You'll never see a PS3 at this price whilst it is in production.

I think its the bluray keepin it below the £200 mark. Most Id pay for a new PS3 is £180

Dont you mean above the £200 mark?
If they stripped out the Blu-Ray drive and stuck in, say, a HD DVD drive would you spend £180 on a new one?

Although true, this is a bit of a silly statement. As this version of the 360 has no hard drive. I own a PS3 and a Wii and was thinking of buying a 360 but read on IGN, even by an 360 fan, what a poorly designed system they are as theyre always breaking down and theyre noisey. I still may buy one, but will buy it knowing full well it aint gonna last too long. Im wondering if the elite systems are just as unrelyable or if they were designed with better quality components? Just so anyone reading this knows I'm not an effing fanboy I'm purely a gamer, but yes I do play the majority of games on a PS3 console. But would buy a 360 for exclusive titles.

The 360`s have had revisions since the old ones like the newer falcon cpus etc. Anyway am not surprised some died from heating issues after seeing where they were kept crammed in a space blocking or preventing decent air flow from the vents.

Somehow I dont think you can blame poor ventilation. So how much longer are the updated versions supposed to last, percentage wise? twice as long, or is that a silly question? Or has the problem been fixed?

What you have said there is pretty much wrong regarding reliability if you are comparing the latest 360s, I have 2 and they are fine, one is the old pre HDMI more unreliable noisy model the other the new reliable quite Jasper type.
When I run the Jasper model side by side with my PS3 the load noise of the PS3 reading from the blu ray drive is on equal terms of the fan of the 360 and as the PS3 has a terrible downside being that there is no option to install the complete game to harddrive the noise is there constantly as it is reading from the blu ray drive.

And you quoted a website for your info, if that website is not a repair center stats and the so called "fan of the 360" is not a console repair engineer then forget it......

Would say its such a terrible downside regarding installation. Blu Ray is too big to do that. So yours has a harddrive? I dont think you need to be a repair engineer to determine whether a piece of electrical equipment is unrelyable. I think this bloke went through quite a few 360s.

I thought you didn't like installs? I don't know what your setup is, but my PS3 is virtually silent, both my 40GB (expanded to 320GB) fat and 120GB slim.

it's £119 for me.... :|

Same, price must've been put up!

I find the PS3 v 360 debate a lot easier since Friday.

No Mass Effect 2 no comment :-D

Am I correct - I have been reading the benefits of installing to hard drivre..on a deal for the arcade 360 which doesnt come with a hard drive??

£100 or there abouts is a great deal for a great console - although I would advise factoring the cost of a hard drive and xbox live (do you get one months free still) to really benefit from the system.

I've been considering getting n Xbox360 since a frimware update killed my PS3. Sony have been trying to charge people £150 to "look at" a console they damaged, so I don't buy Sony anymore. The reason I bought a PS3 was mainly due to the high failure rate, and it's this that is still putting me off, that and the online fees.

I love gaming but I guess the simplicity of console gaming is worthless this gen, as manufacturers can't even build a machine. Back to my custom build I guess, something I originally thought I wasted money on due to lack of use, is suddendly very useful.

Use Ebay to get your PS3 console swapped for about £30.
