Looks good to me :)

Thanks OP. I've been looking at all the deals recently and this seems the best suited for my son's birthday. If anything better comes along between now and 28th (the pre-order date) I can always cancel my order anyway I suppose.

I think out of all the xbox deals this is one of the better one's and also quidco on play admittedly 1% on consoles
#4
Great selection of games. Very good deal. You could even sell Forza 3 and keep the others if racing games aren't your thing.

awesome.

Anyone know if you have to pay for online gaming with the Xbox360??

Yes. £35 a year

You can get it for less than £30 if you do a bit of googling. I paid £26 for 12 months last time.
#9
Yep, it'll cost ya in the region of £30-35 for a prepaid code for 1 year. You can pay monthly or quarterly on xbox live, but that'll be pricy in comparison
#10
Looks like the best xbox 360 elite bundle deal we have ever had.

The best I've seen before is 2-games + WEP for £190.
#11
This is an excellent deal.

Disagree, it is the console with 4 old games.

The amazon deals before Christmas were better; £180 with 3 brand new games of your choice.

That may be, but it doesn't stop them being good games, and they'll still set you back a few bucks if you did want to buy them seperately.

Yes they are good games, fantastic games. It really depends what you are after. I personally would look out for another Amazon deal as these Xbox360 deals are coming thick and fast at the moment.

Define 'online gaming'.

Live Silver is free and offers access to online scoreboards, downloadable demos and XBL arcade.

Live Gold (which costs money) offers early access to some demos and the ability to play games head-to-head (actual online gaming I guess).

Great Deal!!

With all these great Xbox deals flying around at the moment im really tempted to get one however I did have my heart set on a PS3, mainly because of the brilliant (free) online gaming and blu-ray player. However it is a bit out of my price range still.

What are the main benefits of the elite Xbox over the standard? And is the HD gaming as good on the Xbox as good as it is on the PS3.

Basically what im asking is should I buy an Xbox now or is the PS3 being that bit better worth waiting for?
#17
Looks like a good deal to me - 4 high profile games from the last year or so - and a much better selection than the usual LEGO / Sonic / Tennis games that are too often part of these deals.

great deal have been waiting for a half secent elite deal thanks poster h+r added

Without wanting to start a Fanboy war, can I first start by saying I own both an xbox elite and a PS3. In my opinion yes PS3 online gaming is free but Xbox live is far superior with on the whole better servers and lag free superior gaming. I suppose you get what you pay for.

Yes I think the HD gaming is as good if not better on the Xbox, many titles that are on both platforms - there is either no noticeable difference between the two or in some instances better on the Xbox as some games are just ported over to the PS3 as I understand developers still struggle with coding for the PS3.

My advice - get your self an Xbox. Thats not to say I dont enjoy PS3 - i use it mainly to play PS3 exclusives (which there are not that many) and Blu ray. Any games I buy that are available on both I will always buy for my Xbox.

You could even keep Forza 3 and sell the other 3

Or you could sell Halo, lend Forza to a friend use Gears of War as a shaving mirror and donate Fable to charity

Main difference of the Elite is the larger hard drive of 120Gb over the 60gb on premium models, its only really an issue if you want to download loads of addons or (like me) like to install games to the drive to make it quicker and quieter!. I also think that people like the elite due to it being black, most AV gear is now black so it "looks" better! Other than that I think they are the same?!?

Shoudl you buy a PS3 or 360?!?!? Only you can answer that, they both have their good points and they are both great machines. I chose on the basis that my mates all had 360's and I wanted to play them online
#24
Regarding which is better, xbox 360 or PS3, I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure.

Seriously though, IN MY OPINION, xbox controllers are better, system layout and features are better, graphics and gameplay there is pretty much no difference and for films, well, PS3 walks away with it.

I'd buy a 360 if you're looking for gaming over films.

You get three 1 month trials of Xbox Live Gold with the console, but each has to be used with a separate gamertag. After that, you can buy 12 months of Live Gold via instant delivery for £26 from cheap xbox live codes dot com.

As for Live Vs. PSN, Live has cross-game chat, a party mode, a universal cross-game invites system, private voice chat, multiple voice chat channels, demos of every single downloadable game, live status updates for every single game, a reputation system, a reporting system, and a few other bits and pieces that PSN doesn't have, so don't think that the only difference is that one is free and the other costs money, because it's not the case. There have been (and still are) many occasions where downloadable content and games are cheaper on Live than on PSN too for the exact same content. For £2.17 a month, Live is well worth it if you're a big fan of online gaming.

100% agree with you, if your into singleplayer games PS3 is awesome-(uncharted/killzone/resistance etc), i'm more into online and co-op games so i'm normally on the 360- both consoles have advantages/disadvantages over the other.

PSN is free but live is so much easier to use if you have people on your friends list-if your a casual gamer and not really interested in playing with people you know and your after a BLU ray player go for PS3. If you've got a load of mates you want to play with i'd say xbox overall.

The main gripe that people have with live is the cost-i paid £25.99 for 12months+1 month free, divide that by 12 and it's a few pence a day, bargain!

At the end of the day both consoles are great- as I said above i'm more into the 360 but uncharted 2 IS the best game i've played I think ever and i'm only just starting on the online modes with it.!PEACE!!

new halo and fable coming out. (reach looks amazing)
forza's awesome.
gears online sucks.

good deal considering the price and not considering the ps3. you could pay that bit extra and get free online, blu-ray and wifi.

still hot.

the extra im refering to is the price of a ps3 over 360.
lets say a blu-ray player is £80 and wifi is £40....thats already worth it.

once youve bought the console, on xbox you PAY for XBL on PSN you sign up for FREE.

simple really, shouldnt have to explain.
#37
Why do people bother hacking Xboxs if you can upload games onto the harddrive? Do you still need the disc inserted to be able to play the game?

Yes but its still a ps3, still wont play xbox games will it.. if you want a blue ray player buy one, if you want to play ps3 exclusives buy a ps3, if you want to play xbox exclusives and in general better cross platform games buy an xbox 360... simples!

Not this again. What if you don't want a Blu-Ray player? What if you don't need wi-fi? What if you want to use wireless N to stream HD content?

You definitely get what you pay for with PSN too. A service that lacks demos, content, communication options and consistency, yet charges you more for much of the same content you get on Live. Live also has full 1080p streaming movies with 5.1 sound. The best PSN can offer is 720p with stereo sound, but no streaming option.
