Xbox 360 Blockbuster Tip!

Hi, This is a tip i used today to get my self Guitar Hero 2 for £48.

Simply, go to a gamestation store, and within the store they will have the deal "2 for £40" on preowned games. The choice is vast, they have many good games, but the best ones are:

Gears Of War * Crackdown * Lost Planet

This is because if you buy any of the above two, i.e. Gears of war and Lost Planet, you can take them to Blockbuster, and receive a trade in value of £26 each! So that works out at £52 for both!

So then with that £52 store credit you can purchase another xbox 360 game or something else.

What i did was purchase Gears of war and Crackdown today from gamestation, took them to Blockbuster received a trade in value of £52, put an extra £8 through and Voila! I bought myself Guitar Hero 2 for £48! Surely that is the cheapest anywhere.

Also using this way, you could receive any new xbox 360 game for £30, because of you take one of the games from gamestation to blockbuster such as Gears of war, trade it in at Blockbuster, and pay an extra £9.99 for any new game!

I hope it helps someone. Thanks a lot.

Provided the top games are available, then it's a good tip. Thanks for posting.

For me the answer is no, but I can appreciate that other people may find it appealing, so voted hot! :)

Most of these top games are overpriced in my opinion anyway, only to drop in price in a few months time. So this kind of bargain price reduction gets a huge thumbs up from me.

Hot & Rep added.

Im just voicing an opinion:whistling:

It just seems a hassle thats all...having to do all that to-ing and fro-ing from these shops trading games and hoping they have certain ones.

And its not just the fact of saving £12....its all the hassle that goes with it...(parking up in my local town alone is £5.50!!).....I agree there are deals that save £5 , but saving £5 at the click of a mouse is a bit different to having to trapes round shops trading games in to save a few quid more.

The deal was worth a mention i guess..cos in theory its ok.. but its a bit far fetched in practise!!:)

Im just starting my jog Mr Matt

I live in Sheffield City Centre and its a good 1 hour walk to my nearest blockbuster. And id go there first to check what price I can get for Gears etc first before I bought it from gamestation as knowing my luck id buy gears and crackdown and only get £10 a piece and find I wasted my money. :)

I have no car and fine with walking, but it is alot of hasle for me I think to try and risk it going all pear shaped.

Vote hot as it is a saving but only benefits those that pass a blockbuster often

Am i the only one here where my Gamestation is inside Blockbusters? (Cheltenham)
#10
Seems a good idea to me....get a bunch of games @ £40 for 2....then trade them in for £52 for the pair...thus making £12 for nothing. Do this a few times, and you can get yourself a free game, surely?
#11
Good for Guitar Hero but you can get games for less than £30 by trading in other games such as Fight Night 3.
#12
I posted something like this recently

if you have choices in your high st you can get 2 copies of NBA 2K7 on PS3 for £30 (£19.99 each and further £10 off any 2 PS3 games)

they trade in for £52 aswell, hence making guitar hero about £38

lol yeah I thought of that too, as I'm in Chelt too. A short walk for us ;-) lol. Does sound like a good deal though if you can be bothered with the hassel as mentioned but I am sure at some point this could turn into a great deal, depending what you want to buy at the time etc.

Any Gamestations that were in a Blockbuster stores will have been removed wouldnt they?...Blockbuster has now sold Gamestation to Game so I am pretty sure those concession stores would have been either removed or sold on as part of the deal

Walking to one shop to the next, is hardly hard, if its in the same high street. Just shows why we have so many fatties, when people cant be arsed to do things like this, and just want to sit at home on their computer all day long, because they have become idol.

Far fethced walking between 2 shops, and only good if you can do it sitting in your nice chair at home waiting for delivery. What a muppet

Its true Gamestation were bought out by Game (For £75 million) from Blockbuster, but there's a different fate for the concession stores that are inside Blockbusters. Those Gamestation stores weren't part of the deal and are still owned by Blockbuster. They'll be going through a rebranding soon and staying inside Blockbuster.

The deal is Hot if you're a game fanatic like yourself and want to save yourself a few quid, so voted so.

Exactly. As long as they do not contain profanity etc, expressing opinions is encouraged!!

That is a bit of an unwarranted statement.. do you know the exact distance between blockbuster & gamestation for everyone person in the country?
Most going to be in the 1-3 mile bracket but some going to be far further.
If either is out of stock on the game you want then you'v wasted either alot of time walking or a significant amount of petrol/parking costs driving.
It's not illogical to prefer a fiver guarunteed instantly reliable saving to a potential £12 (assuming there is stock in gamestation AND Blockbuster don't cut trade in due to excess volumes of these games).

£48 potential (plus petrol costs and parking + time).
Versus £57 at PPD
http://www.powerplaydirect.com/asp/itemdetails.asp?prodID=1400608&refID=webgains&siteid=1065
Minus applicable codes dependant on your use already minus quidco at 4% making it around £53.

Differance £5 - petrol - parking (a conserative estimate of a quid).. £4 worth it for the hassle & the gamble? I know which method I prefer.

Get NBA 2K7 from Play.com for £17.99 (or 2 copies) and save an extra 4 quid. Yes its back in stock! :)
#21
Also - Im using these deals to top up my balance at Blockbuster so when the new 360 comes out I can get it from there cheaply (saving £9 every time I trade in a game like this - trade 10 in save 90 quid!) :)

Nope, mine is aswell, dont know how I could buy the 2 games, walk over to a different counter and trade them in!
Could do it all day and get a nice amount of credit!!
#23
My blockbusters and gamestations are a stones throw away from eachother :-)
#24
same here lol. Hadnt thought of buying from gamestation, walking 10m and then trading it in at another counter! I wonder if they will price match one another!! :)

.

Have to agree with Sean - my nearest gamestation is only 22 miles from my nearest Blockbuster...
#26
My blockbuster is over the road from my gamestation :)
#27
Plus it helps that my best mate works there.....so using this scam and his discount I got Guitar Hero for £35!!!! Plus a second hand DS lite for a total spending of £44!!!! Man thats awesome :-)

(Dons sensible, peacekeeping hat)

Okay, regarding the (rather silly) posts going on about locale of Gamestation over BB. How about, those of you whose Gamestation is more than 2 miles away from your BB, ignore the thread as its not beneficial to you, and those who have stores relatively close to one another (like moi) say 'thank you' to the OP, for finding a ruddy good loophole in the system!

Even if you go about it another way as some people have mentioned, getting games from elsewhere to trade, its still worth knowing about!

I want to know, do they give you cash in hand, or is it BB credit? Do you have to be a member (I ask as I wonder if it goes on your record as this could be done over and over again!)

Makes you wonder what BB are gonna do with 12000 copies of fight night 3 eh!!!!
#29
It's credit Chrispyphillips (cash = approx half value). It would go on account if you have one. Stores only buy a certain number of any one title - as otherwise they have too much stock, flood the market, have to cut their price, and thus lose money. Best option is to get your sale quote on paper before going to gamestation (if you have a spare copy to show to get a receipt or get a helpful staff member) as it would be nonsensical to buy 10 copies of each game thinking your making £80 in credit to find you lose a huge load/ have them refuse to buy it outright due to having it 100 times over already.

thanks for the heat guys. :)

Much appreciated, my blockbuster close to gamestation and it was a good way for me to get Guitar hero 2, which is AMAZING!! lol:-D
#31
if you cant be bothered going to gamestation they why not just buy the games online then your only making the one trip
#32
I have GOW and Crackdown, both sealed as I got them with my 360 but am not interested in either of them. The GOW is a bundle copy and says not for resale blah blah on the cover, do you think Blockbuster would still accept this?

They aren't supposed to but talk to the most idiotic looking one and try anyway.

I've just noticed you can get Forza Motorsport 2 at blockbuster for £9.99 and you can buy a new copy of fight night 3 at play.com for £17.99. That means you could get forza2 for £27.98!

Bit of a long winded way of doing it, but would have saved me £13 :(

This has appeared in 3 or 4 different threads already. I am going in Blockbuster today to get DIRT on the same offer hopefully.
#36
heh heh, I'm tempted to go to gamestation and buy all their copies of gears of war and all their crackdowns then take them to blockbuster. :-D

edit: ...then I can buy an xbox 360.

Phew glad I got mine on Saturday then, had to hunt around for a Blockbuster with guitar hero in stock but finally got there.

Yep, the "get a game for £9.99 when you trade another" has finished, BUT it will restart soon! We're just reviewing the titles that will be included in the new offer because they haven't changed since it started. I'll let you know soon as the offer is finalised.

Which offer? The gamestation one or the blockbusters one?
