If you guys are voting cold please make sure its a like for like comparison and not a diy upgrade drive or an addon external drive

This is NOT a DIY drive or an external drive or a PS3 drive

Oh and let us know where you can get it cheaper as well!

I posted this a couple of weeks back and it didn't do well.

Not bad not bad, had to pay £88 in Jan for one of these as that was the best price going then. Hot.
#4
This is horrendous value for money for what it is!
However, it's the cheapest around if you really need this item, so I can't really vote cold.
I usually vote something hot because it's:

1. The cheapest around and
2. Value for money

Not voted either way!

Agreed it may be the least expensive price for a 120gb 360 hard drive but when there are deals for 1tb drives for less than this theres no way i can justify voting it hot.

Why can you not vote hot?

Why do people twitter on about 1tb drives? :x

This is a post for a 120gb XBOX 360 drive at a very good price not anything else.

We all know Microsoft are ripping us off on Xbox360 drives, but treat the post for what is is,
probably the cheapest OFFICIAL 360 add on drive at the moment.

Not everbody wants to P**S about trying to install a third party drive, they want to know where they can get an official 120gb drive CHEAP!

This site is full of moaning farts comparing products of a different specification.

Hot UK Deals is for Cheap prices on particular products, don't go comparing different ones!!

If it's COLD then its cold because it's not cheap.

Thanks chelskii for your sensible comments!

I'd buy one of these if I could install my games onto the hard drive rather than having to run them off the disks but I can't so I won't.

If M$ are listening, I'm fed with getting "unreadable disk" on pristine genuine disks when being able to use the hard drive would circumvent this irritation.

As it stands, why would anyone need a 120Gb HDD anyway? Cold for me, overpriced and unuseable.

You have this a bit mixed up, you CAN indeed install your games to this hard drive that is the point of it,

A hot deal for me is something that is great value for money, this isn't.

Might be worth noting that if you require extra space without upgrading your HDD then this might be a better option

I was eyeing this up last weekend, it is by far the cheapest around at the moment , and for that reason i am voting hot!.......although it is fricking annoying that these are so expensive pound per GB...
#13
Looks like a decent deal, for the official 120gb drive, to me.

I just wish they would wake up and realise that with all the goodies on XBL 120gb is not enough.

Especially not now you can play games off of the hard drive (surely the only way to play them)?

Toshiba do a 500gb 2.5" drive.
Something like that at the old 120gb price (about £100) would be so much more like it.

That's not relevant to the context though.

The bottom line:

- Cheapest deal for a 120gb Xbox360 Hard drive

So it's hot.

@ all the people giving out about M$ rip off prices for add ons....

Just remember these are luxury items, and the high price of these are justified by the fact that the console itself is heavily heavily subsidised. If these HD's and wireless adapters were sold at a lower price, we all probably would have been paying alot more for the initial cost of the xbox.

Its not a rip off or a scam, its their business plan.

Wow never seen one of these before. Pretty good idea, i'm surprised there aren't any cheaper knock offs about though as @ £29.99 you may aswel get a HDD.
#18
I got one in the HMV sale (£40 i think?) and it's almost full already as i rip all my games to the harddrive..well, all but halo3 anyway.

£70 isn't bad considering the moody versions of these drives are flooded on ebay and going for similar prices.

As people have said, this is the best price around for this product right now it would seem. If you really object to the price and have a few tech skills, you might want to pick up a 120GB western digital BEVS drive from Ebuyer, flash the firmware and move all your content over yourself. It takes a bit of time to do it carefully but it worked out at £35 for me vs the current price of the official MS product.

There's a tutorial on it here

got one when it was on sale a few weeks ago from HMV for £30, which I think is all it's worth, would never pay £70 for 120gb, M$ defo ripping ppl off with expensive prices for peripherals to compensate for selling the console cheap. Just because something is cheap doesn't straight away means it's a good deal.

and LOL @ chelskii now fanboy hating, you & along with a few other 360 fanboys have done plenty of trolling in other PS3 thread, now trying act all fair & neutral, must have gotten warnings from mods :whistling:

Further to my 'I want a bigger than 120gb hard drive' comments how about this as a suggestion (for those who are on various Xbox forums etc)......

How about they hurry up and enable the USB port to let us hook up the HDD of our choice?

Surely it's not beyond the wit of a firm like Microsoft to enable this (still keeping to the requirement that to actually play the game you have to have it in your Xbox drive)?

I got an Elite on the amazing Littlewoods Direct offer (about £135, incredible deal) but I really am finding it a PITA to have to juggle my backed up games for space on the limited HDD.

How does anyone manage with a 20gb unit?

Sorry, bottom line is posted before, same retailer, same price - duplicate post, so why don't the mods remove it?
#27
voted hot because it is the cheapest of it's type around. But I will also say that it is a horrendous rip off also because of microsoft's insistence on proprietary hardware. I managed to upgrade my ps3 with a 320gb hard drive and turn the 60gb hard drive that was previously in there into an extenal one for £60 (£50 on the hdd and £10 on an enclosure for the existing hdd)

still best price for this if you need it.

But I may be just annoyed at the moment having found out that m$ purposefully designed the console so that in order to connect it through hdmi and optical at the same time you need to spend over £20 on a special cable for it, so my comments might be a bit weighted against them in this circumstance.

Imagine what M$ will try and charge for this 500gb 2.5" drive drive £300+

Luxury item err no not really I paid £349 for my first 3 xbox 360's and around £229.99 for the elites I have.

a decent CPU and gfx card a bit of memory a motherboard a psu bit of plastic can be had for £100 and a 120 gig hard drive for about £18 or a 2.5 for around £35.

M$ should be fined for monopoly on the hard drive front for the 360. It's a disgrace and 120gig is so like saying our console is 4 years behind the times.

£69.99 delivered is probably the best price around at the minute and for that it's a hot deal but comeon we all know for sure we are being fleeced.

Can't understand why people get so hyper-sensitive about voting hot or cold - is it an insecurity complex or something?

For what it's worth, I think that £70 is still a bit steep for a hard drive. They get away with it 'cos it's a proprietary design and if you want one, you'll have to pay the price. That's why Mr. Gates is so rich after all.

As for it being hot or cold, just being the cheapest price for this is only part of the equation. If this was being sold for a price that makes the hard drive cheaper than any USB equivalent then it would be a very hot deal indeed but at just 30% discount to an inflated RRP of £100, it just doesn't do it for me:p

Why would you imagine that?

The official 120gb is down to £70 now.
I can easily see a new 500gb unit giving rise to further alignment - just as the 60gb & 120gb units did for the 20gb HDD.

Perhaps the 60gb unit will vanish (the smaller odd sizes always seem to disappear as HDD manufacture moves on to bigger sizes anyways)?

Is a £125 - £150 500gb drive really beyond the bounds of possibility?

There have been enough rumours about a bigger HDD and more than a few of us would like the option to buy a much bigger unit.

(and if you think MS charge too much for these well, ok, who doesn't?
That's kind of besides the point though.
Surely if it's too much for you then you don't bother.
If it's a deal you like then rock on.
No-one's making anyone do anything.)

This may be a little off topic, but Gamestation give only £80 cash for an Xbox360 Elite with a 120GB HD!!? How much are these drives actually worth second hand? Gamestations trade in price would indicate, not-a-lot.

I haven't got any current gen consoles by the way, I just enquired at Gamestation on behalf of a friend the other day.

They are "worth" what anyone is willing to pay. GameStations trade in price indicates they run a business and some people are quite daft. Used ones seem to fetch £50-60 at most places.

You cant always take GS and CEX trade ins as face value for 2nd hand as they then have to sell on at second hand prices as such their "buy in" price has to include a profit margin. Easiest way to check REAL 2nd hand value is ebay, these things, despite being well overpriced, sell well as people still want them (I was lucky enough to get one of the £30 120gb from HMV and didnt mind paying that, although I do feel that MS have been greedy and should have made the case compatible with any drive )

so the official is down to £70 is this everywhere ? surprised this forum ain't covered in that deal. So how much are the 60 gig versions down to because of this price drop on 120 gb ?

so 120gb x 4 is 480gb and 4x£70 is £280 but a 500 gb Sata 2.5 drive is only £74 even thats steep compared to a 3.5 sata II 1tb for £69.99 and a 500gb 3.5 for £43

I think if m$ were going to sell a higher drive than 120 it would have been out by now (any idea why they released a 60 gig drive into the market place cos we all know that 60 is 60 less than 120 and 120 is really too small in todays market and that a 60gb drive released by m$ last year for 360 is way behind in tech and should never have appeared as a viable choice when a 120 gb version is available the 60gb version really should not have appeared never mind vanish ). M$ know how to make money and yes no one has to buy them but we do. There is little choice in the 360 upgrade marketplace.
