Noob post, so apologies if someone has already mentioned this elsewhere.

Found what might be a good buy, even though this might be dropped soon/new XBOX 360, PS3 etc.

Details:

Does not include Hard Drive
Xbox 360 console. As with the premium edition, three powerful core processors pump out 720p/1080i output, 16x9 cinematic aspect ratio, anti-aliasing for smooth textures, full surround sound and DVD playback right out of the box.
Xbox 360 Faceplate. Like no other console before, the Xbox 360 console allows customisation and a removable Faceplate that comes in stylish 'chill' (white), which can be swapped out with other custom Faceplates to reflect gamers' personalities or decor.
Xbox 360 Standard AV Cable. This connects gamers to the world of Xbox 360, delivering great next-generation graphics and games using standard-definition connections.

Please note that this post refers to the core system, as originally stated. Some posters are complaining that this does not come with a hard drive. The core system has never come with a hard drive, so this is not so relevant.

If you want to buy a core system today, this represents a good deal. If you want to buy something that might be out tomorrow, wait until tomorrow.

Don't forget that although Quidco says that cashback is 2% from Play.com, it's actually 4% making the final price for this deal £143.99.

Very good find stewamar!

Nice price, voted hot.

Don't forget 2% quidco

I'm giving this a warm vote because it doesn't include a hard-drive therefore isn't the greatest of things BUT it is still a good price!

Well it is the 'CORE' console and it's £50 cheaper than anywhere else.

It is the core!!!!
#6
Voted hot as it is a great price but would not be suprised to see this drop even more in the near future.
#7
i would expect that in a month or so you will be able to get a core with a couple of games and a memory card thrown in for 150

Exactly, and drop big time because the core doesn't sell half as many as the premium as the hard-drive is a pretty huge part of the xbox system.
#9
I think it's pretty unfair you're only giving this guy a "warm" vote as it doesn't have the HD, when it's pretty obvious he's only posting a link to the "Core" system.
#10
I have a feeling that the Core SKU is on the way out, and the current deals on the Core pack across the net is a way to get rid of stock. Methinks that MS are looking to drop the Core pack and will be getting ready to drop the Premium 360 down to £200 in time for the PS3 launch on March 23rd.

I'll vote hot, as its a damn good price!
#11
£150 for a CORE pack is a great price, there is no mention in his post of it being a premium pack so why are you bringing the HD into the equation ?

Voted HOT
Ideal for modding hehe
#12
many core packs in stores still have the old drives as sales are poor so stock has beed there for a while which are easier to mod are they not

great deal
#13
Hot!!!
#14
great price. HOT
#15
Great price for this!

The core system is ideal for people who just want a games console and not a media centre(storing music on & stuff).

I bought myself the Xbox + 4 game pack for £50 just after Christmas, I'm very tempted by this.

If I had the spare cash I would go for it, top deal
#16
I don't know about the technical differences between the models... but looking purely at what is listed as included in the premium pack, this is still a good price.

If the wireless controller isn't important to you, you could buy stuff separately...

Core Module 150
Headset 13
Hard Drive 65
HD Cables 18
----------------
Total 246

More importantly, if you bought just the HD-DVD player and cables to go with your Core module, you would have your next-gen media player for sub-£300. (Apologies if in fact I am wrong on this and you need the hard-drive and/or Premium version to run the HD-DVD)

Just a quick queation if i may, does the 360 support 1080p or is 1080i it's max display setting ?
I know 1080p is a option in the settings menu but until i get a 1080p TV i can't test this out.
#18
At this current moment in time, it's HOT. In a month or so probably not but that's a moot point. Great find!
#19
Yes the 360 does 1080p - although no games have yet come out that output this natively - I think the first one is supposed to be Virtua Tennis 3 in a couple of months.
#20
Thanks for the pointer and your first deasl post stewamar :)

Nice find!

Ah Virtua Tennis 3, that will be a sweet game indeed, loved the last 2. I just hope a decent 1080p tv gets posted on HDUK before then so i can be ready to play it in all it's glory (42" would be great....lol)
#23
superb price, especially for someone who doesnt want/need to use xboxlive. voted hot and +ve left. well done OP
#24
What extra is needed for someone who bought this and then wanted to play on xbox live? just a headset or do you need the hd too?
#25
Still think my find is better

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deal/20837/xbox-360-core-console-with-viva-pin/

2 games and a memory card for £50 extra
#26
I would say that you would need the harddrive for live as most of the games will need updates (downloaded automatically) before you can play multiplayer. Also i think some games do actually require the harddrive (i think!) Essentially, the only other thing you're gonna need is the headset ;-)
#27
Just like to say this is not a hot deal. There is going to be a 360 price drop, the Premium Xbox 360 console is to sell for £199.
#28
this is a hot deal IMO, go into a shop on the high street, and theyre still charging £199. Therefore this indicates a £50 saving. As someone said earlier in this thread (soz cant remember ur name) in a month or so this may not be such a good deal if the core is to be discontinued

Also where is your source..do you have a link??

Very good deal. But as others have pointed out you'd need to get the HDD too. Voted hot.

Why would anyone want a core system anyway? You can't play old Xbox games without the hard drive and doesn't come with component cables.

Unless you're willing to personally guarantee this in the next month and supply people with a brand new premium if you're wrong, then yes maybe it is not hot.

Otherwise it is the best price at the moment and is hot.

lol, that wouldnt happen to be the same MAKRO link that has been posted up here a number of times?? i thought the £199 price was excluding VAT (and obviously you have to have a makro card)

Dont think its referring to a general price drop, so what you're saying is pure speculation

It is a good deal NOW.

Technology-based items generally go down in price over time, so the only good time to buy is "tomorrow", which is no good if you want the item today!

Reply from stewamar:Not everybody has a TV which can accept component cables. Not everyone wants to play old XBOX games.
#37
But then why would a person then want to spend money buying loads of memory units to save games when (presumably) their game collection grows?
#38
exactly, not everyone had an xbox1... some people actually had things called P...S...2's lol

Game saves take up hardly any space....

Someone who doesn't want to play *OLD* xbox and is not going to connect to a TV/monitor using component perhaps, someone on a budget?

Personally I don't want a PS2 for £50 but that doesn't mean it isn't a good deal. Same with this, if it is what you want now, it seems a good price today.

You could always buy the hard drive later when you have more cash! Or wait until a larger hd comes out.
