sooo how do you quidco ebay? i know you can quidco zavvi directly but the price isnt the same, I know ebay gives you 40% back of what they earn.. but its based on their earnings, not the total sale price.
#7
I believe it is 40% of the fee that ebay charge the seller on completion. I think business sellers may get a better rate.

Good deal, heat added.

Not sure if I should pick this up or wait for a good bundle deal (there seems to be none about at the minute)
Ah, decisions, decisions...

Probably... so there IS a chance you COULD get banned (The serial number is likely to be the one used for modding a WD BEV drive.) I managed to get a genuine 250GB (old) Xbox drive from Argos for £49, dismantled the casing and I'm now using in mine... STILL a chance to get banned I suppose, but I doubt MS would be looking for a genuine MS hard drive on a genuine MS Xbox (I hope!)

In around the past 3 years of using a .bin file to clone a drive I don't think there has been ANY banning of anyones Live account for doing such a thing, if you know otherwise I would be interested in seeing a link to such an article.

Certainly there have been Live Bans from DVD Drive Firmware mods, but nothing else.

I don't know, certainly doesn't seem any cheaper than they were selling 250GB Elites some 18 months ago!
#23
Why is this so hot? Doesn't seem much cheaper than they normally cost... or am I missing something?

High street price is typically £200 , Amazon £189.99. This is cheaper and you can get Quidco too.

I bought a 4gb 360 for £119 just before xmas then bought a 250gb HD from this guy. He is the guy from HK on ebay. I told him Dealextreme were selling them cheaper than him on ebay & he told me to go direct to his website. I did and took a chance on this HDD for LESS than £30 delivered. (make sure you convert to £'s instead of AUD). It works like a dream. I now have a 250gb console for £149. It's the cheapest way to do it kids! Forget all these people who say it will be banned mine is working on live no problems and has been since before xmas.

Just because you haven't been banned doesn't mean you won't. Not saying you will, and you'll probably be fine, but the truth is no-one knows if you will be banned - you won't now, but could be in the future.

But in all reality, you probably won't, and considering the saving, it's a tempting way to go.

Look, all i'm saying is if like me you are willing to take a chance on a cheaper alternative then it's solely your decision. Although I could encounter problems in the future with this drive it's the chance i'm willing to take. I transfered all my files to the HDD and its running great, no issues what-so-ever. Very easy to install also.

Sent my Studio order back after getting the 4GB one and then having to argue over the total cost of the bill due to them trying to charge me more for an inferior item than the one ordered, they collected the item the next day and I ordered a 4GB deal from Amazon which cost me £1 more, but I got a HDMI cable and an extra game.

Here is the link for the deal, i'm sure the temp of the deal is misleading as this is the best deal I could find, and I think it really is a good deal.

Also, you can buy a 250gb HD from Amazon for £64.26 to add to the console.

nice deal i guess. But when old school 360 arcades were at £70 and a trip to blockbuster gets you a 120gb hdd for £20 I dont think i could bring myself to pay £180.

Not that much of reduction to warrant a 1000deg deal.

EDIT: SORRY I GOT IT WRONG LOLalthough this was a typical price last year, voted hot because of the VAT increase has brought up the standard price and this therefore is a good deal
£180 in 2010 = £205 in 2011 if my maths is right

Up £25 after a 2.5% VAT increase? You're looking at around an extra £3-£4.

2010 normal price was £200 and 2011 £205. The £180 must have been a special.

Nice calculation !! oO

You can work out the difference by dividing the old price by 117.5 and multiplying by 120, then that gives you the correct value, therefore...
Net price of item @ £180 which included VAT @ 17.5% = £153.19
Old VAT included @ 17.5% = £180
New VAT included @ 20% = £183.83

Therefore an increase of only £3.83
