I'd say YES.

For an extra £30:

More or less equal quality games, if not better.
Newer chipset (Valhalla)
Uses less power
Runs cooler
Quieter
Better CPU/GPU cooling
Double to storage capacity.

I don't see how it's not worth the little extra money.

# The only thing you don't get is the extra controller, but those can be picked up v.cheap

unless you are seriously short of cash, get the new 250Gb Slim version.

Thanks K1ller & Grid, will give thought to the new one - not completely broke so can probably stretch the extra...although I know a lot of people have been saying to hold off until all potential bugs worked out? I'm still not sure if I go for 360 or PS3, but I have a thread in misc to try and gauge peoples views.

The games are/will be the same for both consoles. There are no 'New 360' exclusives.
The extra storage really depends on what you tend to do with the console. I only have 1 CD copied onto mine and the rest is used for game updates so for that a 20gb HD suits me fine. The only benefit I can see in the new console is the cooler/quieter running, which personally doesn't justify the price difference.

dont forget built in wireless as well if you have to go wireless the official adapter is 45 quid, making the new 360 a no brainer.......infact if this is your first 360 the new slim is a no brainer imho

Add Super Street Fighter IV into your basket with a new 360 S and one or both of the game packs and hope that you get away with it costing only £2 more.

By equal quality games, I mean the games that come bundled. I know the new 360 isn't any more powerful than the old ones.

Well I'm pretty sure a lot of people install most of their frequently played games onto their HDD.
I've used up around 140GB on Installed Games (up to 7GB each), HD Videos/Trailers, DLC, XBLA Games.

As stephen25uk already stated, the XBOX 360 S is a no brainer. Well worth it over the older versions for £30 more. Especially with 250GB HDD & WiFi N.

If you plan to connect to your router wirelessly then the new console is indeed a no brainer.

If however you are using it as a stand alone machine or connecting via a cable then this is a good deal.

For those of you still undecided about whether to get an old or new Elite, the new one is extremely quiet. Rather than having a pair of fast 40mm fans, it has a single slow 80mm fan. On top of that, the DVD drive is on rubber mounts so it doesn't vibrate through the case.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the old Elite unless you were making a massive saving (i.e. half price).

On the minus side, the new console doesn't have the 3 year RROD warranty. You get the basic 1 year.

you will get the 3yr warranty if they have the same problem again!!!!!
i bought the s the other day and it does run much quieter,it has touch sensitive buttons for power on and eject also. ;-)
i am selling my network adapter and 60gb HD to recoup the extra money it costs over the elite.
