Dont forget to use quidco and if you have a 5% or £5 discount code for further savings.
#2
Thanks, have been looking for one

Will PC World price match and knock 10% off for potential £252?

You'll be able to check the processor on box as well.
#4
Marked cold because it's just the standard retail price.
#5
suprisingly they had this up at £300 yesterday when it was 10% off!

No sorry wideawakewesley, you're getting confused with the Premium version, the "Elite" Xbox 360 with the 120GB hard drive normally retails for £299.99.

Voted hot and rep given, the Xbox 360's Movies on demand service starts today so that bigger hard drive will come in handy. :-D

They arent supposed to knock 10% off the price match, but 10% of the difference, so about £2 less. Its only better to get it from play becuase of the £5 discounts and the 5% discounts some people have.

Also this is the best price I could find for the elite and with the Xbox Originals and Video Marketplace launch today the 120gb hdd will definately show its worth.

They're getting lower!

I know nothing about Xbox's but I fancy one. Is this a good one?

Good deal, but no Quidco on consoles. Heated and repped.:)

Yes, this is the top model (the one with the big hard drive) for £20 off the RRP.
#13
This is a very good one - all the features of the Pro plus has a 120GB hard drive instead of the pro's paltry 20gb one.

As mentioned above this is very much needed now that you can download films via Xbox Live.

May be worth seeing if there are any bundle deals about though - theres not much point in buying it without any games :)
#14
Thanks. I probably won't use it for downloading films. It's purely for games. Should I still go for this one i.e. is this size of hard drive needed for anything else other than films?

I personally find the extra space useful as I like to download lots of demos off of Xbox Live before deciding whether to buy a game or not. A few demos and you can soon find the 20GB drive full ( you don't get to use the full 20GB, a large proportion is reserved for system files and backward compatibility stuff).

You'll also want to go for the Elite if you ever intend to buy any of the 'Xbox Originals' games from Xbox Live as they will also eat away at hard drive space pretty quickly.

do these come with data migration cables?

I would check with play first before you order, found out my order on the xbox which according to the website was shipped on the 4th has not even left the warehouse.:x So might be worth giving them a ring to make sure they have them in stock if you need them as a gift......

A question for you guys if I may: Why would I want one of these compared to an XBOX 360 arcade with a USB connected hard drive (say 500GB western digital for around £80-90)?

Apart from the new processor which probably runs cooler (am I right?)

TIA.
#23
You cant connect a hard drive via usb.

You can connect a USB hard drive to the 360 but it will only let you playback music and video and view photos that you have placed on it (from your PC, Ipod etc.). You can't use it to store games, game saves, demos, video, music etc that you download from Xbox Live.

I sometimes hook up a USB drive to my Elite to playback video files and things from it but it is not a replacement for the 360's own hard drive because of the protection system MS have in place.

There are a couple other things to watch out for with USB hard drives and the 360 related to the size of partitions and files but I can't remember the specifics so would have to look it up if anyone needs to know.

Hope that all made sense! :)

Are Elite's all Falcon's?
#31
Yeah that's what I was wondering - does the whole falcon chipset, 175W vs 2xxW argument apply to the elite or are they all falcons ?
#32
Given that people are going to need some games and perhaps another wireless controller this seems to be a bargain imho:-

http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/3594634/Xbox-360-Elite-Console-+-Halo-3-+-Forza-Motorsport-2-+-Viva-Pinata-+-Extra-Controller/Product.html

Grab yourself a 5% off code from the guy that distributes them in the freebie forum and this comes down to a bargainous £303.99. The 5% code apparently stays on your Play account for 1 year and counts towards every subsequent purchase by 5% as well.:w00t:

can you give me alink to this 5% off code I have been looking for ages and cant find it? please please?
#34
Just received this in time for Xmas after giving Play.com one almighty kick up the **** over the telephone. It seems that my order had not been prioritsed after the application of the 5% coupon (funny that). But its now here in all its black beauty. :santa:
To the poster above that asked about the 5% codes I'm afraid I haven't a clue since they rehashed this site as to where they have gone.
