp3 players, giving your laptop a bit more thump, I even used mine to play music for a beach party, you can really crank 'em up. :)
#16
I too ordered one on that last £13.99 deal and it is a brilliant little speaker. Was pumping up tunes all day long last weekend while I was painting my garage. Very impressive for the size, and even more impressive for the price.
I was also surprised about the battery life. I expected it run flat before the weekend was up, but it just keeps going and going. :)
#17
Thanks. Ordered

i need to upgrade to this model, i still have the old one which was awesome before the usb cable broke:(

Wrong splitter: will give you stereo twice (so you end up with two XMI's with same sound in mono)

if you want stereo on two you need one of these:

They're the same functionally - the two pictures ought to make it obvious what the difference is.

Has it been confirmed that these will actually work, i.e. that the speaker uses resistors rather than shorts together the tip and ring of the plug?
#22
This is indeed a very good speaker. Tiny and powerful.

I reviewed it here;

Shame you didn't discuss the important aspect of it being mono and the hoops you need to jump through to make it stereo, e.g. people will think that daisy-chaining two together will give you stereo, but I presume that it won't.
#24
Another vote fot Hot. I got one of these last time round and was super pleased with it

Ordered 5. Also Ordered 1 at 13.99 a few weeks a go and my unckle hooked it to his iphone, looked blown away at the sound and immediatley said hes 'having it', which is cool considering the amount of free booze I consume at his offey.
#26
brought one for my son for his ipod touch brill sound

Regarding the whole stereo/mono thing, is stereo the left and right sound combined and mono is either the left or right speaker sound. So connecting 2 xmi's will sound the same but just louder, however using the mono splitter it will kind of be like surround sound? Is this correct?

Very good reviews of the product here. Heat added.tempted to buy
Can somebody tell how does this sound compared to listening on iphone speaker.

thanks

yup, they just plug into the headphone jack, so the ipod just treats them as earphones

Using the mono splitter and two speakers should (if it works) give stereo. As you say, daisy-chaining will just produce mono - which is what you get if you combine (mix) left and right channels rather than feeding them to separate speakers. Seems they've missed an opportunity by not having a switch on each speaker to select left, right or mono. Then you could daisy-chain two speakers to get stereo (setting one to left and one to right).
#34
It's a great price for them if you don't mind the lack of stereo.

The reason why they've dropped in price is because the X-Mini Max 2's are out in 2 days time.

http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=ELEC&searchstring=X-Mi+X-Mini+Max+2+Portable&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0

The Max 2's are stereo, have slightly better battery life, and have angled speaker shrouds for better accoustics - so it's £34.99 vs £27.59 + cost of stereo splitter + headache and wires getting Stereo out of them for 2 * old X-Minis ... that's a £7.40 difference which I'll leave to you to decide if it's worth spending.
#35
All those "angled speaker shrouds" will do is attempt to get a bit more stereo out of a single unit with speakers fundamentally too close together, so you might consider that by buying two of the older models you will get better stereo.

Amazon have just matched the price, if your not keen on Play or they run out of stock.
I have noticed when play are out of stock Amazon up the price, so be quick.
