Which one ?

Any drive with a Usb 2.0 connection.

You can get 1tb (1000gb) for £50 but you can only use a maximum of 250gb (I think).

Ahh I tried a laptop HHD, that didn't work. Halo reach requires a HHD to use the theatre mode, didn't seem to work from my USB stick.

on the new 4gb slim console... the maximum external space you can use is 16gb.

On the 4gb Slim, there are lots of problems with halo reach such as the 4 player LIVE problem because there is only 4gb of space.

You can use this in a slim. Just remove the outer casing and plug the hard drive into the console itself.

If using an external hard drive you are limited to 16GB of space (doesn't matter what size HDD you have). You can plug in a 1TB drive via USB no problem but you can't use it for saves, DLC or anything like that.

actually you can install a standard 250GB hdd, it requires a little work on the installers part, and a bit of googling will help you out, but it basically means that you have to get yourself a western digital hard drive (specific model's), these will need to be formatted using a specific program freely avaliable online. Once done this can be installed inside of the xbox slim 4GB. I posted a guide on the morrisons xbox kinect thread... hope that helps!

Buy one of these if you want to use this in a slim 360 ;)

not quite .. you need a bevt drive you then need to flash hitachi firmware onto it and then uses the $$ (security sector from another 250gb official xbox 250gb HDD)

If you get this drive and want it to work on a slim then you head over to dealextreme and order some torx screwdrivers and this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.48653

You swap the casing and bam, although you could just skip the casing and stuff the drive in on its own, fiddly but works.

By the time u buy this n add the hassle n cost of a casing for the slim, better off getting the original 250gb slim hard drive for a little bit more,

This is a good deal for anyone looking to add it to the old xbox

Thats what I did. Luckily I have long fingers, short stumpy fingered people will struggle!

Yeah, thank god once its in you likely don't have to remove it again or if you do it'll be to put it in one of those cases :).

got to luv M$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ hiking prices up as usual, before old $lim came out chunky 360's were going for £100-120 most places now you cant get a chunky so its only old $lim boys available at yup £140-£150 yay M$ oh and now no no no you naughty people cant use your old chunky HDD no M$ commands you to go out and pay top $$$$$$$$$ for a new HDD too a rite pain tbh........

i wouldnt mind a spare one for bedroom but i cant use my old chunky HDD on it either...

i guess i need to copy all my HDD stuff to a new HDD $lim is that possible? i think i still got a HDD tranfer lead left over from when i bought my 120gig hdd will that work or do we now need a new lead and things cause it a $lim 360?
#24
To all the people putting in their own hdd's does that invalidate the warantee? Going on previous track records for xbox consoles I'd be a bit worried to do anything to the console that would give them an excuse not to fix it when it has the new versions equivalent of rrod
#25
This is bargain if you're not after a 360 slim. They take COD Black Ops for £37 too so that should only cost me £12.99 :)
#26
So let me get this right, you can NOT buy the 4gb slim and stick this in it?
#27
dumb ass here....... so this will be fine for an old fat arcade ive recently bought
#28
yeah it will do your old fat arcade

yes you can stick this in a 4gb slim, it doesn't fit snugly though, you need to break open the casing or if you go on youtube i think there are some vids on how to open it without breaking it, you then put it in the slim with the aid of a piece of foam, or you can buy the third party casing from deal extreme, this hard drive will work straight out of the packet unlike buying a normal hard drive an adapting it, also there is talk that using a non genuine hard drive can ban you off xbox live, hope this is of some help

The new 360 uses a totally different HDD, you should only buy for a Premium/Elite/Arcade.

supposedly only these drives can be used:

Hddhackr will only work with the following Western Digital Drives:
- WD Scorpio Series BEVS/BEAS
- WD Scorpio Blue Series BEVS/BEVT/BPVT
- WD Scorpio Black Series BEKT/BJKT
- WD VelociRaptor Series
- WD AV-25 Series BUDT

and yes it needs to be flashed, so someone competent with computers etc should be able to do this... but it can still be done, the drives are available as I've already checked on amazon.

Bought the last one from Wrexham today. This is for my "classic" 360 to upgrade my 60gb and my 60gb will be used to upgrade my 20gb.... Then 20gb sold on ebay.

Thanks OP
#36
To clarify things...you can put this in a slim without invalidating its warranty. You need to take the drive out of its case though.

I know some people are advocating buying a third party drive and flashing it (Only works on certain models and is a lot of work) but in light of the latest AP2.5 copy protection I personally wouldnt as I forsee dvd/hd checking to be a greater focus in future revisions.
#37
You can use this on the new 4GB S console. I got a very good deal on my 4GB S console and managed to pick up one of the 120gb HD's that blockbuster were selling off for £19.99. There are some torx screws that need to be unscrewed, you pull the hard drive out of the casing then plug it into the bottom of the S console (Assuming the console is vertical, although i keep mine led down in which case its to the right of the console) Its quite easy to slot in, just make sure you have no discs in the tray, or power connected. As for keeping the HD in place I used half a pringle tub lid, although I am going to buy a third party case for it, i just keep on forgetting.

Guys, Can someone who have taken this and used with 4GB console confirm if it works without any need of flashing?
