Why did you buy the wireless pack fi you didnt have a 360

Good deal even if the elite is pointless besides the colour

'cos someone in that thread told me it was an excellent price that I'd struggle to beat, so I just bought it :P

Annoying though, cos I had to swap my controller for a wired one anyway, lots of hassle, which I hadn't bothered.

Basically it worked out that I spent about £25 on Forza 2, which I don't even really want, and I've just let my friend borrow for a few months.

Sigh.

Not sure I would say pointless, I find the extra HDD space useful since switching from Premium to Elite and that's before the introduction of the Video Marketplace in the UK. The HDMI output is an added bonus if you need it but that is now available on some Premium consoles, have to check before buying if you want it.

My Elite is also much much quieter than my Premium was but from looking arounds forums it seems that some Elites are far from quiet so don't upgrade on that basis alone!

Do you think this will be available in store?
#8
Saw this same package in the paper this morning being sold at Currys, but it was £30-£40 more. So I'd say this is a pretty nice bargain!
#9
Great deal. Are these Elite's any quieter than the original 360s? That was my only reason for holding off on getting one.

Its supposed to be quite hit and miss. A lot of people are moaning about the noise level being worse.

My hubby has an elite and it's sooooooooooo much quieter... the noise of the premium used to drive me mad but the elite's been on all morning and it's whisper quiet :)

Great find btw khemical... only bad point is the extra controller is white but great for people that don't mind :)
#13
I got this deal with Blue Dragon for an extra £10 which i'm gonna trade in. It came to £335 including delivery. Quidco came to £9.66.
#14
Another great deal...still too soon though. Voted hot
#15
you can also get the same deal but stick the premium in there instead of the elite for £279.99. Even more tempting!!!
#16
Why do you say too soon? For yourself or in general?
#17
Anyone know if you can get this in store? Tempted to trade in a few things for this.
#18
The Halo 3 limited xbox 360 comes with the newer cpu processorer
#19
£87 saving and all that. this is an amazing deal. Voted hot.

Oh that's interesting, where did you find that out?

As I understood it the 65nM chips are not out yet and when they are they will be released together with machines with the older 90nM chips making it impossible to know which type you will get. Also I thought it is pretty much impossible without tearing the machine apart to tell what type of chip it has.

It is a great deal, but I am not a fan of the Halo series, and I don't fancy Forza 2. I'd rather have Rainbow Six Vegas and PGR4 in a bundle.
#22
is the red ring of death issue resolved in the elite?
#23

Right so according to those forum posts some people have Halo 3 Se 360s which have the new heatsink and supposedly the new chip and some have the old heatsink and so presumably the old chip, though that doesn't seem to be neccesarily conclusive.

So the situation appears to be as I was led to believe - some 360s are being released with the 65nM chips and some with the old ones. Seems that MS are deliberately causing the situation to be confused in presumably an attempt to not get stuck with stock of the older machines.

I was in the St Helens store and the offer wasn't on there.
#25
Minor point: I believe the wireless controller is the white one, which won't match the other one or your Elite.

Hi I checked by ringing a couple of stores and they dont match their internet prices so the above deal is £345.99.

I am very impatient so i went to the store and bought this deal and the guy said for the £345.99 deal I got the choice of the standard or Limited edition Halo 3 (which you dont get online) or for £20.00 more I could have the Legendary edition Halo 3 so my deal works out as..

Xbox 360 Elite + Forza + Extra Controller + Legendary edition Halo 3 (which by the way is cooler than I thought it would be) and all the trimings (hdmi etc.) all for £365.99...

Xbox 360 Elite = £299.99
Forza 2 = £35
Wireless remote = £30
Legendary Edition Halo 3 = £69.99 @play.com(out of stock) or £109.99 @softuk.com (if you can still get it..Amazon & Play show none in stock but market sellers have them for over £120)

Hate to be bitter, but this deal's not too hot. I work at Game, and they've got the limited edition 360 Halo 3 console (admittedly with only a 20GB HDD), with an extra controller, forza 2 and Halo 3 for this price. The Halo console, apart from looking fantastic, has got a play and charge kit included in the box, and a HDMI out, like the Elite. My money'd be on this one, seing as a bigger HDD is completley unessescary, plus you can always bring it back to the retailer if there's a fault much more easily than is done online. Furthermore, Game can extend your warranty for up to 3 years if you like, quite useful if you're paranoid about the rings of death. Not too hot, lukewarm if you will, for those reasons, in my opinion.

Depends what value you put on each console I guess. The Halo 360 has a retail price of only £279.99 compared to the Elite's £299.99 so you are getting a £20 smaller discount from Game.

If you think you will ever need the extra HDD space then it's a no brainer since MS rip you off for the 120GB drive if bought by itself (around £120 last time I looked). Add that to the cost of the Halo version and you have yourself one very expensive 360. If the HDD issue isn't important to you then it's a matter of taste I guess, I personally quite like the look of the Halo 3 version but I know a lot of people who don't. I could never bring myself to buy it for the same money as an Elite though, or even the £20 lower retail price to be honest knowing it only has the 20GB drive.

As to the 3 year extended warranty, the red rings of death are already covered for 3 years with Microsoft's warranty, admittedly other faults are only covered for 1 year but the RROD are by far the most common fault so I'm happy with that..
#29
Really? where does it say three rings are covered by microsoft's warranty for three years?

Not calling you a liar, just want to know for my own info. :)
#30
Its true MS stated they added a extra 3 years to the consoles a few months back due to the high return rate of the conolse. The extra warranty only covers red rings though.

Back in stock now for anyone who missed out over the weekend.

I'm tempted to get this. Quick question, If I were to buy online and say my elite died (nothing unusual) could I get it exchanged at one of their stores?

Not sure about that, might be best to give Gamestation a call before ordering.

I called two stores and they were both unsure. One asked me to call back when they had a manager in :\

I also called 3 stores;

1 stated they have non in stock (Camden Town)
The other 2 said the deal was online only - (Wembley, Hounslow)

I then called online support and they said delivery are going to take longer than usuall because the carrier are on strike twice in the next couple of days.

I'm thinking of trying to find alternative offers from other stores.

Thanks, have ordered my elite from gamestation with the forza bundle halo and blue dragon inc delivery came to £334. Still waiting for delivery mind, but worth the wait for bargain.

Have been checking the gamestation site for over 10 days now and 360 elite is out of stock. Anybody know a way around this obstacle to get the same deal?
