The most anticipated game ever, Grand Theft Auto IV will revolutionize gaming. You play as Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant to Liberty City with a murky, violent past. Hoping to start a new life in a new country, Niko arrives on the docks and is met by his cousin, Roman. Romans promises of ready wealth and easy women turn out to be exaggerations and Niko must quickly adjust to a hard life. But this is America, and Niko wants his slice of the American dream. With perseverance and hard work, he just might grab it.

Good spot. Can't wait for it to be released. Might pre-order it from hmv now. Does anyone know how good they are at sending out preorded stuff on time??

EDIT - also see that they are giving out a voucher book supposedly saving £130.

Dont expect to receive the game on release day if you order from HMV as they are poor, if you want the game on release day or the day beofre order from Gameplay (£35 with voucher + Quidco) or Shopto.net
#4

They clearly state on the website talking about the offer The 1000 Xbox LIVE points code and the vouchers will be sent out to customers with their copy of Grand Theft Auto IV in time for the game’s release on April 29th.

voted hot, £2 off from quidco (5%) also, if better offer comes along can always cancel easy enough :)

PS They posted my Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 on Tuesday, so maybe they're getting better ?

You may get it on time then, Im just going from past experiences with HMV as have never received anything on time and items that clearly show in stock end up getting ordered from their supplier and takes over a week for delivery.

Going to pre-order mine with gameplay as can get it for around £33 with a discount code and Quidco and should get it day before release
#11
Not sure I trust HMV to get this delivered by release day. I preordered Unreal Tournament 3(PC) well over a year in advance and they didn't ship it til nearly a month after launch! My PES arrived over 2 weeks after release and my Zelda: Twilight preorder arrived 3 weeks late. Utterly incompetent, but the MS points are tempting....
#12
HMV are utterly useless for preorders.

hmm strange. It must have my student card saved. I didn't have a discount until I entered that other code though...
#17
I preordered this and just got an email from them telling me they cancelled it, but they didn't say why. Apparently they sent me out another email saying there was a problem, but I sure as hell never got it. Only email I got was the "thank you for your order" one =\
#18
Everything i've ordered off hmv's website takes about a fortnight to come. Easily the slowest main brand i know of.

(good offer other then that!)
#19
They had this same offer on in-store when Mass Effect first come out so I can see it being an in-store deal too.

I agree, although I preordered Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and arrived on Saturday so I was quite surprised that it arrived pretty quickly considering there was a bank holiday Friday.
#21
hmv sometimes come good for pre-orders.

only once for me mind, that was Gears of War which they sent by special delivery for no extra cost! came on release day. Usually stick to GAME if i want a new release early.
#22
If anyone can verify that it is available instore?

Thanks
#23
Isnt this available for a fiver less at Game or Gamestation with 500 less points? 500 points are not worth a fiver so surely this is a worse deal?
#24
Gamestation is selling it for £40 with 500 free points, is that what you mean?

I wonder why it's not on the special edition.
#28

So do GAME usually deliver on release day then??
#30
My mistake, £39.99 at Game or Gamestation. Must have been a voucher or reduction on here the other week.

GAME have delivered to me on release day on every one of my pre-orders; sometimes one day early :) - havn't tried HMV before.

i'd say, if you want guaranteed delivery for release day, go for GAME - they also have a great deal [GTA IV @ same price + 500MSP + 4x Gamer Pics] :)
#32
I'd rather get it from Amazon for £35.
#33
beware hmv. I ordered an xbox 360 before xmas although the console came on time they took until last thursday to deliver the hdmi cable to connect to the tv. shocking service! get 19% off with quidco and student discount tho.

last time i bought a pre ordered game and got it before the release date was from play.com ... don't if this helps but yea...
#38
Does anyone know if these deals end towards the release date? Are they an incentive to order now rather than a week or two before release. I was thinking of waiting to see if other offers or deals become available but thats no good if these deals expire.
#39
Special edition is £59.99 at hmv and £59.97 at Tesco.com. Anyone know any discounts?
#40
I ordered from HMV, i think they will dispatch the GTA 4's on time, because its such a big release alot of pre orders it may hurt there reputation
