Might be worth noting that online coop campaign mode won't work on Halo: Reach without a hard drive installed - this issue cannot be remedied by using a USB flash drive:

Nonetheless a good bundle deal - happy gaming,

Considering how noisy the new Slim is without installing to the hard drive, you'd have to be pretty crazy not to buy one without a hard drive. I am soooo glad I chose the 250gb one, it would have **** me off if I'd paid out £130-£140 for a 4gb model and have it no quieter than my old first-edition Xbox 360

Good deal, I'm definitely after one with a hard drive though.

MS said they are looking into a fix. Whether anything comes of it, that is another matter.

You can source the 250GB hard drive from non official places to avoid the high price but at your own risk. Seen them on ebay and websites.

Wow, really?
Sounds like something is wrong with your one.

The only noises that come from the Xbox S slim (4gb Arcade and 250gb version) is the DVD drive when its spinning and the little PSU fan.
The PSU fan is easily dealt with, I just moved mine until I stopped hearing it at all, it's not loud.
The DVD sounds like a modern PC DVD drive.
A quiet humming/whooshing sound.
On mine at least.

I've had 60gb Falcon, 120gb Elite Falcon & a 250gb Super Elite Jasper.
I now have a 250gb Xbox S.
I would never have bothered playing a game straight off of the DVD disc before but my Xbox S DVD disc drive is so quiet I'd not worry about it.

(but it gives the console a much easier life & loading times are usually much faster if you do save to the hard drive & run your games from there)

As for the Halo Reach co-op campaign not working on the Xbox S Arcade?
Well it might get patched (it's had some publicity) but in the meantime I'd suggest anyone bothered about missing that (small) part of the game get a hard drive.
You can go the DIY route & get a 250gb Western Digital drive (the exact same one Microsoft use) brand new for about £30.
A cheaper alternative might be any old Xbox hard drive.
Take it out of its caddy & it will fit & work.

Didn't know that the Slim generates a significant amount of noise when playing a game from a disc - As another member mentioned if you can source a standard 2.5 inch HDD then do the steps to install it having 4GB internal memory and the matt finish on the console may be worthwhile for some.

That's good to hear, as far as I've heard they have only acknowledged the issue regarding discs not being able to read.
http://kotaku.com/5640070/microsoft-responds-to-halo-reach-disc-read-errors

Better yet (to avoid the risk and depending on how tech savvy one is) you can buy a standard 2.5 inch SATA hard drive and format it on a computer to be read from the console - such an option as well as a guide in doing so has been posted on HUKD before and would (logically) be cheaper than paying more for the service.

Happy gaming,
