Thinking of upgrading your old 360 to a shiny new Xbox 360 S next month? GAME's got you covered.

The UK retailer has announced a list of trade-in offers available in store that should help spending out on the upgrade more bearable.

The list is as follows, with the price you see the price you pay when you trade in the appropriate console:

XBOX 360 ELITE £99.99

and it reached 216 Degrees

Does anybody know how you transfer your game-saves and M$ Marketplace stuff from the console that you're trading in to the new Xbox - do you do it in store onto your shiny new one or what??????????

a couple of ways:

Easiest way would be to get a 1-16gb Usb Pen Drive and put it into your 360, then copy over your DLC / savegames /etc to the usb stick and then put it onto your new shiny 360. Then go to xbox.com/drm and transfer the licenses over to the new 360's serial.

Or

Go buy the transfer cable which is gonna be £15 or so and transfer content to new hard drive that way. This method also transfers the licenses for your DLC. (i believe)

Or (i think the easiest method)

Do the DRM transferring to your new system, then redownload all the stuff that you want from Xbox Live. If you download a lot of stuff then this may be the longest method, but it is still an option. This option won't work for Savegames though, so use a USB Pen Drive to bring them over to the new 360 along with your 360 profile. (which for me i keep on a pen drive anyway, just incase).

None of thse methods are completely ideal and if you're trading in your old console the USB pen drive is gonna be the viable option, but there are ways of getting around it.

Hope This Helps!

I bought Splosion Man and a few other bits and pieces for games like Battlefield2.....and it'd be annoying to lose them. Thanks again.

Mate, you get one of these. It's free, they send you it out and it's only usable once. You can only use it to go from a smaller to a larger drive. I did this with my Premium -> Elite.

Free?

MS told me I had to pay £12.99 for it.

Can someone clarify... I want to trade in my old 20GB to get the new slim, so can can I transfer my gamesaves, DLC and gamertags onto a key, and just plug the key into the new one?
I asked MS and they said I need to buy this cable. This means, of course, I can't trade in my 20GB at time of purchase.

I'd also heard that Xbox's had now been upgraded to accept flash keys for data transfer, and the email I had from MS about the data cable seemed to be a standard email almost word-for0-word the same as the advice on the website.

Like someone has already stated, you can use a USB pen drive if you can get your hands on one. I'm using a sony 4gb and have already transferred data between xboxes due to problems with one. If you have one or can get hold of one, I would say 8gb would definately do the trick and remember, any DLC or Arcade games you may have paid for, you are eligible for 5 downloads of these so dont necessarily have to copy them if your having problems with space on your usb drive.

I cancelled my preorder from Game to this one, as a £10 saving is £10.
Anyway in Peterborough the Game and HMV stores are next door to each other and when I asked for my refund the manager of Game said is it cause of next doors offer I nodded and he said well their offer requires you to trade in a sealed elite and then handed me a print out from their head office stating some requests are saying the machine needs to be sealed.

Anyway I double checked at HMV and they said that's nonsense and said the elite doesn't need to be boxed when traded just working, and gave me the leaflet stating it.

So went back to Game and handed the leaflet to the manager and got my order cancelled.

So be aware that Game are trying some underhanded tactics to keep the orders and i'd advise just double check with HMV if you intend to move from Game to HMV before cancelling as any new preorders from Game the price to pay after a trade in is now £119!
#25
this is now a £30 saving from hmv

game's trade ins are now 65cash or 80trade in for elites

where as hmv is 85 cash or 110 credit
#26
Would they accept a Pro console with a 120gb drive fitted?
#27
does your xbox have to be boxed to trade in? do they require controllers/leads blah blah
#28
is this £89.99 after trade in of a 120GB Elite or 250GB?

cold as ice if you ask me

Got to agree with this comment, 90 quid and your perfectly working xbox for this, when you look at what your getting this isnt worth it, another microsoft gimmick, no new technology, the same xbox in a different case with wireless.
#30
I wonder if phat ps3 owners would have paid an extra £100 to switch their phat ps3 for a slim? i would not have i think. Would you be better off selling the elite for cash and getting one from online, im sure it was around £180 somewhere.
#31
Havince
agree. this is better than the GAME deal

+1
Expecially now that Game has lowered the trade in value of an Elite 120GB to just £80.
I traded in for store credit when it was worth £100, so at the moment, i'm losing out £10. Annoying, but oh well.
Can confirm this - saw it in Sutton HMV.

Its £90 extra, but think of it this way, you're adding an n'draft Wireless adapator, and a 250GB HD.
Then on top, newer, quieter, new fresh 1 year warranty.
No brainer for me.
#32
I traded in my xbox yesterday to Gamestation for £100, a little bit annoyed now but I know the managers so I'll try get another £10 out of 'em.
#33
Im sticking with my Jasper Elite, you dont know what kind of issues are going to crop up with this new design.
#34
As someone else said - do you just trade in your xbox console, or do you need to include leads and controllers?

for £90 youre getting built in wireless(would cost £40-£50 seperate) an extra 130gb of storage space(probably around £30-£40 to buy a 120gb harddrive) plus its ready for kinect and wont require a seperate power supply to run kinect.
then of course you have a new 1 year warrenty with hmv and no doubt another 3 years rrod warranty with MS.
all that not to mention a new controller to replace your old one, it seems you get quite a bit for your £90
#36
reckon its worth trading in my falcon model elite for the new one?

I don't think the new xbox is covered by the extended 3 year warranty.
Does anyone have a picture of the deal, of the leaflet or something?
#38
do they need the power brick that comes with an XBox 360?

Microsoft are worse than apple by restricting what you can and cant put on your devices/consoles.
#40
Ok, answers here.

Data can be transferred over USB to new Xbox. It will be a lot easier if you only do this for gamesaves and gamertags, then re-download everything else. You might be able to free up some space.

This deal is very good though.
