I tried out the game trial and i didnt like it, though i have no nostalgia towards the old games.
Dont think it works so well with the controller honestly. would be better with a mouse/kb i think.

Just wish they'd put geometry wars 2 or braid on special offer again, not going to pay more than £5 for an XBLA game :/

absolute sh*t game don't get with your life.

I might get it for nostalgia, although I already have it on Steam. 400 points = about £3?

Great news! Will finally buy it.

If you were born in the 90's you're not allowed to pass judgement on this game.
#14
This was a... that's quite enough.

Fantastic game. The only people saying otherwise are probably the same people who won't watch a Three Stooges film because they're in black and white and won't listen to Hendrix as he doesn't get played on Radio 1.

Losing the SCUMM interface robbed it of a little charm though. I have the PC version, allows you to switch between the original and SE via a keypress, it's interesting to see how things have changed.

Can't see it being much fun if you don't have a mouse to play with though, could make it quite difficult in places.

Awesome game! Le Chucks Revenge is out later in the year too ... now if they would re-release Day of the Tentacle!

I was born in mid 80's and I'm a big fan of the first two Monkey Island. I did not appreciate this "remake" at all. I don't see the point of this special edition really. Modern kids will like it perhaps... but I have my doubts on that. Paradoxically the new one feels much less graphically detailed than the old one.

When I first heard of Monkey Island release for xbox I was hoping to be able to play the old classics on the new console just as they were back in the day (including Prince of Persia, possibly the SNES version) but no... they have to mess around with some of them.
I wouldn't get this one if it was free. Honestly.
I haven't voted either way.

You can do that on the 360 by pressing the back key! Its mad to see the difference!

Anyway, if you played this years ago you NEED to pick it up, so much nostalgia, i love it.

Hot :)

No way is this a rubbish game, this is one that everyone couldn't wait for a sequel

I'm 33 now and have this on my PC and on my iPhone, I'm not that sad to play it all the hours of the day but I am keeping it just to have it for nostalgic sake. This game in the 90's was what MW2, WOW, MGS..(I could go on) do for everyone these days

classic game and will never die, just hope they follow it up with the sequel
#29
IMO it wasn't a very successful update. The new interface didn't work well at all on the 360 (something like holding up and right on the plus pad to switch to "use"). The voices were great, but the updated graphics changed too much. When switching to "legacy mode" the voices weren't available and neither were the numerous antialiasing options available in SCUMM VM. I only paid 400 points at xmas and finished the game twice in 2 hours, however I blame myself for that. Even though I hadn't played the game for over a decade, I could still remember the solution (except for getting the mints, I clean forgot that you just bought them at the store).
#30
Is this like the old skool amiga game?
#31
Got excited when this was on offer a few months back.
Downloaded the demo but didn't like it.
This was a blast on the PC but some things are beft left in the past.
#32
@ mekon

Did you not know that you can change the settings from PC to special edition HD (make it old skool type)

On the iPhone all you do is swipe the screen and it changes, very cool :)
#33
I tend to have a lucasarts session once every couple of years, Loom,SOMI, Indy, Sam & Max, The Dig, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle and the greatest adventure game, possibly the best PC game ever, Grim Fandango.

dx? flash man, only had the sx and how duke nukem and quake suffered because of it :(

you cant go wrong for 400 points, its a classic game, give it time all your newbs, its a bit slow to start but really is a good story and has some pretty funny parts along the way.

I am suprsed we have not had any "sword" fighting here yet,

You fight like a dairy farmer!
#36
How appropriate you fight like a cow
#37
“Look behind you, a Three-Headed Monkey!”

I never played this as a kid but bought it the last time it was on offer. Really enjoyed it, especially the dialogue. I'd certainly recommend it on the PC.
#39
Nearly forgot about this and just checked that I only have 360 points left on my account so I brought a 2100 prepaid card from HMV online for £14.32 including student discount of course.
