Brilliant find, the play and charge kit is an Argos own brand one of which I brought 2 recently and they were each more than this, both work brilliantly by the way, so effectively you'd get the stand and the remote for free. The stand I wouldn't use as I understand that using the Xbox that way round can cause discs to be scuffed, but the remote is brilliant because otherwise you have to turn the controller on in order to pause the DVD which takes a few moments and can get quite annoying.

Good find - Heat added. Ordered one - only one left in stock in Blackburn area

none in blackpool

I take it the remote just works like the official 360 one and doesn't require any kind of USB dongle like some PS3 third party stuff?

I don't think it's the vertical alignment that causes scratching (I had mine vertical for three years, even without a stand, and had no issues), the problem is changing the alignment while the disk is spinning. It's spinning fast enough to be essentially a gyroscope, so it will continue spinning in exactly the same plane - if the case is tilted even just a little the disk will start rubbing against the read head and the carrier. It won't happen if the XBox is laid down horizontally because it's hard to accidentally tilt something that wide while it's fairly easy to do when it's vertical, which is possibly where the idea comes from.

A vertical stand would at least make it trickier to accidentally tilt it, so it's a good idea to use it if the XBox is already vertical. Not a good idea if it's horizontal already - leave well enough alone!

It is a cut down version - fewer buttons, fewer functions, but doesn't need a USB dongle to work.

This type of bundle is coming down in price because things like the stand won't fit the newer design slim 360.

I had my Xbox vertical for a month or so and Halo 3 and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground got scratches from it. They're not the big scratch marks you get from moving the console, I get lots of little ones which make the disc unreadable. It's been 2+ years since then and had no problems since thanks to having my console horizotal now.
