Saw this tonight and yes I know the new one is coming out shortly but not everyone can afford the £200 price tag - so this is a very good option if you are wanting a brand new 360 but don't have that much cash to spare.

Bargain price for a great bit of kit, instore only!

Not bad but MS are releasing a Arcade version of the new slim model so it might be worth waiting to see how much it is.

As far as I am aware MS are only releasing one SKU of the new Xbox 360 whilst reducing the price of the Elite and Arcade SKUs currently in the market. This information is based on the interview with Aaron Greenberg with Geoff Keighley straight after Microsoft's E3 Press Conference.

Do you have a link/reference to MS releasing an Arcade version of the new Xbox 360?

Hot deal considering if you end up with a Jasper chipset (and thus reduce the probability of getting RROD), if you do have a little extra to spend it's worth trying to find an Elite from Currys/PC World which another member pointing out that they are clearing out for £129.97.

Cheers for the link, that's great news seeing as one can make an additional saving by having all their data stored in a flash usb rather than buying the model with the 250gb hdd.

Developers have been seriously annoyed for years that 360 games have to be able to run with no hard drive. It's why multoplatform games like Call of Duty have an 'install' of between 1 and 60 meg even on the PS3, it's also why GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption look below average.
That's why there's no new Arcade, they've been trying to phase out the mistake

Lazy developers, you are allow to use the disk now, it doesnt make much difference to how it looks
#7
I'm tempted by this since my x-clamped fixed launch 360 finally gave up. Since I have the HDD from that can I just plug in it and basically have my premium back sans chrome disk tray?
#8
They wont phase out the arcade as its the only way to go mass market and they have confirmed a new one is in the works !
#9
It doesn't say that it doesn't have any storage though.
#10
Was there any reductions on the elites, I don't want to pay 200 for the new one really
#11
Is this store specific or can you get it any any Tesco?
#12
question is. can the new drive be flashed?
#13
i want an Xbox but I am going on holiday for 6 weeks next week so won't be playing it till I get back - is better to just get this before I go - or is it worth to wait till August and hope the price has dropped even further? Whats the likelihood?
#14
Hmmmm....am tempted at this price....:?

With the Xbox you need either a hard drive or USB pen drive as it makes one right racket with games if not.

I would say wait for the Slim Arcade DaRockwilder1 posted the link to earlier (amazing help by the way did not know this was coming in Arcade form).

I'd definitely advise waiting - I reckon you'll be able to get it at this price in lots of places by then, and better deals should be popping up.

Heat & rep added to this deal, though - at present it's a great deal!

so has anyone actually found one at this price or has it got this much heat without people finding one as is usually the case on here

Yup, I think so. Spray paint will fix that too.

No xbox360's on sale at my local tesco's in Sheffield:roll:
#21
Im sure most know but MS is releasing a new design that will also be in the arcade SKU for £129.99 also just hasn't been publicised but has been confirmed.
#22
Bearing in mind that the flash exploit will probably be blocked on the new versions...im sure you could make a few quid by buying a few and selling them to the flashers a few months down the line lol
#23
Cold.... these things are rubbish without a hard drive.. and that'll set you back a fair bit.
plus it's old tech now...
#24
or just use a 16gb pen drive which costs stuff all.

good price, tho i would be tempted to see what the new sku brings.

You can actually remove your silver tray (just open the drive and push up) and fit it to the arcade one...

I am on my third box and did it twice, but now I like the "all white" design better.

looks like selected stores only, just phoned my local tesco (irvine) and its coming in at £129.

Very odd statement to make. Considering as Red Dead was largely slated on the PS3 in comparison to the 360 version of the game for it's lack of detail and lower resolution in the environments and that is the platform with the hard disk as a cert AND bigger optical media?
Have a search on Youtube or Google for comparisons, it's pretty clear that the PS3 versions of all screens and videos I have looked at has no benefit (in fact the exact opposite) for all it's bluray-ness and capacious hard disks as standard.

Ooh, nice - will try that when I get home tonight.
My "chrome" tray doesn't look good since it got shipped to me covered in sellotape and I've been wary of trying to clean it up, but if I can remove it I'm sorted

Typical Tesco. I was about to ask this too.

I'm sure the prices will soon drop though everywhere

Thanks for this, I never thought of doing this when I replaced my premium with an arcade...but I do like the "all white and HDD" look - a little different :)

Great price and 20gb hard drives on amazon are about £30 probably not the cheapest but will make it £120 for the console and hard drive
#33
which tescos have you seen the deal at?

I have tried 3 different tescos and phoned customer service to enquire and none of them have heard of this deal...................
#37
Yeah see if you buy a hard drive from cex and get the 360 works out to about £110 Which is very good
