One of the best games I have ever played. Hot, its an arcade for £100. Think I would still wait for a bundle with the 60gb drive as you also get the headset and hd cable, well worth another £30.

I am not totally convinced, what do you get if you have no INTERNET that would make me buy the one with a hard drive? The hard drive is a storage device for storing things, if i wanted movies i would stream them via an ethernet cable? is this not possible?

I dont see any real advantage of the premium unless you dont know a few work arounds, and a hd cable is a couple of quid.

Purses are tight at the mo and there are better deals to be had in the run up to xmas, ill hang out for a 2 game deal on the arcade as long as possible in hope of a jester chipset

You can't put movies on there unless you rent/buy them off of the Xbox Live service. The headset is a tenner and the hard drive will benefit from installing games on it for less noise and quicker loading times, as well as downloading Xbox Live Arcade games, demos, map packs and all that for those that do go on Live.

Otherwise, don't bother then if you've already convinced yourself! :P

Yup think the bundle everyone is waiting for is the "Gears 2" one, and a 2 game bundle nearer to xmas @ £129.00 will be the icing on the cake....

I'm thinking of getting a 360. This bit about installing games on the hard drive, its possible?!? How'd u do that. Might have to get the hard drive version if this possible.

Anyone worked out best 360 hard drive deal?

You can do this after the november dash update.
it will allow you to install games to your HDD for faster loading times and also saves life on your CD drive

if you dont have the internet its not worth getting a HDD.
just use the memory card for your game saves

Xbox live is a must for the xbox for multiplayer games alone, the harddrive is useful/necessary for additional game content (new maps, bonus levels etc) and demo's for new games, couldnt live without mine. And the new chipset is Jasper, as far as I'm aware there are still no confirmed sightings of the Jasper model in stores.

looks like Tanchi & Crocodilemick covered everything :)

You also get a hd cable and headset with the 60gb version. If you are not going to play online or connect to a hd screen its a great deal though. Remember even if you dont play games online you can still download game demos and such from live and it will be very useful to load games onto the hd when the update is release. Much quicker load times and no activity from the dvd drive so it should be near enough silent running.

Never the less thats what the arcade is there for to give people choice. If you dont need the extra kit, its the best next gen console for £100, cant argue with that. With the deals that have been doing the rounds though if you are smart you could have a 60gb console for the same sort of money. If dont want the hard drive sell it and the same goes for the hd cable and headset. You would get at least £40 for that lot selling seperatly on ebay.

Example from redcent asda deal.

60gb console, Fable 2 and PES 2009 for £167. Approx ebay values after fees and postage :

Pes 2009 - £25
Fable 2 £30
60gb hd - £35 at least
Headset and hd cable - £10

That would make the basic console £67 although you would then need a memory card. Its down to if you can be bothered but the 60gb version has been working out a bit cheaper. This is still a very good deal though.

You think they will bring out a 2 game arcade package for that price?
#13
Nice deal thanks op. Ordered one for my son. Voted hot.
#14
Order and collect from a store near you
Why can't you just go in and buy it off the shelves
#15
You wont get 2 new releases and an arcade for £130. That would make the arcade £70 or less, never going to happen. The arcades price point is £100 its not going any lower than that for a good while certainly not pre christmas.

There have already been arcade bundles with 2 games for this sort of price (Halo3 and another title) What we dont know is how much stock they have, probably be fine but there are alot of deals and top titles comming out in the Chrimbo run up and they seem to be selling well.

just brought the arcade console with fallout 3 and fable 2 for £149.99 from game online, seemed like a good deal to me, my partner wanted those 2 games and i was buying an arcade console for step son anyway, so i just thought i would let people know as i hadnt seen it anywhere on here and thought it was a bargain, someone has probably mentioned it on here already but couldnt find it

thought i would add the link for anyone thats interested http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/HardwareBundle/~r338181/Xbox-360-Arcade-Pack-with-Fable-2-and-Fallout-3/

Great deal grollyzbird very good indeed you should post a new deal as its really worth its own thread. I am amazed they are offering that to be honest, I just posted the other day I didnt think they would offer a couple of top new releases for that sort of money pre Christmas...

Went into town to look at the Game deals - my son wanted an arcade with Fable 2 and Fallout 3.
£149 for arcade or £189 for premium 60gb pack - both with the games he wanted.
Then tried out Gamestation and got hold of a Premium 60gb with both games for £184.99.
Thought this was a good deal. Especially as it came with exactly what he was after.
To get this price one game had to be fable 2 and the other was from a choice of two (I think).
For a bigger choice of games the price went up to about £200.
Nice chap in the shop also threw in a 007 front plate for free.

So essentially the arcade console is down to £100 - amazing value.

To think a sega mega-drive would of cost you £150 with one game in the early 90's!

Can anyone who has purchased one from Game confirm whether the console has a BenQ or LiteON drive?

I bought one from Zavvi last week & it came with a LiteON drive, hence it went straight back. Had to argue a little to get a refund but they gave in at the end. I don't want to end up with another LiteON unit.

The Zavvi console was from batch 0834 by team FD0U manufactured on 19th August 08.
The online database showed someone had purchased one from the same LOT & team, manufactured on the 18th Aug with a BenQ drive - hence I thought I was OK !!

Anyone?

Thanks
