That seems a pretty good deal to me :) For example, play are doing just the core console for £149, and most other £199 core deals I have seen have excluded pes6. Nice find :)

yeah its a very good deal. Glad I didnt buy the core on its own today.

how much u can get for games if u trade?

marc.safe - that avatar is supremely schwing lol.

Back on topic, i'm not sure whether to go for this deal for a second machine in the bedroom or hold out for some even better premium deals when the elite comes out

If this had the hard drive, I'd jump at it, but without it I don't see the 360 as worth it.

Great offer for the price but just not for me. Voted hot nonetheless. :)

At CEX you'd get £27 cash or £35 trade in.

Better just to get the £150 core unit and an £18 memory card from Play.

Friend of mine just bought a core and it had the newest hitachi drive (ver. 0078 firmware) which is flashable.

In fact the only ones which arent flashable at the minute are the ultra rare benq drives. Chances are very good you will be able to flash a new 360.

Add all the items inc pro evo to ur trolley and you will see £199 as the total:thumbsup:

Nice deal, but tbh in order to enjoy the 360 its best to have a HDD with it. So either go premium or wait for the 120GB HDD release. Mind you, the 20GB ones cost £15 to produce, but sell for £60 :S I've got a few spare 250gb sata hdds around... i'd like to be able to just stick one of them in tbh.

what does the HDD do if you are mainly a gamer?
#24
I've heard you guy's talking about flashing an x-box. I presume you don't mean the dirty old man with a trench coat kinda flashing, so could you please enlighten me as to what you mean by "flashing the drive". I'm looking into buying a 360, is this something I will need to do regularly?
#25
The HDD allows you to save marketplace downloads - extra characters for games, more maps, even arcade games like Worms, Turtles etc. Also the HDD stores updates for games - i.e. when developers release a patch for bugs in a game, it'll save the changes there - with a memory card, there is very little space to do so. You can also download demos of games, and the demos are up to 2GB. So rather than buying magazines with demos, you can download them to HDD and delete them when you're finished with them. Also some games require a HDD in order to play.

Flashing the 360 is not common, and usually only done by people familiar with the hardware. 'Flashing' the xbox360 drive basically removes the 'disc' detection bit of the firmware, such that you can play games that have been successfully downloaded, copied or backed up. True backups come from games you own, not ones you download! Some people use backups so their original discs do not get scratched. 99% of xbox 360s are not flashed. I will sometimes see people (friends, other) who have flashed drives playing games that have been released in the US and not in the UK yet, but they'll download them and play them. Flashing is also a way of bypassing region protection iirc (Buy the game online from the US, then copy it at home such that the 360 will play it etc).

Nearly all correct, but flashing doesn't allow you to play games not from your region unless they are coded as region free (a UK PAL 360 will only play XBOX1 & XBOX 360 games of the same region or region free games), various sites show which games are region free - use Google!

A great deal! Would have gone for it myself had I not ordered one from Amazon.de the other week. If you don't need the games and mem card I'm sure you would get around £60 back after fees by selling them on eBay. I would also go for the 3 year cover for £29.99 as the 360 is not the most reliable console ever made, i'm on my second but have heard of people who have had four or more.

get this offer for £169.95.

Reserve on-line, go instore and go buy a £100 gift voucher & get your free £10 voucher. Then go again and buy another £100 gift voucer, get another free £10 voucher.....use the 2x£100 vouchers to pick up your reservation and get another £10 gift voucher.

To recap, spend £200 and be left over with £30 in gift vouchers to buy another game perhaps, for free!

The gift voucher offer doesn't apply to buying gift vouchers.. So pick the dim looking assistant that might not realise this.

The T&C are

Excludes the purchase of gift vouchers using gift vouchers as a method of payment.

so you can buy gift vouchers with card / cash and get a gift voucher. It is only if you try to buy the vouchers with other vouchers that you do not get them
#35
