Any reason not to get the 4gb rather than the 250, other than the obvious? What does only having 4gb mean in real terms?

No smart alec replies thanks, just need some good honest help please.

Thanks

the 4gb doesnt really mean that much to be honest. if you have a spare usb stick, you can stick that in and increase the memory size. I have a 16gb one in and have downloaded updates for black ops etc with no bother at all
#11
The only real world difference, is in installing games. Obviously, you can't on a 4gig, unless you put a usb drive on it.

what about an external 2TB hard drive, would that work also or are there limitations?

This is possibly a daft question, but given that the last Console game I played was GTA San Andreas on the PS2.....

Is there still life in the 360 or is it about to get a hardware bump to the Xbox 720, or whatever?

Tons of life left, don't reckon on a new xbox before christmas 2013 at the earliest.

External drive are only recognised up to 16 gig... so if you plug a 2tb drive in, it will create a 16 gig partition on it for xbox use
you can plug in two drives at once though, potentially giving you 32 gig

Fabe 3 and Halo Reach £49.99 :D

Why is Xbox falling in price if it was PS3 thats having a hard time?
Not that it's bad though :3

I have a 500gb 2.5 hard drive formatted in fat 32 works fine;)

Probably trying to tempt disgruntled PS3 owners to make the jump after the PSN fiacso!

It does for video and generic storage, but I bet you can't install games onto that, eh? :)

Sooo tempted... Payday next tues!

Isn't the extra game £20?
#23
Surely you don't have to install games to be able to play them though?.....confused.com!

I can't see where you add an extra game for a tenner... am I being special or was this a very limited offer?

You don't have to install most games. Installing games means that they load quicker, and that the disc drive lasts longer/makes less noise.

Says £20 on the deal page but when you get through to the last page of checkout it's showing £129.99 total (for me at least). Soooo tempted.
#28
looks like they are changing it to £20 for the game, that page was saying £10 earlier... if it's still coming up as £129.99 at last stage of checkout I'd grab one quick if anyone want's one, this will probably expire soon :{

Lucky I had it on the checkout page from before, so managed to get Halo reach for £10. Helped make my mind up to buy!
#30
Brilliant thanks for sharing, will stick the game I bought online to put towards RDR or LA Noire.

If i only wanted this to use with sky player is their any issues? i.e. is the sky player install too large to fit in 4gb?
#32
Xbox console prices dropping just before the E3??? Is something afoot? :P
#33
Shaky9000 sky player is less than 100mb install

I can't get this price with Dirt 3, mine comes up with £139.99 and that's going to the last page before confirmation.

I'm kind of looking at Xbox too after the recent PS3 debacle, but I'm also a bit confused.

There's a lot more to HDD storage if you're using the console as a media centre or even saving many game saves. And it's certainly desirable to 'install' the game rather than play it from disc, if this happens (I can't say I've tried it on PS3 or was even aware of the option).

It seems like they are selling versions without a hard drive (like the arcade models that were so cheap in supermarkets a year or so back) but you have to buy a specific type of HDD as an aftermarket product, rather than just a standard 2.5" drive like a PS3? As mentioned, you can use a (presumably slower USB2) HDD up to 16GB but most consoles now come with >300GB HDD for a reason! There seem to be a lot of internet posts about bodging a aftermarket drive into a cheap Xbox!

Looks a good price, but I understand the confusion about the pricing between the HDD/non HDD versions.

I bought a 4gb version, then about 1 week later I had to buy the extra disk drive for it, as I couldn't install all the racing tracks for 1 game! I hadn't even used the 4gb of space for anything else other than the standard bits and bobs!

You may as well spend the extra and buy the one with the hard drive already included.

Hi guys can someone help me out. I have an old premium xbox that got fried in a lightning storm. The hard drive survived however. I noticed with these new xboxs they are saying they are a lot smaller! Does that mean that the old HD doesn't fit?
