Hi I keep seeing this deal for this 4gb machine and wondering surley 4gb would be used within minutes. Is this a ploy from Microsoft to intise you to buy additional storage.

If so cold from me but il hold judgement till someone explains
#2
You can use usb flash drives with this (upto 16gb), so shouldn't be any problem really for game saves - unless you want to have all your downloads etc on the one unit. For those that had an arcade machine and don't want to use xbox live, it should be more than enough. Obviously though if you like putting all the games on the hard drive, it's no use! :)
#3
im still really confused about the new 360. does it have a removable hard drive, and if it does are they compatible with the old 360 and vise verse???
#4
Cheers, just almost picked up in tesco for £130 but 6 games for another £30 is a steal!!!
#5
I'd rather go for the Tesco deal and buy a new release game instead of these old games.
#6
yeah there is now way these "old" games are worth £30 i mean come on £5 each is way over the top price wise.... oO

The 4GB is 'built in memory'

The 250GB has a removable HDD.

The hard drives are not compatible between the '360 S' and the 'Old 360'

But you wouldn't need to. The new model is whisper-quiet.
#9
you can also add the 250GB HDD later if you wanted to ;)

If I never had £17.50 in Tesco vouchers, I think I'd have bought this deal instead of one from Tesco for £112.50 as it's seems more suited to Xbox newcomers who have no games whatsoever.

You only get 3GB of usable memory - nice one Microsoft.

(Retarded hack job, but you get the point)
#12
that hack works perfectly well, MS can stick their overpriced HDD addons
#13
Can you put any 2.5" SATA HDD in or does it have to an Xbox HDD? If the former, I'm getting something like this...

has to be X-box one... so any 20GB 60GB or 120GB

Do you mean using any HDD via USB or inserting any HDD into the HDD slot?
#19
And presumably this kind of hack will mean the entire HDD is available to the console for MS stuff, not just 16GB?

It's not a hack - that would give the total n00b in the video wayyyyyy too much credit.

There is a nice little DOS program called HDDHackR that can flash the firmware of any Western Digital Bevs series HDD to work with the 360 as an *internal* drive.

It's not exactly easy, but not very difficult either.

Basically follow this guide here to use a standard hardrive instead of microsofts hugely overpriced version:

Flip! That's HOT!
#25
i just opened up my old drive. and put it straight into the new xbox. works perfect.
im glad it was so easy.
#26
this slim is so quiet. its like its not even on.
#27
That's a lot of gaming and hardware for your money.
#28
3 good games there. Here's a hint, they arent Halo or Gears.

Pretty cold deal.

A reviewer of a WD 250GB HDD @ Ebuyer also says it can be done: it's the 2nd review.

Only if you didn't update the dashboard after (I think) the one that came out just before xmas last year and even then it's still touch and go depending on the MFR date. Or have they found a new way that works even with the most recent update?
#32
oh no! i just bought the plain 4gb version on tuesday
they said i can't take it back unless it broken

grrrr!
#33
Just a word of warning the pic displayed by the Op is wrong. The Arcade is Matt Black and not Glossy like the 360 S 250Gig.
#34

#35

This console is perfect considering the restrictions MS have on what you can store on a big 360 hard drive if thats what you have - why did MS bother giving their customers a big hard drive when they wont let them use it for anything meaningful - for example the PS3 will allow you to put any of your OWN media on its hard drive - movies / music / photos etc
