Arcade - up from £129 to £159 and the bundled game(s) may not be included any more
Pro 60Gb - discontinued
Elite - down from £239 to £199 and probably including at least 1 game at that price
In other words they're putting the "cost of entry" up significantly as the only machine worth having is the Elite really (adding an HDD to an Arcade costs more than the price diff alone)
Elites will be cheaper ofc - but the cost of getting into an HDD equipped 360 is going up a bit.
Pros are still available in some stores but many places have none (Amazon have no new stock for example) but when they're £170 and you're likely to get twice-as-large an HDD and a free game for £20-or-less extra it's probably worth waiting for the Elite deals which will be coming from Friday
Put another way - a 360 is now the same price as a Wii (up £10 at retail too) and still £50 less than the retail price of any PS3 but that gap is narrowign with offers and deals etc.

who on earth is going to buy an arcade now? microsoft have made a funny move here, surely 360 has done so well because of the very cheap entry level model which gave people a choice, how ripped of will you feel buying an arcade now knowing you could have had the pro for the same price?

MS claim it's exchange-rate related (Europe isn't seeing a price increase AFAIK) but I also think they just don't want to play below the Wii's price anymore.
Personally I'm amazed they didn't just bin the Arcade entirely - an HDD isn't really optional anymore (you lose some of the best bits of the 360 experience without one) but clearly they can't afford to make that move just yet.
Mind you, Arcades probably sell mostly to people replacing dead consoles these days so perhaps it's just a way of paying for all those repairs they've had to do

I think ms is going to sack the arcade eventually, especially at this price they dont seem like they want to sell them!
dont you think its funny the project natal camera is black, oh it matches the elite! looks like they want the elite to be the definitive xbox 360!

The 360 and PS3 are very much in competition of course - and as the prices converge the PS3's BluRay, 'free' network and built-in wireless look all the better - but BluRay players are getting cheaper, it has a VASTLY inferior online experience, not everyone cares about wireless and it's strugging to keep-up games-wise.
But hey - why not just get all 3 and be done with it

http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/698764/Xbox-360-Elite-Bundles-No-Longer-Include-HDMI-CableOr-Component-Cables.html
So if it doesnt mention in the deal that you get one, there wont be one in the box.

Where are you getting your information about natal?
They didn't even give a release window at E3.
Personally i doubt we'll see it until then tail end of 2010 at the earliest.

So they haven't actually lowered the cost they have just taken stuff out of the box, what a con. They sell you a "HD" console then make you buy extra to actually benefit from it, then they try to spin it by saying you get the choice of the cable you need, in the older box you got all the cables you needed anyway (and you could have bought one for less than £199)
Knowing the customer service if you have a problem with the graphics they will say "you should use the official Microsoft hdmi cable" (which will be around another £10) only to find the problem is with the xbox itself and not covered by the 3year extended warranty

No official bundle has come without hdmi cable in the UK until it does wait and see what cable they include .....
I am pretty sure that when you tell MS that you are using the cable they "INCLUDE" you will have no problem being told "You should of used an official HDMI cable" why would they say that if rumour is there is no hdmi cable in the box the first place?....
the link posted was for the US, assuming that MS in the UK follow suit that will mean the newer Elite system won't have a HDMI or Composite HD cable included.
My comment about the cable you use will just give MS another excuse if you DON'T use their official cable. A read of the xbox forums shows it already happens to people now who didn't get a hdmi cable with their Pro/Arcade systems which have hdmi ports and use a generic cable and are having problems, their solution is usually to "use the cable that came with it" which if this report is true means you won't be able to play in HD.
