Aren't these (in)famous for causing over-heating of the console?

Anyway you may add to the description that for the same price there is also the black version http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9240153.htm

I think we're going to see these types of packs go really cheap across the board with the news of the slim xbox 360.
#6
Bought the black one yesterday...great price at £9.99 but doubt I will the console holder.
#7
Do these contain the cable to charge the 'play and charge' battery whilst playing, or is it just a battery pack?
#8
heat added good find :)

Nah, as far as I know thats those clip on cooling units, they supposedly disrupt the airflow in the case and have the opposite effect, effectively heating the xbox. HOWEVER, I have heard stories that your 360 will last longer if kept horizontal, not a heat issue though i don't think but I's still not use the holder in this pack, just in case!!

Yeah, if horizontal, you have less chance of knocking it over, causing it to crash on a floor and wreck the game that's currently in there (as well as the console). Also sometimes putting in discs in a pull out tray while vertical can scratch games to hell if it goes wrong.

Wouldnt suggest standing it up like that anyway, if you want your game discs to last more than 10 seconds on reading, should see the state of the scratch ive had off mine a couple of times

I do keep it orizontal, for these reasons:
1) it virbate less, having its wider surface resting on the table
2) most of the ventilation grids are on the sides (and not the bottom)
3) I never trusted a disc player placed vertically for some reason

:? what mine stands vertical and i have no problems, the other day i tripped over the wired connection, xbox fell on its side and only thing was lost was connection to internet which connected straight away, none of my games have ever been scratched by standing up, the vents are on the sides and the back, the vents are bigger on the back then the side but the sides have more vents tho so its about even, why would you lay it down horizontaly knowing the vents are on the side:? that i dont get...

I agree, nice find but not worth it unless you want to keep replacing your disks. too many times do people come to my work saying they bought it with a **** off laser burn and the convo goes as such..
"so it came like this?"
"yer, i only put it in my xbox and it was like this"
"ok, erm is your xbox stood up?"
"yer..."
"yep, your an idiot" :D

Have always had my 360 vertical and have never had an issue with scratched disks, even my original launch console lasted longer than most(the dreaded Hitachi drive, but still lasted 2 years, and that was in roasting hot Argentina!!).

Personally wouldn't trust this stand though as from the pictures it appears to be blocking off two of the vents(the bottom ones when vertical).

Haven't voted either way.

good deal for the remote n plug n play definately wouldnt use the stand i killed 2 of my games with it stood like tht!

All those bitchin' about Vertical or Horizontal placement of the 360, really I cannot see it makes any difference, have any of you actually taken apart a 360? The plastic channeling tunnel is there to direct heat out through the two rear fans at the back right of the unit which lie next to the PSU input. Horizontal or Vertical placement will have no effect on this. As long as the unit has the required ventilation and this not blocked it makes no difference.

Perhaps READ what people are saying :whistling: I think that most people are commenting that you are MORE LIKELY to scratch your discs when placing them in vertically as you have to be more accurate with your aim. Whereas, horizontally, you just drop them on to the load tray

If your aim isn't accurate enough to put the disk in the drive then you'll have no hope trying to play games like Modern Warfare online:-D

Yes, people are saying that, BUT also have been stating things with regards the "heat issue" so don't try and tell me that I don't know how to read! If you read my post I was REFERRING to CONCERNS OVER VENT BLOCKING ISSUES, with RELATION to the vents horizontal or vertical being blocked or not (as I said it makes no difference), I CHOSE not to mention anything about those saying that vertically it scratches disks..get over it.

Never ever had a problem loading in a disk in the vertical position, I have two 360s, one vertical in the lounge, one horizontal in the games room, never had a disk issue with either.

What has aim got to do with it, I place my disks in the tray not throw them in?!
