These are worth retail £5 each seriously they break so easily cost about £1.99 to make. Lots of fun though but not at this price.

great price... Well worth it.
I find them impossible to break...

This is too expensive. Toys R Us had them before xmas for £29.

They break so easily and you'd be so cheesed after forking out this money.

they were 39 at toys are us before christmas.

this item looks v similar to the £40 ebuyer item that I bought for a little less before Xmas.
If it is the same (and the Play description / images are v similar), then although the helicopters are supplied with their own rechargeable batteries, they are charged via the hand-held remote control unit which itself takes 6 x AA batteries. Neither the helicoptors nor the remote control unit are supplied with any mains adaptors / chargers. It is advisable to budget for 2 x 6 lots of AA rechargeables otherwise this could become a very expensive item v quickly.
But great fun. One rear helicopter rotor busted on first day but 1 spare each is supplied with the ebuyer items. Could be up smelly creek without a paddle if it goes again.

You may have a point for "standard" micro-copters, but these are a variation on a theme.
Two are supplied and they are supposed to be used simultaneously by two pilots in a dogfight situation and either of the copters can "knock-out" the other via infra-red "shots". Think they have a limited number of 100 shots before each copters arsenal is exhausted, leaving it vunerable to attack from the other.
Is it worth the additional dosh for this feature? Personal choice.

Can anyone advise on what would be a good buy for a 'standard' micro copter? My son wants one for his 7th birthday and we don't need anything fancy, just fairly tough and easy to fly! Any help on this would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

get a siverlit branded one, picco z etc... dont get immitations, they arent as easy to fly, and break alot eaasier. Also spares are easier to get hold of.
#9
Cheers for that - I'll have a look!
