Some ok games but a lot a rubbish ones too and its not like they are worth more than a few quid each to trade in. On the face of it it looks good value, just warm from me.

You can get a 360 Elite with GTA 4 for £220 from Game and Gamestation. That to me offers better value because you could pick up Gears of War 2, Halo 3 and maybe Fallout 3 with the other £70.

there's an extra controller in there too...looking at the picture, its the wireless entertainment pack with trivial pursuit and burnout
#5
If you're getting it for kids as a pressie, then I'd say it was a good deal - imagine their faces when they open it with all the games!

For more mature gamers, then this isn't a great bundle. OK, but not great
#6
Choices have been really reliable for me the last few times, but i look at this deal and think its guna be a dusty older manu elite bundled together with all them games which they couldn't shift for a fiver, with a WEP ontop. Lukewarm at best.
#7
Can't believe this is getting heat for so many crap games lol. :?
#8
If you have a lot of present to give, this could work pretty well. You can sort out 16 presents. Well you can keep 2 or 3 games and the extra controller.

I think is a decent deal. Heat added. I am sure once this gets to the HOT page it would get really hot really quick.
#9
Agree, games are all to be avoided - except Burnout in the wireless pack and maybe Smackdown if you're into those. The other games are all the worst the system has to offer and wouldn't get more than £3 trade on any of them.

Yes, I think the games are pretty rubbish, apart from Burnout and maybe one or two more. They could have added some better cheap games that at least you would want to play like Mass Effect, DOA4, PGR3 or PGR4, etc, but no it looks like they just went to the back of the warehouse and got all the games that they never sold and put them here.
#11
You'd be better off looking for a hardware-only deal and buying the games you actually want. I swear they only use these deals to get rid of games that aren't selling.

The Elite isn't anything special either, same console as the Arcade, you're paying a lot extra for the black dye and a 120Gb hard drive you'll probably never use. My 20Gb hard drive is still adequate after three years.

even if you wanted ALL those games, you could pick them up for say a fiver each so you are in effect paying £220 for an elite! :w00t:

Agreed. But as for the hdd, have you tried playing games once their installed? no noise, no excessive heat, etc. its why i sold my 20gb and went for 60gb :)

Having an arcade is probably the best option at the moment.

1st They are the only Jaspers (latest model and 256MB built in memory)

Also adding a 120GB to an ARCADE means that if your XBOX does go wrong you keep your hard drive.
Some shops ask you to return everything if the XBOX goes wrong meaning sending your HDD as well which is a real pain.

But having an ARCADE and a separate hard drive resolves this issue. At least this is my opinion and after having to get my XBOX replaced 3 times, keeping my hdd has been a real bonus.

PS: I am a happy owner of two ARCADES (one Jasper and one Falcon) and no intention of changing them for an ELITE

You must have been lucky to have got one with a quiet drive then. My elite sounds like an aircraft taking off when the drive spins so impossible to play games without installing to HDD. Much quicker load times too :-D

Yes, they are but I do know some shops and I think specially supermarket ask you to give back everything when you need to get it replaced for a new one. And as we all know XBOX 360 do go wrong so chances of having to get it replaced are quite high.

I suppose you could ask them to open the new box and swap the HDD but there is no guarantee they'll do it.

Reason why I decided to go for the ARCADES, well my latest ARCADE was a replacement, and I did not know it was a JASPER until I've got home and notice that it had 256MB built in memory. I believe the ARCADE JASPERS are sold with no external 256MB memory card.

I still install the games on the HDD so no noise in that respect.

First of the known Jasper Elites were launched in March in the Red limited edition resident evil Elite bundles -

http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/Console/~r339955/Xbox-360-Limited-Edition-Red-Elite-Console-with-Resident-Evil-5/

Did not know about this. Thanks for the info

Any idea if these red ones had the 256 built in memory ?

AFAIK the only Jasper boards to have 256MB of built-in memory are the Arcade ones.

Actually and here is a breakdown:

Current revision of Arcades are Jaspers

Current revision of 60GB's are Jaspers

Current revision of Elites are Falcons Afaik
(This could change once the old stock has been cleared, it was stated that Elite did not sell as well as the other models meaning most companies including MS had massive stocks left to clear before the Elite was to be updated.)

The only known Jasper Elite was the Resident Evil 5 Bundle in Red.

There is still plenty of old stock floating around the market, especially Falcons in Arcade and 60GB so if purchasing try to goto the store and check for yourself.

You can do this by looking into the side of the box at the white label, to the left of the label it will state in the amperage rating, you are looking for 12.1a for Jasper, or 14.2 for Falcon, some Gaming stores will know whether they have new stock or old stock, all other stores i would personally check to make sure.

-

Back on topic, i think this is not a great deal, solely for the reason that it appears they are clearing the junk games they cannot sell otherwise (as stated by others above).

I did likewise a month or two back - the 20gb drive fills up so quickly. I had to delete a load of stuff just to squeeze one full game on there.
It's a stretch to say that it doesn't now make any noise, mind - mine's a lot quieter with games playing from the hdd, but it's hardly quiet... ;-)
#24
Have to say I don't see why this is so hot, the games are terrible! You can pick up an elite with the extra stuff and 3-4 good games for this price.

Missed off the cost of Burnout and the extra controller (about £35). That makes it around £160 for the Elite. I actually think this would be an ace starting set for kids. Nearly all the games are OK for them content wise and a fair few of them are reasonable to good games (Burnout, Timeshift, WWE, Tony Hawks, Sega Tennis, Stuntman, Hour of Victory). Some are very poor (the movie related ones, Golden Compass especially), but if your kid liked the films they will get some fun out of them.

Yes GTA, Bioshock, COD 4, etc would be better games choices for adults, but most of them are unsuitable for the market that most of these games are aiming for, just as most adults probably don't want to waste their time driving a car from a Pixar movie.

The issues with 360s means anyone buying should follow this advice: "bricks and mortar, is where you ought ta." Take your 360 Elite back to Tesco's without the HDD and they probably won't even notice, if they do they will happily take one out of the replacement you are picking up.

I upgraded from 20gb to 120gb for the same reason. Installing games is an excellent feature that should have been included from the beginning. Oddly, it doesn't seem to make much difference to some games (I find that Fallout 3 takes just as long to load from HD as DVD and acts just the same) but even then you've still got the benefit of no DVD drive noise. And then with some games it makes a huge difference - play GTAIV from DVD and you get a lot of popup, especially when driving at high speeds. The game seems to load basic models first, then add textures when it gets chance to load them - so drive down a street quickly and you're just looking at walls of blank, grey buildings. I've even crashed into railings that were invisible because the game hadn't loaded them yet! But install it to HD and all of those problems go away.

As for the deal, it does look like they're clearing out all the crappy games that haven't sold, and the games are worth so little that even if you did want them you're not really saving anything. But it might be good for someone who wants to go for quantity over quality!
#27
£80 worth of games- i think they are just shifting old games that are only worth a fiver each
#28
too many crap games for this to be hot. Better off just buying elite + 2 or 3 top games.

who expired? this isnt out of stock? just cos its getting cold theres not need to expire tut tut
#31
Mods please unexpire. Offer is still live, stock is on order as mentioned in the OP but it's still available to order and buy today.

Agree with most of the comments, it's not the best bundle deal ever, the games aren't my cup of tea and are certainly not the best on Xbox 360 but as a value starter pack for kids still seems an alright deal to me in view of the total value (games~£100ish, wireless entertainment pack~£35, plus elite console). Elite console is generally about £220 elsewhere alone (although mentioned above £220 with GTA4 currently at Game)

Note: going by the pics supplied its the Entertainment Pack with a downloadable version of Connect 4 supplied too...makes it 17 games included.

yes but a lot of websites do this and then never get stock back or if they do, they raise the price.

I think a mod needs to clarify if an out of stock is the same stock on order, therefore EXPIRED.

sure enough, but a mod has unexpired about 3 times already, so they must agree in theory, does need clarification

Where stock is on order, but the item is still available to order, then we allow the post to remain unexpired. Where they are sold out & you cannot order an item then the deal is expired. A number of retailers allow you to order when stock is on order eg Play, HMV, Amazon etc.

However, If you are unable to actually complete the order process, if you can use the report buttonhttp://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/custom_buttons/report.gif
then we can expire this post though, thanks.

Really rubbish games on this list. The only good game there is Burnout Ultimate (I'm guessing this is Burnout Paradise with all the DLC so far)
