This bundle represents fantastic value as it, however if you buy instore and ask to see the label on the side of the box, you can guarantee to get the newest FALCON chipset (which runs cooler and uses the new 65nm processor) if it says 175W on the same label that has the lot number on!

History:

Initially it was difficult to tell if you were buying a new Falcon chipset 360 or and old Zephyr chipset(the one which
overheats) as they initially used 203W power supplies on both.

Now, microsoft are shipping all Falcone chipset consoles with the 175W power supplies as the chipset draws less power than the Zephyr Chipset. The Zephyr chipset(remember NASTY chipset) can not run on a 175W power supply! so it you see 175W on the side of the pack, you have yourself the latest, cool running FALCON 360.

Hope this helps all those looking for the best quality 360 on the market at the moment.

Never heard of the company before. They only take Paypal payments though.

Looks like a good deal, but as you say never heard of the company, could be a bit risky. With the GAME deal you are using a reputable company, can earn almost £9 in reward points and best of all you can guarantee you are getting the new Falcon chipset.

So agree, saving for laptop...must not get distracted!!:-(
#5
nice post my only concern is why bundle an extra controller with this and then make it the original white one ?

Still tempted
#6
Saw this today in Game as well.
Otherwise its £299.99 for Elite console pack alone.
#7
Just to warn people, Forza 2 & Viva Pinyata come in the same box/case, they have put the games together.
#8
Funny how nearly every bundle with 3 games seems to have Pinata in there.
You'd think they've got warehouses of it left over!

How do you know that they have not just underclocked the Zephyrs and now they have less power draw so they ship all with 175w?? Lol :giggle:

still debating whether the elite is worth that much more :(

essentially £100 for 100GB and a black case

and an HDMI cable (with audio adapter)

With the Xbox originals in todays Live update, plus the Xbox 360 Video download service starting here next Tuesday I think we're going to need that extra Hard Drive space. :-D
#14
Since that elites come out its making the ps3 look cheap -- frankly thats a rip off -- games and the controller will cost about £65 - console £200

btw ANY standard 360 video cable WITH an optical output can be used as an audio dongle  - get a nice n cheap one from fleabay :whistling: - plug in BOTH that lead AND the hdmi - audio from the optical of the lead - video from the hdmi - sorted :p - no need to buy a dongle NOT that you CAN actually buy them anyway !!! :x

so if you wanted to/needed to use the elite with RGB or component you'd have to buy the cable on top?

I just want to clear something up that is a little misleading.
Firstly - there's a few different 'models' of 360 flaoting around (I don't mean just chipsets or SKU's).

First there was the original 360's that were prone to breaking (the RROD).
Then, Microsoft started shipping some with HDMI (Shortly after the Elite came out). HDMI on the box does not guarantee you're getting a newer chipset, however it does guarantee you that inside the 360 is a much bigger heatsink than before, while still being the "Zephyr" chipset.

Now here's the kicker - the "Falcon" chipset is pretty much the same thing but with a 65nm CPU, which does draw less power and does generate less heat than before, HOWEVER, here's the thing:

The infamous "Red Ring of Death" is not caused by the console overheating. It's caused by the console heating up and cooling down too much, this causes a component inside the console to become loose and the 360 becomes RROD'd. This component is the X-clamp, which is related to the GPU.

In short and in English: The Falcon chipset is no guarantee that you wont get a RROD down the line since the problem lies with the GPU (which is still the same as in the Zephyr) and not the CPU, but it does give you a much better chance at not getting any troubles down the line. As far as I'm aware, no "falcon" models have RROD'd, but I've also yet to hear anyone with a HDMI'd Zephyr have trouble, either (including myself).

Just some information for all you folk.

Are you sure about this. In my Pro I can't fit an HDMI cable into the HDMI socket and another cable into the normal socket. There just isn't room.

I ordered this last thursday when i posted it and got the falcon chipset from the online store as well so there is a good chance you will get one if you order online as well

I think the official cable is too fat, but you can get smaller ones (I believe the official one that came with the core fits perfectly, but I'm not sure on that).
Look around ebay and you should be able to find an unofficial one that will fit, or if you feel up for it, you can remove the plastic casing of your other cable (it's the casing that's the problem, it's just too big).

If you do buy a cheap cable like a VGA one might be worth seeing if it is insulated against interference. My cheapo ebay one is now causing problems with my new lcd monitor causing a ghost image to appear a cm to the left. It is nothing to do with the ports (dual vga) or my pc (switched around, and tried different pc games with no 'smearing'). Now I've plonked down for the official one which is shielded against what can cause this.
#22
Kushan, well done for pointing out the Falcon MIGHT not be all it's cracked up to be.

Personally think it's more important to have one with a BenQ dvd drive as they're loads quieter, but as far as I'm aware you can't tell what you've got without plugging it in.

As far as im aware its a new GPU to on the same 65nm process as the CPU but untill someone opens one up we wont know if its a new xclamp.
More interesting is that the chips are half as expensive to make than the original 90nm. Wonder if we will see that saving? :giggle:

Wow the intenet's capacity for misinformation, rumour and uninformed utter ******** is always amazing.

Just FYI, the Game branded VGA cables are just as good as the official ones (but they don't come with a 2 to 1 audio adapter).

I too read that the RROD is caused by the GPU which sits under the drive bay. So these are really "half Falcon's" since the true Falcon would have both a 65nm CPU & GPU.
#27
The GPU in the falcons is actually smaller, but it's only by a small amount, you can read more here:

http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3152&p=5

Either way, you can't really lose with a 360 right now since all of the ones in store have been modified in some way to prevent RROD and even if you DO get it, you've got 3 years to get a new one from Microsoft.

Ladies and Gents.

As for this Bizits website.....here is the thing that I found doing a little more research. Do not buy from them. A con set up for people looking for a good deal.

The PS3 needs to be cheap, it's nowhere near the games machine Sony said it would be, check out the comparisons on Eurogamer.net, it's embarrassing.

paying an extra £100 for 100gb hardrive space is not a good deal

NOWHERE on the GAME site or instore says they have any new XBox 360 models with the new falcon chipset. You have just as much chance getting a year old console thats been sitting in the store room, fact.
#35
The elite only came out in august so they havent been in the warehouse for a year
game sold out of the elites a few weeks back so this batch i believe are all new models
mine arrived today from the website and it is the falcon model with a hitachi drive

Not true, if you ask them in store nicely, they will more than happily check the side of the box (or let you check yourself). That's how I assured my 360 would have HDMI and I bought mine in september, when they were very rare.

EDIT: It's not advertised for all sorts of reasons, mainly Microsoft doesn't want to confuse consumers any more than they have done (since there's already 4 official SKU's out there) and Game don't want to potentially lose sales to people who may decide just to wait for a "better" model.

:-( Sorry poster but I have to agree with willisgavin as it's expensivefor just a 100 gb hd.
#38
Now that Premium 360's come with HDMI ports, it's rendered these "Elite" consoles obsolete somewhat unless you've got extra money to burn.

Find it ridiculous that there are now 3 different Xbox consoles and they even had the friggin Halo Edition as well.

They must think Joe Public are really stupid.
#39
Just to let you guys know the £5 off Game voucher thats floating about on the vouchers section of this site works fine with this deal! Making it that bit more tempting. I ordered mine this morning and i also got the £8 game points :)

The Extra 100gb and hdmi cable that is only included in the Elite version warrants the extra £50. Remember Sony don't bundle the HDMI Cable in the P$3 and if you want to buy the offical $ony cable its another £30+.

The "hot deal" states every one is a falcon.
