Fifa 11 is worth at least £20 if sold on, So a replacement xbox for £124 is pretty good. You can reuse your old harddrive too if you follow the many tutorials on the web. Hot

Excellent deal.

Annoying though. I bought one last weekend for £139.97 from ToysRus with Guitar hero van halen. I then sold the van halen stuff for £21 to Cex, and bought Fifa 11 for £30. Oh and I bought a HDMI cable too.

So I'd have been better off with this deal. Grrr!!

Hot, needed one ta, just bought

Are these new ones super quiet? I have an older model which works fine, but I like the idea of the quiet fans and new look. Can't bring myself to upgrade though.. but am tempted at this price.

I got one of these when Best Buy had 20% off and all I did was buy a compatible 250 HDD, formatted for use on the 360 and transferred my stuff to it.

Only cost about £35.

can't understand why it was not designed with blu-ray.

yes, best of both worlds mate! ;) you get to play all the exclusive titles for each console plus when there is a multi platform game you can either get the version which is best (like red dead on 360 or final fantasy on ps3 as examples) or whichever is cheaper!

You wont be saying that when you see how much better the online play and 3rd part titles are.

I was shocked about how bad Dead Rising 2 was on the ps3, loads of graphics glitches and clipping it was unplayable.

All you get for the ps3 3rd party wise is shoddy pc / 360 ports. Virtually everyone looks and plays better on the 360.

yeh i know i use to have a 360 but sold it a few years back for a ps3 now i wish i kept it.

Is it possible to keep my 120gb HDD from my current 360 and just plonk it into a new-style 360?

As for it not having a Bluray drive, probably something to do with Sony being one of the main creators of Bluray. Not to mention it would push the price up (I suspect they wouldn't be getting much of a discount on the parts!) and would be a bit overkill other than to watch movies.

I have both and there are pros & cons to both. Personally, I'd say that the PS3's exclusives are slightly better than xbox 360 exclusives, but that's down to personal taste. The PS3 is easily the better media player too. The 360 as you say, generally has better 3rd party versions of games and better online support. Horses for courses. If you can afford both, have both.

You can't use an old 360 hard drive in the new model, although there are ways of modifying them apparently. You can use normal USB external hard drives or flash drives with a new 360, but it only recognises 16gb of storage per devise. Again, there are apparently ways around this.

If you you tube it there are loads of tutorials, looks pretty easy, im just trying to decide weather to strip my old 20gb or to buy another bigger one, i can find the 250gb expansion packs but they are all around £60, could do with a 120, dont really want to spend more than £40 to be honest

Completely agee with this. Your much better picking up 3rd party titles on the 360. Games like Red Dead and Assasins Creed 2 were proven to be much better on the 360. I have a PS3 gathering dust in my AV unity which I use every now and then for exclusives but at the mo am struggling to think of any on the horizon that I want.

When it comes to 3rd party titles in all but a few cases at least in the the last couple of years they look and play identically on both PS3 and 360. I have noticed on many occasions though the sound on PS3 versions being a lot better - COD and Deep Space being notable examples.

Haven't played Dead Rising 2 so can't comment but the difference between Live and PSN is negligable in my opinion and let's remember PSN is free.

I have both consoles and recommend serious gamers to own both also but if I could have only one console it would be the PS3 easilly.

Bear in mind that these so called super quiet slims arent quiet at all. False marketing at its most extreme by Micro$oft. Barely any difference in noise level whatsoever. Saying that, at least the 4gb model doesnt have the ugly shiny tacky plastic.
#25
I would avoid buying the 4GB model until replacement HDDs for it are sold separately. The 4GB is inbuilt and games that require a HDD don't seem to work with it.
Go with the 250GB model, or if you cant afford it one of the outgoing elites (or save even more money by buying an arcade then getting the HDD used separately).

Are you installing your games to a hard drive? True, the DVD drive is still pretty noisy.

The DVD drive on my 250GB S is a lot quieter than my old first gen Elite, "Barely any difference in noise level whatsoever" I disagree there's a huge difference. And its even quieter when you install games to the HDD.

Alot of people have said there's really not much difference in sound. The new xbox is actually much quieter than the old one but it also has fans in it's power brick which make it just as loud.

can't understand why it was not designed with blu-ray.

Blu-ray isn't needed for games. Including it in the console would just push the console price up.

Does anyone know, can this be haxxed to play backups?
Thanks!

Woohoo! Just bought one. Great deal as I'm not really into FIFA so Ill sell that on. Thanks OP!
#34
Does this come with any inbuilt(pre-loaded) games? I am planning to get this for my little one who is four.

I plan to sell the Fifa game to bring the price down.

Yep, I always install the games to the HDD.

The lower noise coming from the xbox itself is made up for by the loud fan in the power supply.

Hi,
I am new to Xbox's my kids have a wii but my eldest now wants an xbox. A neighbour has offered us an xbox (Unwanted prize, never really used) for £50, no hard drive. Can anyone explain briefly if I actually need a Hard drive? THis is probably about a year old but not sure which model. Would I be better getting a brand new one, like in this deal? or one with a 350 gb? Help please!!
