I know this isn't exactly a deal where you walk away with a bargain but Im pretty sure the £110 credit you get from trading in a regular elite model is by far the best price.

Also, £180 trade in for a PS3 120GB Slim that can be found brand new for as little as £155 (Ebuyer deal) is good.

That is awful lol.
I got £140 trade in OR cash for my Slim 250GB in GAME a few weeks back.

Lmao at their offer of £10 more cash than a regular elite. Absolutely awful.

There prices on consoles are no more than what GAME charge. There may be a 5% difference in some cases but its not that big.

There are even Nintendo DSi's for around £95 pre owned in store which is better than GAME.
You'd get a much better deal trading in a regular Elite with HMV and getting a 250GB Slimline than you would doing the same in GAME.

Strange seeing as the website states £75 for an Xbox 120GB Elite:

HERE

Good deal if you want anything in-store, or maybe want to look into upgrading an existing Xbox elite to the new Xbox Slim.

Hmm strange.
You could argue for the better price either way :P

Well spotted mate, the offer of £110 is a big improvement and on a par with the going rates on eBay.

The challenge is... how do I transfer what's on my current HD, before handing the thing over?

You now have the option to use a usb memory stick (up to 16GB).
#12
how much do they offer for the network adaptor ?
#13
You buy out your new console first then trade in ur old elite once u have transfered the data which is when u get ur trade in of £110

My 12 year old son has asked if he could trade in his Xbox 360 premium 60gb(think thats what it is) but I do not have a clue how much trade in he would get.Would anyone know? Either Game or HMV?
#15
Anyone rang up any other stores to confirm?.

But the £110 is instore credit, you dont want to spend £200 on new 250gb S Xbox and then have £110 credit for HMV

Agreed,

I would never shop in HMV store, as its a rip off.
#18
To all those asking how much you get for other things then I do not know. This deal only relates to what is in the picture (exclude the Wii - the offer is **** poor).

Just transfer you save data to a USB memory stick (the Xbox will format one so it works) and re-download all your DLC as this is saved on your Xbox Live Account.
It's really easy...

Like I said before. Would you rather trade in a Xbox 360 120GB Elite for £60-£70ish at GAME and pay around £130ish extra for a Slimline

OR

Trade in an Elite at HMV and pay £80-£90 extra for a Slimline?

How about getting a 120GB PS3 Slim for around £150-£160 on Ebay/Amazon Deals/Best Buy and getting an extra £20-£30 for it when buying a newer version.

True the prices CAN be higher than other places but compared to GAME, etc they are very similar and in this case offer MUCH BETTER trade in prices.

Stop moaning lol, and see this deal for what it is.

I've been looking around at trade in prices for my xbox 360 and I know from that experience that you wont get £110 trade in for an Elite at HMV.

My local (Lakeside) HMV have that exact same box on display but the £110 has a £75 sticker over it. The Wii and PS3 prices probably had stickers over them too but I didn't really pay attention to those.

The store where that photo were taken just haven't updated their displayed prices yet, but the till wont ring through at that price.

This could be true.
However, why not argue that if the advertisement states that price then they would likely give it to you. There were no 'sticker marks' on this box so they could not accuse you of taking the stickers off. They also had Xbox 360 120GB Elites at £150 preowned so the £110 trade in price does make sense.

Also, someone posted an online link where the PS3 120GB Slims were worth £190 trade in value thus making them worth even more.

Even if it was a mistake they have not bothered to rectify it and it would be up to the customer to pursue such a mistake.

Hmmm, I might have a look into chopping in my 120gb Elite for a slim (More so that when we get the Kinect I don't need an extra power supply to run it!)

Phoned HMV Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow and trade in price is £75, not £110.

Im not doubting that but the picture does say £110.
So if you were in the Cribbs store and they tried to give you the £75 nonsense then just dump that advertisement on the counter with a big fat grin.

Then feel stupid if/when they express their rights and not give you the £110 stated, great plan *rolleyes*

Not been the case when its happened to me before in GAME and HMV.
I am fully aware of cases where if it is too good to be true then it probably is. However, in order to keep the customer happy and not highlight someone's mistake then if it is not that much of a loss (in the greater scheme of things ofc) then it is highly likely they will give you it for the advertised price.

The PS3's are showing online as £190 trade in value so in fact you could get more than what that advertisement is saying.

i disagree, there are plenty of bargins to be had, i traded with them spent £2000 in a year and a half, got 200000 pure points for a £3 card , worth over £60 of hmv vouchers or other stuff. bought a 320gb hard drive for £30, bought loads of copies of pes 2011 and sold them for the same price i bought to c.e.x, even made profit on some, like kane and lynch with a free leon blu ray. when the price was high.
#29
No when go back to the store they refund the price of your console then resell it too you minus the difference you get for your console which means you get ur slim 250gb for £90 thats what i done when they first done this deal .. its pretty much the same deal as 4 months ago http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/xbox-360-elite-trade-in-for-new-con/714335
your console has to be perfect with box and everything as new

No you don't. I have only seen a few Elite's reach the £110 mark but then you have the extortionate 15-20% ebay & paypal fees so your looking at £85 if your lucky.

Because Its cash, and because you can get around the £110 mark.
I sold mine for £110 WITHOUT the harddrive, plus two really old crappy games

20%?? No chance. I made £110 less £12 fee's plus i kept my harddrive which has got to be worth £30-£40 save me getting a new one. I'm not saying everyone will sell theirs for that much, But I personally did So from my point of view its not particularly hot

You were lucky then. A 120GB hard drive is not worth £30-£40 lol.
Did you consider insertion, final value & paypal fees?

Insertion fee (private sellers) £30.00 - £99.99 = £1.00
Final Value Fees = 10.0% of the amount of the winning bid, up to a maximum final value fee of £40.00
Paypal fees = approx 3.4% plus 20p of the transaction.

So lets say you started auction at £30 your insertion fee is £1.00, your final value fee was 10% of £110 = £11, your paypal fee = £3.72

£1.00 + £11.00 + £3.72 = £15.72 which is approx 15% of what you sold it for. So you come out with under £95.00 and was very lucky to get that for it.

Ebay would be fine if you were getting a better deal, but I seriously doubt that after fee's you'd make more than £110 on Ebay.
And I'm talking about selling today, not what you got 6 months ago .

Precisely. A lot of people are quick to slate this offer but Im the only person whose provided a pic of this in-store. No pic no proof :D
#39
The cheapest used Elite on Amazon Marketplace at the moment is £119.99 (and that's unboxed). Amazon will take £10-£15 of that, but at least it's cash.

I tend to find that if I list something on Marketplace at the cheapest price, it's usually sold within a day. I'm not saying that this is a crap deal or anything, but I'd definitely go down that route personally.
