Saw four xbox cores up for grabs in Watford toys r us - guess old stock but as M$ provide 3 year warranty so it's worth a punt. No HDMI though as these are cores.

Not sure if it's nationwide

Three year warranty for RROD only.

Other than that, bump.

What's the cheapest price for an arcade by the way?
#3
seems a good price for a 360
#4
You will need to buy a memory card or a hard drive so you can save your games and make a profile.
#5
I might get one of these, my flashed prem just died, will cost £45 to get it fixed,

But then if i get the core and get it flashed it will take it up to £130, instead of £45 to get the old one fixed.
#6
flash it yourself and sell the broken one on ebay...flashing isn't hard.

If you find any stock within any Toys R Us you will be very lucky - This hasn't been stocked since last year !!

The best deal that they are doing is Microsoft Windows Vista Basic & Premium £4.99 !!!!!:w00t:

Again very, very, very limited stock.

Orange box on the pc £4.99 - more of these around !

Happy hunting :)

What is this flashing people are referring to?

I have 1 of the first premiums and the disc drive is dying. I was thinking about buying a core and just putting my 20GB HD onto it. Will that work or do I have to mess on with settings etc?

Will work although any downloaded live content will not play unless you are connected to live at that time

There's a new 'license transfer tool' available that means you don't have to be signed in anymore to play your old downloads on a new console.

been thinking of getting one of these for ages... can it act as a media centre extender? any good?
if I buy a hard disk is there any other differences apart from colour/hdmi between this and the permium models?

No other differences apart from the ones you pointed out.

But the core doesnt come with a component lead for hd output, so you would need to buy one.
#22
I thought all 360 now come with the hdmi port.

These core systems will also have good DVD Drives in them....
Usually the Toshiba-Samsung H943 DVD-drives and good for flashing and excellent quite playback...

I have this version broke 4 times, month each time to fix..... call centre seems nice, but won't help you, have to wait the month each repair... if had know this would bought a HDMI version... so didn't vote on this, sorry
#29
I wouldnt bother. Wait until Autumn and the arcade will be £100 - £120 I reckon. You get a new machine with hdmi and all the reliability problems ironed out...

Re:- Windows £4.99

It's not online - only instore.

Just a few left within the whole company, something like 28 Basic & 11 premium on sale day (Weds), that's why it was such a limited offer and not online - why they reduced it so cheap I don't know - I can't believe that any are left now.

Orange box (pc) for £4.99 again instore.
#31
I believe there is at least one in swindon.
Just had a look and saw the £99 core offer on a DVD cover where the accessories are (in stock).
Stood and watched it for a while and decided against it.
#32
did not get any of the above but got a steering wheel thingy with the pedal for the old xbox for 6p !!!!!!

also some GBA accessories were 6p as well - this was in preston :)

I tried 3 stores in the North West and none of them had the offer or even knew about it. :x
#35
I went to the Leicester store to get the Orange Box (PC)

Ended up paying, waiting for the game and came home empty handed with a REFUND reciept

Tamworth Toy-R-Us had 6 of the £99 base packs in yesterday...
(If anyone's interested)
