Yes, it is, but if you do it in public you might get arrested. ;-)

Seriously, I don't know but I'm sure you might still be able to 'chip' it. This would mean that you would not be able to get any dashboard updates or use Xbox live of course.

Bit of advice for everyone who buys this:

The 250GB is £40 more. Of course, many choose to buy an old 360 hdd or a portable HDD and stick it in the 4GB (tutorials on youtube etc) and save money. You will need to do this if you are buying one (HDD space) unless you are a very light user, but some online games require a HDD (Halo Reach for many game modes) and if you use xbox live at all you will probably need one.

I prefer this however because the 250GB has a shiny black finish (dust magnet). HOT DEAL!

So the site either wrote 4GB or Arcade by accident.

In any case, it's got the picture of the new one on the site, so I'm sure it's the 'S' model, and if it isn't you can just return it.

£30 more you might aswell get a 250gig model
#16
Cheap, but why would you want this when the 250gb is £30 more?
#17
Hot because some of use don't want the shiny black finish and don't need or already have a bigger HDD to fit.

Nobody has been banned for having a flashed drive in around a year now. The next big update from Microsoft has been confirmed to re-flash drives back to stock firmware anyway. I doubt they'll bother banning anyone for flashed drives any time soon.

Also @ PurplePerson, chipping consoles was (mostly) last gen. With the 360 there's no need for modchips. You just flash the DVD drive with unofficial firmware such as LT+ which allows games to be played from dual layer DVDs.

where?
#19
theyre so much more useable with a HDD and HDDs alone are bloody expencive.
#20
Voted hot, great price, if you want more storage you can use up to 2 x 16GB x USB sticks (32GB) which can be used as storage for game saves, DLC, and installing games etc. a 250gb hard drive can be added later (if needed) you can get 250gb drives really cheap if you look around...
#21
While this is hot, I'd be wary. There's a lot of deals going on at the moment on 360s and people are thinking that there will be a new model as MS seem to be clearing stock.
#22
Thats one hot price for one hot Console
banned#23
If you have an old console you can disassemble the hard drive casing and take the actual hard drive out.
#24
Don't forget cashback...will probably cover the delivery cost ;)
#25
Cracking price.. As has already been said, the 250GB is a better purchase for £30 more, but this is still an outrageously good buy..

I've not seen it for £150 but you can get it for £160 here: http://www.shopto.net/XBOX%20360/HARDWARE/XB2BU57-Xbox%20360%20250gb%20Console%20Black.html

It is usual practice to spend more to get more, but some people don't want more.
#28
even the shopto.net website now mention the xbox 4gb as "arcade", really thinking about this since the psn has been down, is there anything equivalent to play tv on xbox?

Brilliant price.

Perfect for someone wanting the console that can't stretch to £150 + more for games.

Some people do talk as if money's no object for everyone at times. Given the option, I'm sure most people would look to start with the 250Gb model. Obviously not everyone has that option though.

There's a lot to be said for spending £120 on the base console, and then having money in hand to spend on cheap games to get your collection off the ground. Nothing to stop you adding a hard drive later, of course.

My Mrs worked overtime and put her attendance bonus aside so she could scrape enough together to get me a 4Gb model for my birthday, and I love her for it. She probably could've spent more and got the 250Gb, but as she'd spent basically all the money she had at the time, I've had been unwrapping a console complete with precisely nothing to play on it.

Prefer the 4GB console as its MATTE and not PIANO BLACK which is a dust magnet like the FAT PS3.
#33
You can use your old Xbox 360 drive (as I did) when the RROD hits. Hot hot hot.
#34
First thing I noticed was:
Availability: Usually dispatched within a month

No going to pay now and get "maybe" in a month.

Perhaps they've recently ran out of stock since this deal was posted. Cold due to the wait, but not voting, because the price is epic.

over the past month there must have been a dozen threads of 250gig models going for £150, from Game; Amazon. Currys, and Tesco.

The 360 S (Slim) can't be flashed yet.

C4E has said the firmware is in the final stages of testing & will be released soon.

It will most likely be released after the XDG3 dashboard update is released.

Judging by hacked firmware & bans, you typically have around 1yr after the last CFW before Microsoft drop the banhammer.
There hasn't been a ban in almost 2yrs now. But expect one soon or atleast the inability to retrieve your drive key with the upcoming dash update.
You will never get insta-banned for having a flashed drive. That would somewhat reveal Microsofts detection methods. They collect data of all offenders over time to ensure the greatest of accuracy.

Slims with Liteon 9504 drives have been flashable for over a month now. Easier way to check if you have a 9504 is to check that your console was manufactured before August 2010 and the 4th last digit of the serial number is the number 2 i.e. 1234567[2]345

The second gen liteon drive in Slims cannot be written to but you can extract the key, write it to a 9504 as 0225 CFW. This is likely what is in testing at the moment.

As for the deal it's scorching but anyone wanting to 'flash' these consoles will find that it is highly likely that these will have gen 2 liteon or newer hitachi 0500 which won't be modifiable for quite some time yet.

Get the original elites if you can find one cheap, they are far superior to the new ones.

The touch buttons and terrible fan placement are just 2 of the many terrible and annoying features about the new console.

If you decide to go for one though, get this one, and stick your own HDD in. The 250 gig model looks tacky with the cheap shiny plastic, and scratches from the slightest bit of air whisping past it. Mine hasnt been moved since I got it and it looks like I've took a sander to it.

This guy is pure jokes. Every thread I seem to look in, he's there talking utter, utter crap, hahaha.

Get an old Elite. It's noisier, uses more electricity, has no w-fi, has fewer USB ports, has no dedicated Kinect port, and has no proper optical port, but yeah - get one instead of this!
