Been into Game tonight and was told not to buy an Xbox Elite tonight as there is a price drop tomorrow guy went through the deals with me and said I can get a 360 Elite for £149.99 as of tomorrow and get it with Alan Wake for just £10 more so will be back there tomorrow.

I know the new machine comes out sometime next month but this still seems to be a bragain to me. Deal appears to be online as well but can't seem to find the £149.99 on its own but was assured I can get that price in store.

LOL i can see that happening
#3
So i was being told the truth

With the sheer volume of pre-owned 360's currently being traded at game for the new slim, i wouldn't put it past game to be flogging said used consoles in these deals!
For the sake of £40 more, you can get a 250gb hdd, wi-fi and a brand new console!
#5
£18 alan wake is that all im so glad I offloaded mine at £30 to them

yeah what he said
#7
I guess this will make lower the value of trade in values for the current 360 phats.
#8
while this sounds very cheap which it is dont get me wrong, its alot of console for £150.

as said above for the sake of another £40-£50 u getting a whole lot more once slim out
#9
Not really that great a deal considering game have been selling elites with 2 of the latest games for £199.99 for the past 12 months. also with the new elite you get the 250gb harddrive and built in wireless. Also amazon usually have a better deal on so id wait for them to price match/beat

i know its not been done here i nthis thread but the amount of stick microsoft get,but look at the price pushes they enforce, elite for £150,arcades for £80,absolutly crazy prices for the fun u can have on them

the new elite(super) doesn't have wifi, its the new 'Xbox 360 250GB'(slim) which does.

but i know for a fact that my sainsburys (which is a big one), will not have this deal!

This deal is rubbish, Elites have been knocking around with a couple of games for a bit under £200 for about 12 months. They have regularly been available for about £170 in the past 6 months, sometimes with games. Now that it is the old version 360 you are saving another £10, lets buy ten then. Saving £35 over a new model with better specs is hardly worth it and that is before the package deals start to come in on general release of the slim. Anyone thinking of buying should wait till the new model is upon us. Then everywhere with Phat 360s will be selling them even cheaper and the slims will be available in good game bundles for decent money. Sure I will now get flamed by a load of 360 nomarks who can't see the wood for the trees.
#15
I think it's an ok-ish deal however I think I would rather hang tight for the Slim.

agreed. if you can wait another 3 weeks or so, get the slim. especially if you need a wifi adapter (for elite), or interested in getting the kinect attachment (extra charge for old xboxs; cable)

MS aren't responsible for £80 Arcades, the market is. Have you seen what MS charge for Office, or to businesses in general? Did you not notice how they only started offering a cheap OS for netbooks when it became apparent it was a large new user base that would be Linux only if they did not? Do you not think they would charge more if they could? :whistling:

The idea of MS as altruistic in any market is absurd. They are a serious capitalist business and want to make as much money as possible. I would do the same in their shoes

Note I am not arguing against the fact that at £80 a 360 Arcade is the best value console in the current market as that is definitely the case.

If you can wait till near Chrimbo the Kinect super deals will arrive. I know I am happy with my Arcade with 120GB HDD till then.

Agreed. They've already confirmed Kinetic bundles for November so unless you really HAVE to have the slim one now it's best to wait.

I'll be having one soon though as my 3 year warranty expires this August so might as well get it traded in.

its MS that tell them to drop there price, when a new console comes out microsoft charge them less, allowing them to reduce the price further

I'm still waiting for some good Arcade deals...

It's stock clearing, it's commonplace and it's hardly them doing everyone a favour as was implied. Also if these price drops are controlled by MS then why aren't they universal?

Game still retails for £25 and is a very good title so its an elite for £125. Thats stupidly cheap, if you want the game of course.

Huge back catalogue of games available for cheap money now no reason not to get one, its cheaper than the wii and is on a completely different level technology wise.
#25
My friend is looking to trade his PS3 in for this deal.

Anybody have an idea on how much credit he'd get for it? It's a PS3 slim 120GB, 2 controllers, all leads.

Those haven't been nationwide though have they... (and the first one you linked to was a phantom deal afaik).

That was nice of the guy to be honest with you and tell you to hold on. There's going to be loads of deals like this knockin' about to get them sold through in preparation for the slim. :)

£160 - £25 = £135 :whistling:

and that is IF you want the game.

Why does every 360 deal have a load of 360 fans voting it hot regardless of quality

I'm guessing those are where the poster saying £80 for an Arcade was getting his lead from. To be fair they have been available for around £100 at numerous times, just need to keep your eye in for a bargain (or time a shopping trip to the nearest city on Slim release day).

What will be interesting to see is what spec the currently unspecified $199 Slim will have, and what that will mean in UK £

Assuming this is Jasper, from what I'm hearing about the slim at the moment, this may be the safer (and cheaper) bet.
#31
Will definately be Jasper. There has been no non jasper stock in the wild at major retailers from around September last year.

You can just check the manufacture date anyway if you are buying in store, they will almost certainly be sept 2009 onwards manufactured.

In all honesty this deal is only good if you really can't wait 3 weeks for the better version. £50 gives you double the HDD space, a £40 built in wireless adaptor, a quieter console which means you don't have to install your games and waste HDD space and, even though its a small improvement, it is slightly smaller than the original 360. I'd hold off personally. They will be near the £100 mark if stock is still lying around come launch day for the slim.

I bought a MW2 branded super elite at christmas so don't think I will ever bother upgrading. the warranty on it expires on November 2012 by which time I expect MS to have released a new console anyway.

new ones not called the elite tho! just making sure you knew, which you obviously dont because you're still calling it the elite!

Yep, rather than suffering Game's awful trade in values he should swap it me for my 360 Arcade ;-)

Microsoft's marketing descriptions really have me wondering about how mentally challenged their customers are. Or maybe they're all just americans.

First you’ll notice the little things. And we mean that literally. The console itself is smaller – so it’ll fi t neatly on the shelf.
Its not small at all. Unless you're a massive McDonalds eating lardass. Plus you've just only done a smaller version to copy Sony.

Plus, we’re busting out the gloss black with chrome accents.
Bursting out? Now where have I seen gloss black and chrome accents on a console before..... PS3 perhaps?

While making the outside smaller, we decided to give a pretty serious boost to the inside. The built-in 250 GB drive has a ton of room to store fi lms, games, saves, add-ons, photos, music and anything else that you can think of. And it’s removable too, just in case you ever want to take it to a friend’s house.
There is no 'boost' in spec there. Xbox 360 Super Elite had 250GB, so how is this a boost over other models? If their 250GB hard drive only has a ton of room its a bit pointless isn't it? 250GB is actually 2,500 tons.

It might not seem like a big deal, but the cool factor of capacitive touch buttons cannot be over stated. Everyone has grown accustomed to the non-button buttons on fancy smart phones, so we’ve added that functionality to the power and eject buttons.
You're right, its not a big deal because the PS3 had that originally and then later dropped it. Did you just go to Sony's rejected parts bin and stick them onto the 360?

The only thing missing from this Xbox 360 is a Sony logo. Bill Gates is the master of plagarism.

Hi There, Game is currently offering £180 cash or £200 game vouchers for the PS3 slim 120gb with accessories which were included i.e one controller, leads etc.

most trade in prices are a joke but if you stick it on ebay i reckon you could get alot more than whatever company gives for trade in
