Great idea

Void the warranty, get banned from live, and put people out of a job by stealing their work. Killing the industry in the process.

With these arcade ones, can you buy a M$ hdd and add it on? (Basically has it got the port on it to allow you to do that)
Cheers

I would advise anyone to think carefully about ordering an Xbox from anywhere other than a company based in the UK. Due to Play being Jersey based, they are not covered in the "Sale of Goods Act" should your console fail outside of the 28 day warranty that they (Play.com) offer, or the 12 month statuary warranty period that Microsoft offer.

The three year (extended) warranty which some of you may be aware of, only covers console failiures indicated by three red lights. And please do trust me on this, a lot of Xbox faliures are not indicated by three red lights.

If anyone wants a little more detail, I can bore you if you like.

I should just mention before you think I'm a fanboy putting the boot in, I'm a 360 owner, have been for 23 months, bought my console from Play.com, and is currently sitting here waiting for UPS to collect my console for the third time. My second breakdown costing me £59.91.

I'm posting due to experience rather than opinion.

You just joined and this is your first post ?, Play are no problem the only thing some people seem have trouble with returning are Mobile phones and as a lot of people tamper with the firmware etc Play may have an argument on that to.

As this is the newer 360 Falcon/Jasper there should be no problem at all, as you say you have had 360s for Two years so they will probably be the old unreliable now obsolete Zephyr or earlier model consoles.

There are discussions if you want to advise people about things like not buying from Play etc in the misc section this is for posting if the deal is a good price.

This is a good hot deal...

I fail to see the relevance of it being my first post or not. Does this mean that because I am now making a second post, it is now marginally more important than my previous, but less important then my next?

I did not "advise" people to not buy any product from Play.com. I am "suggesting" that people should weigh up their options from buying this "particular product" from ANY company outside of the UK, as I personally believe that there is a certain amount of risk involved due to my own experiences.

Any one who owns a "repaired" Xbox will tell you it's NOT the same machine they sent, but the same plastic housing. A "repair" in most cases results in a change of GPU, and/or DVD Drive, and/or motherboard. I originally purchased my 360 from Play.com in Jan '07, sent it to Microsoft in Sept '07, sent it again in July '08 which cost me £59.91 due to that being the only legal option that I had available, (as I'm trying to explain) and I am currently waiting for UPS to come and pick it up again as it failed on me Monday night for the third time.

There is a "chance", but no guarantee that this particular hardware revision will be either the Falcon or the very recently released Jasper, but I'm afraid to inform you that Falcons are still failing.

The Jasper hardware revision in various consumer tests has been proven to be not just quieter than the Falcon and previous models, but runs at a considerably cooler temperature. And due to these factual findings, the "theory" is that it will help the Xbox 360's problems with reliability. There is no "hard proof" that the reliability problems have been solved.

Hypothetical, but this is what I was trying to stress without boring everybody. If you buy an Xbox from outside the UK and it fails on you, not indicated by The Red Ring of Death on the 366th day of ownership, you will pay for it's repair which currently stands at around £60.00. That brings the "potential" value, but not "definite" value of this deal to just under £200.

If you purchase this item inside the UK, and it fails on the 366th day of ownership, you have a legal entitlement under the "Sale of Goods Act" to return the item back to the seller, who in turn has a legal obligation to deal with the matter in hand by either supplying the consumer with an upgrade/replacement/part or full refund. Keeping the "potential" value of this deal the same as the sticker price when you originally purchased it.

To summarise. Some people will not be put off by the "horror stories" they hear, look at this deal and go for it, and good luck to them. In fairness it's a pretty good price. In retrospect, that type of person wouldn't bother reading this anyway.

My point is to those who are a little undecided, and worry about paying for an item which has such a well reported failure rate, so for peace of mind they decide it's a far better "deal" to purchase this same item from elsewhere inside the UK for £20.00 more so they are covered by UK consumer legislation.

And isn't discussing the best deals for consumers what this site is all about?

Sorry for those who got bored reading this.

You are not discussing a deal you are taking a deal off topic with your" personal opinion".

So as I said before you need to go and join or start a discussion in the misc section, this has nothing to do with the ops deal..

(I have cut down your post in the quote to save space)

If you need to verify what I say here just ask a mod..

No, It comes with the High Definition Component AV Cable, if you want HDMI cable just buy a standard One about £4....
