A bit of insider knowledge given to me found this very nice bargain - a whole 3 quid cheaper than play.com!

There's also a discount card being given out at the moment for up to 20% off in store (doesn't start until 11th April - next monday) so the price paid could potentially be £8.79!

Here's a nice little YT review/unboxing thing (although the ones I have seen do not come in a box that big): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9fCm3S34es&feature=fvwrel

And a HQ sound test - obviously the quality depends on your speakers though, so kinda pointless but I know some people might appreciate it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs3FROrQVaA&feature=fvwrel

And of course the spec: http://www.whsmithentertainment.co.uk/electronics/ipod-accessories/x-mi-x-mini-ii-2nd-generation-capsule-ipod/-mp3-speaker/10059818.html

Not sure that the price will be the same online - current price online (£14.93) is different to that instore (£12.99) anyway.

I have two of these speakers and they are amazing for holidays. They charge via mini USB and last well over 24 hours. You can also link them together to give more volume.

Nice price. Was looking for a replacement for my B-tube. I got a similar Veho speaker. What a waste of money (at least it was cheap). My phone has the same volume and much more bass.
Will try this if my local WHS stocks them. Thanks.

are they any good ?quality wise

Yes they are, really well made and for their size they produce really good sound. I've got 2 and I might get a few more...
#5
Will have a look tomorrow :)
#6
What do you have to buy to get the 20% discount card?
#7
Never seen these in smiths before.
#8
tried to look for them in local before but they didn't have it. perhaps they have these for sell at bigger stores.
#9
Quality sound from something so small
#10
The discount card is given out with each transaction, you don't have to buy anything specific. I'm not sure if it changes weekly so those who haven't already got one may be too late.

I don't think its just the bigger stores that stock them - my local is tiny, I was pretty surprised to find out that they sold them when they don't even do DVDs!

These are fantastic portable speakers. I have the X-Mini Max 2 version. I bought them after a recommendation from a friend who owns the X-Mini 2's.

You can also link them together to improve the sound. I use them with my ipod in the kitchen or when I watch iPlayer on the laptop. They're not intended to replace a HiFi but for a small portable speaker, they're very good.

These were priced at £12.99 in my local branch yesterday. Are you saying that tomorrow the price drops to £10.99?

You get a voucher whenever you buy something from the shop - at least you're meant to. The vouchers change every few weeks - the 20% off one isn't valid until the 11th of April, and I'm not sure if they're still being given out.

Agree, it would have been nice if they could have built in a stereo out for linking the speakers. I ended up buying a 2 quid cable off ebay which connects to the source device and splits the output to 2 x mono outputs so you can link these in stereo though so easy to get around the problem.

I've got four of these linked this way (2 per channel) and they sound great as portable speakers. Great battery life too.

are they good for laptops? as they have to be charged then i think its not a good idea to buy for laptops.... can any 1 suggest a portable speaker for laptop......

They charge via USB, so you just leave them plugged in while using them with a laptop - no problem at all. Fantastic speakers.

heated. good speaker for the size/money
#28
Awesome little speakers.I bought one a while back from play.com to just mess around with on my phone, but it is now used everywhere, I even use it for my gym it is that powerful.
#29
There seems to be a lot of love for these. I'll definitely have to check it out.

Thanks OP.
#30
Does anyone know if you can get these online? i tried searching but nothing

Just one thing to watch out for with these. Bought one for each of my kids and neither of them lasted a year. They don't like being dangled by the wire!
#33
got two of these amazing! so funny when the base kicks in and the speakers start moving!

Brilliant for the price got mine recommended to me through Apple store £13.99 on Amazon
#34
hmmm... ive looked at these before and may have to give 'em a go now... i wish they were around £5 though so i could splurge on a few

I've just received a similar item in the post today called a Hamburger Mini Speaker from Focalprice for only about £3.30. It's very tiny and has a great sound. Not sure how it compares but it looks similar. Sadly it took a while to ship from Hong Kong, but if interested have a look at the details here

They're pretty good but I haven't compared them side by side to say which is better. The only reason that I went for the Max 2's at the time was due to thw white ones being sold off cheap.

There some video reviews on You Tube which may be worthwhile checking out.
#39
just confirmed my local store has them in stock and at this price!
#40
could you charge these using the mains adapter for an iphone? but with the x-mi's usb lead?
