If you're trying to purchase the map pack on the 360 itself and are seeing it at 800points then visit the deal link to buy it on Xbox.com, sign in with the same login details you use on your 360, and it will show at 400points.
----------------------------

The Map Pack for COD4 is only 400points, down from 800points. It works out approximately £3.50 give or take 30ish pence depending on how much you paid for the points in the first place. I would put 400 points in the price box but it would look like 400 pounds!

The Variety Map Pack includes four new multiplayer maps.

"Creek" is a wide-open village ravaged by combat where concealment is the difference between life and death.

In "Broadcast," fight throughout an enemy communications building with confined corridors and wide-open parking lots.

"Chinatown" is a foggy downtown district, lit only by a full moon and the neon glow of the city.

"Killhouse" features a desolate training warehouse filled with a variety of building mock-ups and soft and hard cover points. (only available in Team Tactical game mode or private and offline play!)

Here's a youtube video showing a brief fly-thru of each map...

#9
scorchio! bought, thanks
#10
wish the would bring out another map pack for it. That one is quality
#11
Brilliant deal. Buy this and you save a lot on the GOTY edition.

It seems like the only people that play this now are ridicolously good and I seem to have no chance these days even though I was once ranked about 10,000 or thereabouts. Its ridiculously hard now, so I wont be buying it, even though its about the only other decent thing i've seen for my points after my gta4 upgrade.

plenty of newbies still play, it's a bit easier to rack up points without being bombed on the small games, but you get more experience of heavy firefights and tactics with the large games, i try to play ktfo when i can to get in practice, killhouse is crazy with lots of players, best to tactic is to nade and then used the knife, creek is cool you can use all tactics on it, so varied
#14
can someone who has already downloaded these let me recover their gaemrtag to allow me to download them to my hardrive. In return i will give you a £2.50 amazon voucher

Yes but it sucked due to having to spend £300+ gfx card and £100 on a high power psu to play it : :p

You get placed with users around your own skill level, although it seems to mainly take your original rank into account rather than prestige levels, so the higher you rank even the first time, the more likely you're going to see people have been through 10 prestige levels.

I only seem to play with users who have prestiged a quite a few times now, although a mate of mine joined my party (hes new to the game) and i started seeing some other low ranked players brought into the games too - so they are there, you just dont really see them.

I can regularly come top 2 with kills against people who have prestiged 10 times though, so although playing lots improves your skills, it doesnt necesserily mean its easy to kill. I've found you go 'hot and cold' - some games you can play awesome, same maps again, same players you can suck.

It was meant to be like that but don't think it works as I join where there are at least 8 or nine 55 prestiges
. I like shooting them with a pistol to wind em up

Although doable, very risky, and could result in getting banned.

In regards to the deal, its about time COD4 players got something, after Infinity Ward screwed us over on new playlists and more maps etc.

This gives anyone who hasnt got the maps a chance to get them for a decent price. Its annoying being in a party when someone doesnt have them. We paid for them, but cant use them when soemone doesnt have it.

Nope... but eBay might have it!
#23
Well I have to say that even for 400 points its not worth it.
Creek is just a Sniper lever & pretty poor at that.
Broadcast is just 1 big building with 2 little Sniper buildings opposite, so again you'll either be playing Sniper Tennis or running around blind thru all the little corridoors.
China Town is a total rip off of the Carentan map on COD2 but brought up to present day & set at night. Its layed out exactly the same.
The other new map is a single player online map (for single player deathmatch) which is in a warehouse with lots of training style areas (like at the start of the offline game). Its a small map.
Every time these maps come up me & my friends vote to skip as theyre useless. Wish I hadnt wasted 800 points on them now.

Well, console gamers spend the same if not more in the end due to the inflated price of their games that is used to make up for the heavily subsidized console.

Also, I'm playing on a system that I put together in 2005 at full settings, an equivalent could be built now for less than £150. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Heh, I like an optimist!
#28
good price but i still wont buy, would download if free, but i dont buy add on content, because if you sell the game, youre left with money spent on something you cant use, i prefer to buy full games on XBLA.

good deal if you want it, but i dont play COD4 at all (i have 3,4 and 5 but ive only ever played 3) and as for online play, well i like to have a play and not be killed in 2 seconds, thats a waste of time and bandwidth so i stick to offline.

And neither do you pretending you are running at full frames with AA and any newer features turned up to the max using 1920x1080 or higher on an Intel 950 gma or a x1100 or 1200 and you only bought 1 game and get the idea of irony as in joking as in the smilie used to end it after the initial PC gamer was smirking a post on how the maps were free OK :lol

The lowest price for the normal edition I could find was £29.35 and the lowest price on the game of the year edition I could find was £24.99

I don't use AA, but I run at 1440x900 at over 60FPS with all other features turned up as high as they can go.

Still looks way better than on 360 too regardless of the fact that the 360 uses some AA.

And I'm not using an Intel card, don't know where you got that idea.

Update

The promotion for half price map pack actually runs until the 5th March. The double XP and extra game mode of Hardcore Headquarters is still only this weekend (27/02 to end of 1/03)

Good for you try running it at full everything on your gfx card at the games highest res actually can you run your card & CPU thru a benchmark program like futuremark then do me a favour and post the results

Co's the 2x SLI ati x1950 xt on a quad core 6600 with 4 gig ram I ran were just about good enough for call of duty 4 to my liking on higher settings as in on a par with the 360 without screen tearing , movement jerkiness like you get on lots of pc games(people put up with it I don't like to, lots of people do not even notice it, I do)

I prefer consoles for games* you know where you stand and that the game will run on the hardware you have. I prefer my Pc's for video editing, Cs2. Having a keyboard is very handy for typing.

*There is a trade of as you get a little jipped on levels price of games/ online play, games are just as cheap on the xbox 360 and ps3 as they are on PC but you generally have to wait for them to drop down to pc games initial price.
#36
You can buy and download this without having the game right? I've had 880 points doing nothing for a while now and expect i'll pick up a used copy of the game some time soon (just not before 5th march)

I am running it as high as the games options go. My monitor is 1440x900 and that resolution is more than adequate for me. I don't really do benchmarks as they don't generally reflect what games put the system through. I know my PC is old and can't play a lot of new games but COD4 is one that it can run, and at full settings too.

I get no screen tearing, I've seen it before too on a mates rig so I do notice it. I don't get any jerkiness either.

I agree, consoles are a good cheap quick solution and do generally run the game how it is supposed to run, I just prefer PC's and I hate the controller pads for consoles. I like being able to tweak and modify stuff too and the console homebrew scene is to scarce for my liking. I like being able to have mods too.

Well I have an single x850xt and 2 gig of RAM and run the game fine at high settings with high fps, don't know what's wrong with your "SLI'd"(it's called crossfire for ATI) x1950 examples. Oh yeah and I have a single core processor...
